'Merican friends, what are some words/phrases which could be used in The Outsiders?

message 503: by [deleted user] (new)

Good thanks for asking. So, how's school?

message 504: by [deleted user] (new)

Tired all the time. Wake up early for choir and then have 9 periods a day! Like you said, 'so much work!!!'

I start at 8:00 and then usually end at 2:55 but on early dismissal, we get out at like 2:20.

Alexis (alexis1299hallyufangirl) | 415 comments Most of the time...well, my kindergarten sister lives in my room with me, and so when she doesn't feel like going to sleep, she keeps me up. I normally do get some sleep, but sometimes, my mind reels too much to be able to lapse into the blissful lulls of my dreams... :) Just kidding! Not! I am! Or am I? Anyway, the perks of being a homeschooler!

Whoa! You guys start so early!
We start at 8.45am and finish at 3.35pm, with 5 hour-long periods.

I don't mean like 5 hours each period, just to clarify... I realised how confusing that sounded. That would be TORTURE!
We have 5 periods (which is like none compared to you guys) but each is an hour.

Alexis (alexis1299hallyufangirl) | 415 comments I don't have periods...school related anyway. My brother and sister that go to regular brick and mortar have trimesters. I thought that was stupid. I have the old fashioned semester. I feel like I can barely be a part of this convo on account of the fact that I am home schooled.

Yeah. I mean, me and my mom get along pretty well, so it isn't too bad being around her ALL DAY. She works from home as a medical transcriptionist. I mean, when I get too overwhelmed or something, I just go to the library. Being home schooled is a lot better than being in regular school. I have flexibility to do my schoolwork, I can see my grades every single day, so I know if I need to do extra credit, my teachers are nice...most of the time, I get to go on field trips and stuff and we have the option to go to Hershey Park at the end of the year. When I was in school, I got bullied a lot because I was gifted and everybody only wanted to be my friend because they could copy my answers, but in cyber school, I'm with other gifted people, so I have real friends that don't just want me for the answers. :) So, yeah, I like it a lot better.

Normally, I don't have to stay up late because of school, but when I do, don't speak to me, look at me, think about me...matter of fact, act like I'm not even there because I am not a morning person...or a late person for that matter, and unless there is a Ryan Higa or Smosh video in front of my face, I am doing schoolwork, so you better leave me the hell alone before I bite you damn head off. :) Love you, BFF's! Aw, lucky you! Year 9 (8th Grade) is horrible. History is plainly based upon war. So we just did the causes of WW1, now we're doing the war itself. I think we get to do the WW2 and the holocaust and some other stuff too this year.
But the good thing is, is that there is a trip to Belgium in March, to see the battlefields and stuff, so that'll be awesome. :)

When I go out with my mom and my siblings, people think I'm the mom. It's really kind of annoying. I actually had a woman come up to me before and tell me and my mom about this 'mommy and me' thing that was going on at their church. I was like 'I'm not a mommy!'

Yeah, I'm really freaked out, too... :/
It's gonna turn into a second plague. Plus, they've been thinking about exporting the victims to the UK too, but we technically would have been safe, being an island.
And a rumour at school was that the person in the UK who'd had it, lived in Durham, which is like an hour from me. (Although I'm dubious about that).
We've got all that screening now at every airport and things.

They need to lock down the countries, so no one moves. That way, it can't spread via face-face contact, which would rule that out.

message 545: by Alexis (new)

Alexis (alexis1299hallyufangirl) | 415 comments Yeah Laura, but Ebola is in the US, not currently the UK. I'm not sure how much you've got to worry about just yet. :)
