Mia is carjacked at the beginning of the story. Did you suspect it was more than a simple robbery at that time?

I know its been ages since this buddy read, but I thought I would add my two cents.

Yes, I knew it would be more than just a carjacking but I didn't expect Frank Hannigan to get killed. I thought he would save Mia and that's how she would get away from the killer.
