Madison (roseteags) | 82 comments Hey! So do we want to brainstorm some ideas together, or do you have some in mind?

message 2: by emma (new)

emma (theonlytanman) | 247 comments i was kind of thinking something involving zombies. kind of walking dead like maybe?

message 3: by Madison (new)

Madison (roseteags) | 82 comments Yeah, that sounds great, I love the walking dead. Should we start at the beginning of the apocalypse, or after it has been happening for a bit? I was also thinking that our characters don't know each other at first, and possibly despise each other for a while? Just to get that good build up.

message 4: by emma (new)

emma (theonlytanman) | 247 comments i think that we should do the beginning. that sounds good! like you said, i think that would be a great way to know the characters. should we just do the basic name, age, appearance?

message 5: by Madison (new)

Madison (roseteags) | 82 comments Yeah, sure. And then we can reveal personality and background through the story. Do you have an age range you're thinking of? I usually do 19-25. And location? I think the US Northwest would be cool, but I'm down with any other location too; we probably won't pay a great amount of attention to the location.

message 6: by emma (new)

emma (theonlytanman) | 247 comments 19 - 25 sounds good! you don't want to make them super young. :D i think anywhere in the US northwest is good.

Madison (roseteags) | 82 comments Alright! I'll make my character :)

Madison (roseteags) | 82 comments Teagan sat on the window sill of her apartment reading The Prince and the Pauper for the third time. She was having a hard time focusing, however, due to some commotion that was drifting through the open window from the street below. She glanced down from the fourth story she was at, but couldn't see anything from where she was sitting. She sighed, marked her page, and walked into her kitchen.

Iain was currently at his house, chewing on the end of a dull yellow pencil. As he looked at the blank piece of notebook paper and the cup of cold hot chocolate, he sighed. Hearing a ton of noise outside, he swung around in his leather red swivel chair, looking out the window. He couldn't see that well due to the girly white curtain blocking the window. But when he did get a glimpse, he didn't see it right away.

Madison (roseteags) | 82 comments Just as Teagan was pouring herself a bowl of cereal, there was a pounding knock at her door. She opened it to see her neighbor, Stella. Stella was a short, stocky woman in her 40's, with badly died blonde hair, and tan, leathered skin. Her and Teagan got along well, but she wasn't a fan of all of Stella's conspiracy theories. "Have you been watching the news, hun?" Stella croaked in her harsh, smoker voice. "The world is ending."

Iain heard a pounding knock on his front door. Groaning loudly, he went to the front door. There was an old Mexican man at the front door. He wasn't fit, but he wasn't fat. He was somewhere in the middle of it all. "What do you want now, Mr. Santos? I already fed your cat!" He asked, rolling his eyes. They got along, he did things for them and Iain got money. That was Iain's only job.

"The world is ending, and you're coming with me, Miller." Mr, Santos pulled his arm, leading him to his house.

message 16: by Madison (new)

Madison (roseteags) | 82 comments "Is this one of your conspiracy theories, Stella? I'm not in the mood." "Not this time, Rose. You better pack your bags, we have to get out of here as soon as possible." Rose was a nickname Stella had called Teagan since they met.

Now, Teagan was somewhat worried, if not confused. She had never seen Stella look scared, until now. She rushed back into her apartment, grabbed her duffle bag, and began stuffing it with essential clothes and toiletries. She ran out to see Stella had pulled out some food and water bottles from Teagan's pantry and was putting it into paper bags. "Where are we going? And for how long?" Teagan asked. "I'll explain it all to you later." Stella said as she grabbed a bottle of gin Teagan had and walked out the door. Teagan grabbed her book, made sure the letter from her grandma was still safely tucked into it, and ran out after Stella.

Iain was dragged out to Mr. Santos's driveway, which was five houses away. Iain would have appreciated it if he would have stayed on his faded blue front porch, told his everything that was going on right there and then. He couldn't tell if the middle aged man was going crazy or if the little Debbie cakes had really gotten to his head this time. Iain ran his hand through his hair, shaking his head. "Tell me, Mr. Santos, what in the world is going on?" Mr. Santos immediately said that the world was ending. Simple as that.

Iain dashed back to his house, grabbing a large duffle bag, food and drinks, extra clothes and shoes, and his notebook and chewed up pencils. He needed to document everything. After he met back up with Mr. Santos's, Iain looked teary eyed. "I'm ready to go, Mr. Santos."

Madison (roseteags) | 82 comments Inside the halls of the apartment building, chaos was rampant. People rushed through like maniacs, pushing others aside, various wailing cries echoed through, and everyone else was talking in a panic. Stella grabbed Teagan's wrist and trudged through the crowded halls, bypassed the packed elevator, and went straight to the stairs, which also buzzed with panicked activity.

On the way down, Stella and Teagan ran into a 30 year old man they both new, who was collapsed on the stairwell clutching his arm and crying. "Taylor, what happened?" Teagan asked, crouching down next to him. Taylor was inconsolable and wouldn't didn't answer the question. Teagan glanced down at the pool of blood around him and gasped. Stella looked terrified, "Rose we have to leave him. C'mon hun, we have to go!" She said frantically, pulling Teagan's arm. "No! He needs help! Why would we leave him?" Stella looked at Teagan sadly and shook her head, "It's too late, Rose. He's already dead. We aren't though," Stella tugged Teagan's arm again, "let's keep it that way." They continued there descent down the stairs.

((Do you think we need any more characters?))

Iain followed Mr. Santos down the street, his giant turquoise duffle bag dragging on the ground. Iain wondered if it was filled with little chocolate treats for him to munch on as the world ended all of a sudden. Suddenly, Iain heard a few screams, the sound of glass breaking, and people running up and down the streets of the neighborhood. Looking over at Mr. Santos, Iain had to figure out what was going on. He couldn't wait any longer walking with Mr. Santos. He had to go and he wanted to see what was going on. Iain wasn't going to get anywhere with the grasp of a man he barely even knew by heart. "Miller, get back here!" Mr. Santos barked, running after him, but his legs couldn't keep up the pressure. Suddenly, he heard a gun shot and saw a victim fall down in his tracks. Mr. Santos turned around and saw the victim, even though he had no idea who shot first, and ran as fast as his little legs could carry him.

Iain ran as fast as he could. "This is crazy! This has to be one of your little stunts!" Iain exclaimed, running as his duffle bag bested at his side. Mr. Santos shook his head. "No! It's all true boy!"

(( sure! every apocalypse squad needs a few extra people. maybe one or two more? ))

Madison (roseteags) | 82 comments ((I'm typing on my phone, so sorry if I have a lot of typos!)

Theu were almost to the last level of stairs when a melody of snarls and screams broke out. Teagan and Stella stopped in her tracks, but while Teagan stopped in confusion and fear, Stella pulled out a gun. "What is that for?" Teagan excalimed, her eyes widening. "Just trust me, hun." she said as she proceeded quietly, gun ready to fire. Teagan stayed back for the same reason she stopped, hoping Stella knew what she was doing.

Stella had been a mother figure to Teagan ever since she had moved to Portland. Teagan's own mom was never really present, and Teagan cherished the support and company of Stella.

Stella had only taken about 10 steps when a gunshot rang out - not from Stella's gun. Teagan clutched her ringing ears as a man emerged from around the corner, spotted with blood.

Iain stopped running, turned around and looked Mr. Santos in his dark chocolate brown eyes. "Then, why does this stuff only happen in the movies? Yeah? Speechless now, huh? I watch this TV show every single night, haven't been scared. It's fake."

"How do you know that it is fake?" Mr. Santos asked.

Well, he definitely had him beat there. He didn't know if this whole entire thing was a scam just to get rid of him or not. Maybe the person behind him didn't really die. Maybe all of the piles of blood on the ground was just spilt bottles of cranberry juice. Then, Iain heard another gunshot and jumped. And that's when he saw Mr. Santos pull out a knife. "What, what is that?!" Iain exclaimed in a high pitched voice.

"You have to defend yourself in Mexico, boy!" Mr. Santos exclaimed.

Madison (roseteags) | 82 comments "It's dead. I got it." The man said between breaths, bending over with his hands on his knees. "Have you guys run into any yet?" Teagan, still, was completely confused at what was going on. What did he get? Why is he covered in blood? What the hell is going on? She had so many questions racing through her head.

"We saw someone who got bit up the stairs a bit ago, so we should probably get going." Stella said while shaking her head, "You seem like you know how to handle yourself...wouldn't mind your company on the road."

Bit! What does she mean by bit? Why aren't they telling me anything?

Without saying anything the man disappeared around the corner, but quickly came back with a black duffle bag slung over his shoulder. He came up and shook Stella's hand, "I'm Clark." he said, to which Stella introduced herself and Teagan, who was finally starting to breath regularly again. Teagan managed a smile and reached forward to shake the man's strong, rough hands. Stella was right, this guy definitely looked like he could handle himself.

"Where are you two heading?" Clark asked as they pushed open the big door that led to the back parking lot.

((What are we going to call the zombies?))

Iain's mouth was gaping wide open as he stumbled backwards, lying on the ground. He watched as Mr. Santos, and he felt horrible now that he didn't even know his first name, as he threw one of his knives in a gross human being, covered in blood and some sort of goo? Iain had to be dreaming. This couldn't be real. And then, he felt a warm hand on his shoulder. Looking around at the hand, it was covered in dry blood. Iain opened his mouth to scream, but nothing came out. He was dead. He was going to die.

"Miss Nia! How are you, my dear?" Mr. Santos asked, grabbing the knife out of the bloody monster that he had just killed. It was covered in blood and luckily he didn't bust his head open from fainting.

Nia laughed, brushing her auburn hair over her shoulder. "Pretty good, Rico! All is well!" Iain snapped his fingers. Rico. His name was Rico Nia slapped Iain's back playfully, gesturing for him to get up and back on his feet. "Come on! We have to go!" Nia loudly laughed, straightening her black beanie on her head. Iain shook his head. How could they be smiling at a time like this?

( maybe new moon walkers? i kind of thought that it was cool. also, i think that this is the best rp i have ever done. C: )

Madison (roseteags) | 82 comments ((Yeah, that sounds cool! And then we could shorten it to moonies or something sometimes haha. And me too! I'm really digging it))

Clark was pretty young, he looked about 24 to Teagan, but she had always been bad at guessing ages. He had dirty blonde hair, with the same blonde stubble on his face. His white shirt and hands were covered in something dark, besides blood, like he had been working on a car not too long ago. Low and behold, when they got out to the parking lot, Clark beelined to an old, black 4-runner.

"This is my baby, Frodo." Clark said, unlocking it and loading in his bag, "I thought I should fix him up when I saw the news. He'll get us through anything." He patted the hood of the car and got in. Teagan put her duffle bag in the back, where Stella was loading the bags of food and her own bag. Teag went around front and hopped in shotgun, leaving Stella the back.

"There's a big stretch of forest if we branch of the Pass." Stella said, "I say we go through there, head towards the mountains. I bet most people are going to the coast since it's warmer."

"Maybe they're right. The winters by the mountains can be really harsh if we don't have shelter."

Teagan, still not knowing what was going on decided to help anyway, "Maybe we can go near the coast, just so it isn't as freezing, but not as crowded either. They have some thick forests over there."

"Sounds like a plan to me!" Clark said as he started the engine.

(( sounds good! ))

Iain followed behind Nia and Rico. They were just to talking like old friends. Nia looked like she was in her early twenties, her makeup was perfect like as she had just done it or if she had just gotten off the set of a reality TV show. Rico, well, he was Rico. He had taco meat grease stains on his white shirt, his gut was hanging out a little bit, but he was proving to be suitable for this type of journey.

Suddenly, Nia stopped. "If we are going to go any further, we need a plan. We need to know where we are heading."

Iain scratched the little stubble of hair on his chin. Rico whistled a little tune. "Maybe somewhere cold?"

"And let us all die?" Nia laughed, throwing her head back. "Hah! In your dreams. Kid, where do you want to go?" Nia asked him, looking him straight in the eye with her icy blue eyes. How could eyes even be that blue.

"The coast. It isn't all that cold, but they have some forests over there. It is actually quite suitable." Iain stated, nodding as he remembered what he had jotted down in his notes the other day when he got terribly bored of doing nothing all day long. Research was his number one priority. "And hopefully those creatures won't get us."

"They are zombies, kid. Keep up." Nia snapped as she began to walk again to her car. It was a beat up red truck with grass, dirt, and blood stains on the side. Rico sat passenger and Iain sat in the cargo bed. Hopefully this would not be a bumpy ride.

message 26: by Madison (new)

Madison (roseteags) | 82 comments In the car, Clark and Stella finally filled Teagan in on what was going on. "Basically, they're dead people who are no longer dead. You know the stories of zombies." Clark explained, occasionally glancing over at Teagan's shocked face. His dark blue eyes did not look amused in the least, even though his deep, smooth voice had an heir of amusement.

"You've got to be kidding me." Teagan said, "There's no way zombies are actually real." She looked back at Stella who reassured her that it was definitely real.

"I told you the world was ending." Stella remarked. Teagan shook her head and faced the front, "Well, at least I've read so many survival books." She said, trying to lighten up her own mood. This was absolutely insane.

Just then, Clark swerved the car dramatically, bringing Teagan's attention out of her head and back to the road. There were a group of 10 or so beings that looked exactly how Teagan had imagined zombies would look. They all turned their attention to the car and began to, what word can only describe as stumble, towards the car. Some were missing body parts, some were painted in bullet holes, and all were grey and bloody. Clark stepped on the gas and they sped out of there.

Only a little ways out, they hit terrible traffic. Night was beginning to descend, helicopters were flying everywhere, explosions were springing up in the city, lighting up the horizon with a brilliant orange, People were out of their cars fighting, or breaking into other cars. Police men were nowhere to be seen - probably off in the city trying to kill those monsters. Teagan felt bad for anyone still stuck there. She also felt bad for everyone stuck in this damned traffic.

"Screw this." Clark said suddenly, and veered his car off to the right, speeding into a field, and drove out of all the traffic.

Nia continued to drive her truck, Rico talking about his cats that he had sadly left back at home, but he knew that he couldn't bring them. He said that they would have never made it this far. They were always scared of everything, except for Rico.

Iain sighed as he lied down in the bed of the truck, looking up at the sky. The sky had charcoal gray steam filling it up, so it looked unusual. Like a factory was located somewhere close. Iain tried to think of how his day was starting to turn out. It totally took a left turn into the end of the world category, a spot where Iain never knew it would land.

As Nia drove on some empty back roads, Iain smelt the smell of dead cows and leaning over the side of the truck, he saw them all. Flies were circling above, dried blood covered the cows, and there was one zombie and sadly, it was devouring a baby zombie. Did zombies even eat?

Iain let out a scream as he saw a group of zombies, about three or four, chasing the truck. They were going terribly slow and it looked like they were going to catch up to them! Iain knocked on the glass, begging for their attention. "Step on it!" He yelled. Looking back, they did, but they didn't go all that faster. Iain had to do something, but he didn't want to kill somebody, or rekill somebody in this case.

message 28: by Madison (new)

Madison (roseteags) | 82 comments They passed quite a few more undead parades, and the scenery of the dark forest they were driving through was a lot less pretty with bloody handprints covering the windows. Nevertheless, Teagan felt very fortunate that she got out with the people she was with. What would she have done if Stella hadn't knocked on her door?

The three of them had been going over all of the items they had brought. Clark brought his coolest apocalypse clothes; apparently he had planned them out for fun, not expecting he would actually wear them in the apocalypse. He also brought some cans of food, two guns, a few knives he just had laying around, and a six pack of beer, which he asked Stella to pull out of the back.

Stella didn't bring much. Just some clothes, her hunting boots, her gun, and everything she took from Teagan's. Teagan ran over what she had brought, leaving out the book because she thought they would give her a hard time for being sentimental. Clark was impressed that Teagan had gin in her house, even asking if she was old enough to drink. "Rose might be a year short, and she might not look it, but that girl can hold liquor like a sailor." Stella informed Clark, who laughed in surprise and glanced over at Teagan's embarrassed face.

Stella passed Clark and Teagan a beer, and took one for herself, but Clark shook his head. "We have to ration. We'll all just share one." To which Stella groaned, but took the extra two back, took too big a swig of the remaining one, and passed it to the front.

"About two hours to go." Clark said as they pulled back on to a main road. There was hardly anyone out here, surprisingly. Apparently not very many people got this far. Teagan looked back, and figured out why. There was a giant horde blocking the highway, and half of them were coming towards the car.

(( okie dokie! ))

Iain looked as the zombies looked like small dots in the distance as Nia sped up faster on the turning back roads. He laid back down in the bed of the truck and sighed, draping his arm over his brown eyes. He was scared, obviously, but it didn't seem like everybody else he had come across was scared like he was. Digging into his bag, he looked for a snack only to find a whole box of granola bars. Why did he even bring those? He hated granola bars.

Squinting his eyes, Iain thought that he saw a zombie, and in this case it was really big. But, it was another car, and it looked like they were going to sort of collide. "Nia! Slow down!" Iain yelled, banging on the back window. "Slow down! You're going to crash! Hurry!" Iain yelled, looking in front of them as he saw that it was coming up fast.

It took a while for Nia to see it, but when she did, Iain could see her say something to Rico, but he couldn't hear what it was. Sitting back down in the truck bed and clutching the sides, Nia swerved off of the back roads and into a tree.

A tree. At a time like this.

Iain quickly hopped out of the truck, watching as Nia and Rico's airbags popped out in front of their faces. The truck was damaged, a lot, in the front. What were they going to do now? And plus, the zombies were around, and a huge pack of them. They couldn't walk by foot!

message 35: by Madison (new)

Madison (roseteags) | 82 comments Even though Clark should have seen it first since he was driving, Teagan was the first to see the truck speeding right towards them. "Clark watch out for this truck!" she yelled, wondering what he was doing instead of watching the road. There wasn't much Clark could do except stay his path and hope they swerved around them. They couldn't stop because of the big horde behind them, and the road was very narrow.

As the truck grew closer, the driver swerved into a tree, causing a large sound and spraying metal into the air, attracting even more of the horse to turn their way. "Stop he car! We have to help them!" Teagan screamed. She wasn't going to let a whole car of people die, and they could potentially be helpful.

Stella tried to stop her as Teagan got out of the car, but she yanked her arm away and ran towards the busted, steaming truck. There was a man hopping out of the back of the truck, and two people in the front, blocked by airbags. "Help get these people out!" she ordered the man who was out of the truck, "I'll get your bags from the back." she called for Clark to help get the other people, and ran around to the back, slinging bags over her shoulders as Clark and Stella ran over to help.

The horde seemed dangerously close, and they could hardly hear one another over the roar of their moans.

Iain's eyes grew wide as he looked over at the girl who had just approached him. Nodding, he opened Nia's door first. Leaning over and grabbing Rico's knife from the cup holder, he sliced open the air bags and unbuckled Rico and Nia's seat belts. "Come on. We have to go." Iain urged, his fingers lightly shaking when he heard the moans of the zombies that were approaching.

Nia rubbed her head, fixing her beanie. She was okay, or else she wouldn't have cared at all about her appearance. However, Rico didn't say a single word. Maybe he was asleep. Maybe he was passed out. Maybe he, died.

"Rico, hurry up. We have to go." Iain urged, tugging on Rico's arm. Rico opened his eyes, rubbing them with his empty hand and his mouth wide open whenever he saw the truck. "Oh. Well, at least it wasn't my truck."

"But it was mine!" Nia yelled, rolling her eyes as she looked at Rico. Iain stayed quiet, running his hand roughly through his dark brown hair as he watched Rico stumble out of the car a little bit. "Thanks for the help. I don't think we needed it at all." Iain muttered the last part, later getting insane looks from Rico and Nia. "Are you insane? We almost died!" Nia yelled. "And if we don't get away from the horde, we are." Rico added.

Madison (roseteags) | 82 comments Clark heard the snarky remark from the younger of the men, and shot him a quick glare before the girl took matters into her own hands. He began jogged back to the car and got in.
Teagan was over with Stella, hurriedly packing the bags and their food into the back. The horde was almost upon them. She heard commotion from the new group of people and glanced up to see the girl yelling at one of the guys. Uh-oh. I hope they usually get along better than this Teagan thought as she climbed back into the car.
Clark leaned out of the drivers seat, "Hurry!" he yelled to the other people. It was only a matter of seconds before the horde got close enough to attack them.
Stella had jumped into the truck, leaving the three open seats for the new people. Stella already wasn't a fan. Who would be driving like that on a road like this? They probably just picked up a group of suicidal people.
Teagan and Clark gave each other a knowing glance. These were their people now.

Iain shot a look back at the older man in the other group, crossing his arms as he looked over at their car. It looked like he could no longer relax and chill out in the back of the truck. These people had open seats, and he was going to be sandwiched between Nia and Rico, which in his mind, was not going to be pretty.

Iain ran over and quickly got a window seat, which went differently in his mind and involved a lot of pushing and shoving, maybe a threat from Rico. However when Nia and Rico got in, they didn't say anything.

Nia lightly chuckled, trying to raise the mood of everybody in the car. "Thanks for the lift! You have no idea. I saw you guys on the road and totally panicked! Somebody should have warned me." When Iain heard Nia's statement, he rolled his eyes, but didn't say a word. He actually did warn Nia by banging on the back glass of the truck. Crossing his arms and staring out the window, he didn't say a word. "I'm Rico, that's Nia, and grumpy over there is Iain. I don't think he is amused by all of this."

Madison (roseteags) | 82 comments Teagan let out a lighthearted chuckled and looked back. "It's no problem, really. We have to look out for each other now." She glanced at all of them and smiled again, "I'm Teagan." She introduced herself. "This handsome fella," she said, patting Clark's shoulder, who smiled back at her, "is Clark. And that badass in the back is Stella."

She tried to assess the new people quickly. The girl, Nia, reminded her a lot of her best friend she had back in her hometown. She wondered how she was doing with this mess. She hoped her and Nia could become friends through all of this. It would be nice to have someone there for you in the apocalypse.

The older, seemingly Mexican man looked nice enough, but Teagan couldn't imagine he would be able to do much to help. But who knew, he could have some useful skills up his sleeve.

The last guy, sitting broodily by the window, was instantly Teagan's least favorite person in the car. In fact, she wouldn't mind if he just decided to get out of the car. She didn't like feeling such dislike for someone she didn't know, but there was just something about him that irritated her.

She faced the front again.

Nia lightly laughed and grinned. She was one of those people who could possibly work at any cheerful, yet annoying job and not even complain about it. "Well, nice to meet you, Teagan! And Clark, and Stella! Wow, girl! You are one strong woman, never forget that." Nia said as if she was trying to get everybody's hopes up. Taking off her beanie and twirling it around her finger, she smiled and looked out the window.

Rico was staying quiet, examining everything that was going on like a hawk flying in the sky. He wasn't usually this way. He was usually the guy who screamed at the top of his lungs, waking up everybody in the neighborhood, when Cinco de Mayo rolled around.

Iain was not having fun. He was tired, stressed out, hungry, and plus he was squished against his seat by Nia who just kept chatting everybody's ears off, saying witty sayings. Iain thought she was trying to flirt or make time go by faster, but Iain brushed the thought off of his mind. Then, the girl sitting in the front looked back at him. He looked at her with a tired expression on his face. He didn't like her. She just seemed like a show off. Plus, she was kind of getting all up in his business looking at him like that. He looked back over at the window and looked outside, seeing some broken down cars and some dead animals on the side of the road.

Madison (roseteags) | 82 comments Teagan and Clark chatted with Nia, trying to pass the last few hours before they reached their destination. Clark and Nia were probably Teagan's favorite. Clark and Teagan had gotten along very well form the start, and Teagan didn't want to admit it, but she had a little crush on him. He was just so handsome, and the way the light was hitting his dark blue eyes just did something to her. But more than that, she knew they would build a close friendship.

Nia was quite the chatterbox, and she was very happy, but Teagan could tell she was very smart. She didn't mind her ramblings as much as some people -cough cough the grumpy Iain guy- in fact it made the whole situation seem less scary.

Things quieted down after a while. There was about an hour to go, so Teagan pulled her copy of Prince and the Pauper out of the glove box. She hoped no one would really pay attention to it as she leaned her head against the window and opened it up to her marked page.

As they neared the coastal forests more broken down cars and dead animals appeared. Teagan closed her book and began to become more aware of her surroundings. The more she looked around, the more blood and body parts she saw, thrown about. A horde definitely passed through here.

Iain rolled his eyes, looking around in the car for his bag, which was filled with his personal things, mostly he wanted his notebook and he was going to get his notebook and that stupid chewed up pencil that he brought. Unbuckling his seat belt and moving his arm around in the back, he finally found his bag. However, it wasn't his bag. It was Nia's, and it was filled with everything a girl probably needed to survive. Zipping the bag back up quietly, he finally found his leather red notebook and the chewed up pencil.

As he leaned back in his seat, he leaned against the window, putting his legs up and the notebook leaned against his legs. This was good. Writing out his feelings would help. It would, somehow. Then, the girl pulled out a book, Unbuckling his seat belt again, he rested his head on the seat, scratching his sharp jawline. "Hey, I read that book a few weeks ago," Iain started, looking at the page that Teagan was on, how did he remember her name when he didn't really care? "It actually stunk."

Nia rolled her eyes, pulling him back and smacking the back of his head. "You. You are never going to get girls! You are stupid and immature and always making some sort of rude remark! Do they make you happy?" Now Iain was seeing it, Nia was a motherly figure, but she wasn't going to be his mother.

Day One of my new life with Rico "Yellow Rice Man," Mother Nia, Man Who Gave Me a Mean Look, Biker Woman, and Pauper. I am going TO DIE.

Madison (roseteags) | 82 comments When Iain made the remark about how her favorite book "stunk," she almost reached around and slapped him.
Thankfully, Nia reprimanded him for her, making Teagan grow a slightly satisfied smirk as she resumed her book.
A little later, when she saw him writing, she muttered, "At least I don't have to write some sensitive words to get all my pent up angst out." Clark and someone in the back snorted at her remark, though she didn't know who. She guessed it definitely wasn't Iain, whom she doubted had a sense of humor about himself.

It wasn't her fault that he couldn't appreciate a classic. He was the one missing out. Anyways, his opinion didn't matter to her, and she wasn't going to dwell on it. Besides, they were almost to the perfect thick coastal forest, which would hopefully be their new home.

She could hear Stella attempting to talk to Rico in the back, but she didn't pay much attention. She noticed there was still a bit left in their beer can and she grabbed it, taking the last swig.

Iain smirked, leaning back against the car door. Nia calmed him down, which made him write in his notebook a little bit more. It wasn't a diary, okay it kind of was, and it wasn't lame, to him it wasn't, but he liked it. The chewed up pencil added some happy flame to it. Then, Teagan made a little remark towards him. Clenching his fist and breaking his pencil, he made a little sound which caused his voice to come up and down. "See? This is what happens when you do something like that, Iain." Nia said, patting his head.

Iain rolled his eyes, He did not like Teagan. He despised her. She always got on his last nerve, and it had only been a little bit over five minutes. "Well, at least, at least, at least I don't read books that suck and have three star reviews." Iain shot back, which caused Rico to say that it was lame in a cough. Leaning back, he hoped that he was done talking to her. "Also, I need another pencil."

Rico rolled his eyes. "Oh my gosh, Iain. All of the stores are probably closed because all of this. Besides, you are complaining about a pencil?" Rico stated, getting back into his conversation with Stella. "She made me break it!" Iain yelled, gesturing over to Teagan, "So, thank you."

"Somebody needs his bottle and to take a little nap." Nia whispered to Clark and Teagan, laughing softly as she leaned back in her seat. Iain didn't need a nap, or his bottle. He wanted to go home.

Madison (roseteags) | 82 comments Teagan rolled her eyes as Iain's outburst. Nia leaned forward and said something, making Teagan and Clark chuckle. He definitely was acting like a baby. "If you need to blame someone for your own actions then you have serious self image issues. And it's a renowned classic for a reason." Teagan said, she was getting really tired of this guy. Maybe if he read classics more, he'd have enough wit to make a comeback instead of breaking his pencil.

In the back, Stella piped up, "Is anyone getting hungry? I can break open a box of crackers or something. I brought a few food that can spoil, so we should eat those first."

Clark gave an enthusiastic "Yes!", and Stella passed a sleeve of crackers to the front.

Iain crossed his arms and frowned, trying to keep it hidden with his notebook in front of his face. He was not going to talk to anybody for the rest of this whole entire trip. This wouldn't last too long, right? Looking at the usable end of his pencil, he started to write again, documenting everything that had been happening.

Pauper is definitely a tough pill to swallow. She's saying that I have some self image issues? What even is that?

Rico smiled whenever Stella mentioned snacks. "Oh. If only I knew that this was coming. I could have made some mean quesadillas for the road." Rico frowned. "I have some of those little chocolate cakes also. I may have a few more left." He replied, gesturing to his bag which was lying in the back. There was no way Iain was going to get that for him.

Besides, I don't write in this stupid book to solve my anger. Well, maybe. Who cares. Nobody knows exactly why, except for me.

"Can I just have one cracker please?" Iain asked, closing his notebook and putting the useable end of his pencil behind his ear. "I don't want a lot in fear of getting sick." Iain gagged, laughing. Nia rolled her eyes and sighed.

Madison (roseteags) | 82 comments Teagan stuffed a cracker in her mouth. She was starving. However, they didn't have much time to eat.

After they drove out of the carnage zone, Clark pulled into a small dirt rode. Everyone agreed that it looked like a good spot. The forest was thick, but light. There wasn't too much foliage on the ground, but enough that they could probably put together some shelter. They would need shelter too, because the coast was very wet and rainy, and it looked like there was an incoming storm.

Just to make the end of the world even nicer. Teagan thought bitterly. She used to love the rain, but right now she was definitely wishing for it to stay away.

They drove on the dirt road for quite a while, wanting to make sure they were very deep into the forest and away from any people. When they decided it was good enough, Clark turned off the dirt road and drove through the forest floor for a bit until they found a place that looked good.

"Alright," Stella said, "we have a lot of work to do. I hope y'all don't mind but I'll assign some positions." Teagan nodded in agreement while she looked around the forest. They were in a tiny opening of trees, next to a small cliff. The leaves were red, and the ground was covered in soft, brown pine needles. It was a nice spot. It gave them lots of natural shelter, but not enough.

"Nia, hun, could you go look for dry wood so we can get a fire going? I'll go with you. Clark and Rico, you men can cut down wood and such to begin building a makeshift shelter?" Stella turned to Teagan, "And Teagan and Iain, I'd like you guys to go scout the area. Look for water sources and other helpful things, along with dangers." Teagan rolled her eyes. Going scouting with Iain seemed like torture, but she wasn't about to argue with Stella - she knew she'd lose.

As Clark drove on the dirt road, Iain decided to close his eyes and try to get some quick sleep. After all, he didn't know if he was going to get any tonight, but he needed his sleep. Closing his eyes and leaning his head on the door, he opened his eyes every single time they hit a bump, but he immediately closed his eyes again.

When everybody was getting out of the car, Iain stumbled out on his sleeping legs, stretching as he walked outside. The forest actually looked really calming and peaceful, which made Iain wish that he had brought his camera to take pictures of the beautiful landscape.

Then, Stella was assigning everybody jobs and Iain couldn't wait to figure out what his was. Finally, he could do something useful and not get critiqued by it all. It was nice. Nia had to get firewood, Rico and Clark were going to cut trees, and him and Teagan were going to scout the area.

Wait, what?!

"But," Iain began to object, but when Nia was walking past him, she gave him a quick nudge, which surprised him and almost caused him to fall over on his face. Trudging over to Teagan with his arms crossed, he looked at her. "Well, go scout the area." He told Teagan, gesturing to the area.

Madison (roseteags) | 82 comments Teagan stooped down and grabbed a knife Stella had set on a log, "I hope you don't intend to make me do this myself. You might as well be somewhat helpful if you're going to be in this group." She said bitterly, eyeing Iain with contempt.

All he had done so far was complain or make rude remarks. Who did he think he was? If he complained one more time to her, he was going to get an earful.

Teagan began to walk off into the woods, not really carrying if he came or not. Stella would probably give him her own earful if he stayed at the camp, but she would have to put up with his whiny nonsense if he did come. The only reason she actually wanted him to come was because, even though she hated to admit it, she was scared. They had passed through the same place a horde had passed through not too long ago, and on top of it it was about to start raining.

Iain held his hands up in surrender, only bringing one down so he could scratch his jawline. "Okay, okay. I'll stop, for now." He replied with a smirk on his face as he watched Teagan leave him.

He was having the sudden urge to go, see what would happen. Plus, he really wanted to go and save the world even though it probably wouldn't happen right away. It would probably happen weeks later, probably months, possibly years. The other half of him didn't want to go. He didn't like Teagan, and he was pretty sure that Teagan felt the same way about him. However, Iain went. And he went quietly, except he was humming a little song.

Walking through the woods with his hands stuffed in his pockets, he took a deep breath and started humming again, looking around the area. Iain wished he brought his camera, so e could take pictures of everything. Luckily, he brought his notebook. He could document everything in there. It just wasn't for venting out his feelings.

As Iain felt a few raindrops, he put the hood to his jacket up. He was still cold because he was wearing a sleeveless cut off shirt, his go to shirt. Plus, it was his favorite. It has the Guns N' Roses logo on it. Shivering, he looked around the area.
