Interesting Karen and Kristie how we all react differently to books. The movie I found far less emotionally engaging than the book. Agree that sometimes we need to be in the right frame of mind for a certain book.

I just looked at my notes on this and it looks like it took me two weeks to read the first 64 pages (18%) in 2015 before I put it aside. I purchased it on Audible earlier this year to see if I'd have better luck with the audio, but forgot about it.













I read it a few years ago but remember the dilemma so well. I haven't seen the film, but I did review the book.

I saw the movie too. Scenically beautiful but lost the depth of characterisation and definitely slow as you said, Maggie. Not a patch on the book.
