he always goes after Alice even when he shouldn't
and he always leaves when the Spook leaves him alone. I have no idea why spook leaves him alone anymore...

Tom should know by now that it's a bad idea to go after Alice. :D I also don't understand, why he decided to go to Read Hall without any of his tools and weapons. You'd think he'd like to be prepared even if he thought Father Stocks would get them to Read Hall safely. Pendle is full of witches, so it's just dumb to travel without any weapons. (hide spoiler)]

Yes, that's interesting. (view spoiler)[ I never realized Alice had marked Tom somehow. I wonder why she did it. Does it benefit her somehow or did she do it to protect Tom? (hide spoiler)]

Wurmalde (view spoiler)[ is an interesting character. She seems to be in a powerful position in Pendle even though she's not a local witch. Does she even belong to any of the covens? I wonder if Tom and Alice will be able to save Tom's family before it's too late. Maybe Alice will save them while Tom is kept in Read Hall. Or maybe she will free Tom somehow and they'll save his family together. (hide spoiler)]

It's weird (view spoiler)[ how Spook is never around and Tom and Alice have to handle all kinds of difficult situations on their own. Like when Tom was arrested it took Spook more than a day to get to Malkin tower. (hide spoiler)]

Okay, (view spoiler)[ so finally we know for sure that Tom's mom is a lamia witch. I wonder what Tibb meant when he said Tom's mom was immortal. Did he just mean she would have lived a very long time or is there still something we don't know about her? Anyway, I think having mam's sisters protect Tom and his friends can be very useful for Tom. (hide spoiler)]

It will be interesting to see (view spoiler)[ what happens at Lammas. It will be a difficult task for Tom and Spook to defeat Wurmalde, Mab and all the other witches. (hide spoiler)]

It IS Weird! I completely agree(view spoiler)[he's leaving Tom alone all the time!! This time he was almost hung! it's just crazy!! (hide spoiler)]

Now we know(view spoiler)[ I agree, yep, it looks like his mom was immortal but she gave it up for his father....interesting.

I hate(view spoiler)[ that the prophesies keep predicting the Spook's death. I mean, i know he's got to die some day but I feel like every book is a bit more ominous. I wonder how many more books before he's gone.... (hide spoiler)]

I was able to finish all but 20 pages of this book before I flew to Japan. I'll write the comments later because it's past midnight now.

I finished this yesterday and I think it was interesting to (view spoiler)[ get bit of Alice's point of view for a change. Seems like she's not likely to betray Tom even if her behavior is a little suspicious every now and then. Or at least she doesn't seem to want to betray him now. I wonder if the prophesy about the girl who will love and betray Tom and eventually die for him is about Alice. (hide spoiler)]

I wonder if we'll see (view spoiler)[ Grimalkin in one of the books later in the series. She could come back for Tom one day when she considers him more of a challenge than now. (hide spoiler)]

Maybe Jack and Ellie (view spoiler)[ will like Alice a little more now when Alice helped Tom to save them and to heal Jack. Although, I'm not sure that makes a difference as she's still a witch and her and Tom's presence could put the family in danger. (hide spoiler)]

When do you think we should continue the series? I'm not sure I'll have time in August because I'll have summer exams and I have already scheduled some August buddy reads. Would the beginning of September work for you?

I worry the prophecy was about her. I don't want her to die for it.
Is it possible the prophecy could be his mom? I remember it talking about someone loving him giving up their life.... I worried it implied "your true love" and that wouldn't be his mom...but I've looked through all my posts...apparently I didn't note the prophecy! lol that would have been helpful, darn it! Trisha, (view spoiler)[ I always thought the prophesy is about a girl who will be in love with Tom and that's why I thought it would be Alice. However, now when I think about it, I'm not sure romantic love was mentioned in the prophesy. I don't actually remember the whole prophesy, but I guess it could as well be about a friend who loves Tom or about his mom. (hide spoiler)]

Maddison, feel free to join us when we read the next book. :) We haven't actually discussed whether we'll read the whole series, but we've been reading these books for quite a while now. I know my library doesn't have all the books, so I may have to stop reading at some point unless I want to buy the books. However, I think the books they are missing are some of the last in the series.

Maddison, there was this prophesy (view spoiler)[ that someone (I don't remember who) told Tom. The prophesy said that some girl will love Tom, betray him and eventually die for him. Something like that. I'm not at home and don't have the book with me, so I can't check the exact prophesy. (hide spoiler)]
