I read her novels Peer e Kamil , Sheher e Zaat and another one (the name of which I don't remember now) some years ago. Personally , I think she isn't totally Islamic in her novels and yes she uses Islam to mold her story in such a way that one thinks everything mentioned in her novel is Islamic . The unaccustomed reader tries to think that she/he has got the pass to do the things mentioned in novel . Whereas Islam does not teach us that. In Islam , the rules are straightforward ; no one is allowed to talk(or keep relation) with Na-mehram unless there is some valid reason to do so and that too behind Pardah . And the talks must be businesslike as not to incite any feelings in the either of the person. But Umaira Ahmed does not write under these criteria , hence her writings are not purely Islamic.
If we look at the other side of the coin, I think her writings are at least better than the digest crap and other novels which openly inspire people to diverge from religion. Umaira Ahmed chooses the path somewhere in between. Her writings inspire one to get closer to religion to some extent at least but they don't let anyone to get away from religion. Like in Sheher e Zaat , the girl gets closer to the religion and there is no scene in that novel that leads us to conclude the the novel is diverting. Or as in Peer e Kamil , there are many scenes that are not totally Islamic but the overall story describes a bad person turning into a good person which inspires us to become somewhat like the protagonist ie: religious. Her path is somewhat better than aforementioned type of authors.
And it is kind of uncanny too. Normally religious people won't be benefited much from her novels and so her novels are mainly for people who are kindda secular . no one who is secular will read a novel which completely religious and rigid. So U.Ahmed tries to bend the Islamic teachings a little and tries to make the novel somewhat acceptable for those people. So those people read the novel and become religious slightly if not totally. So at least U.Ahmed brings some positive change in them. Even looking at it Islamically , " talking with opposite gender without physical interaction is a less severe crime than Zina or such stuff"

I haven't read her work except "Zindagi Gulzar Hai" back when i was in 8th or 9th (i dont remember precisely.). But my friend read her novel "Peer-e-kamil" and was deeply disappointed. She is someone who knows urdu literature very well. According to her, Umaira isn't a terrific writer but she uses religion in a way to make the story completely ridiculous and unbelievably fictional. Every novel is fiction but she and another novelist Nimra convey wrong message to youth making them too idealistic and imaginative, according to my observation since people around me seem to love her a lot.

Yes she is somewhat idealistic but that doesn't matter because a lot of authors are idealistic. Actually Nemrah Ahmed focuses on the small lessons and morals in her novels. The story of her novel is kept idealistic up to some extent but it is intended to be that way because it keeps a reader's interest . Every author is loved and hated by a lot of people. So your friend may be among the latter ones . Perhaps your friend does not like the genre of the novels of Nemrah Ahmed.

You are right there. Many authors are doing this thing but as far as I remember Umaira Ahmed does not label it as Islamic . She just gives an illusion which is mostly enough to beguile the readers however a true Muslim knows what is wrong so he is not affected by these things . After all we read a lot of western authors too whose writings are against the teachings of Islam. Why don't you condemn them , sir ?
As for Nemrah Ahmed , please tell me just one thing mentioned by her in her all novels as Islamic that indeed is not Islamic ?

matter is not how much Islamic she is? It doesn't matter. FIrst you have to understand whats the role of novelist
is she portraying true picture of society or our feelings ? The things people thought? does she catch those ? of-course not way near

I think who claims that Umaira Ahmad follows market, didnt try crap by other female writers. The writers who explain everything which can fascinate ladies in a way like the dresses their characters wear and even male's moustache style.Umaira Ahmad is far better and serious writer than all of those. Still i didn't like her most novels as they are having repetitive Alpha female theme but her Peer e Kamil and couple of more writings are very firm and geniously crafted plots.
Why is she popular?
Well you never noticed that you and me are star plus nation which didnt have anything to read something which could grip today's scenario.
Glory days are passed. Delhi, Lucknow things dont fascinate people. They want to know that how pre marital relations are affected by wave of unemployment?
They want to know that how mutual attractions survive in the age of IT.
They want new snd realistic topics. So that's why my friend She is popular.
P.S. No i am not fan of Nimra Ahmad.
Neither am i fan of "Khawateen Digest Literature" kind of things. It boils my blood because of irritation.
I saw the play Shehr e Zaat based on her book.Wasn't too impressed.
وہ جواز مصنفہ نے شعوری یا غیر شعوری طور پر مذہب میں سے تلاش کیا ہے۔ یعنی محبوب سے مل نہیں سکتے تو فراق عین اسلامی ہے اور ہجر اللہ کی عنایت ہے، مل گئے ہیں تو شریعت ایک دوسرے کو چھونے کی اجازت نہیں دیتی لہذا وصل کے لمحات میں ایک دوسرے پر درود پڑھ پڑھ کر پھونکیں ماریں۔
لڑکیاں اور لڑکے بھی ایسے ناول پڑھ کر اپنی ان محرومیوں کو وصف سمجھتے ہوئے چوم چاٹ کر قبول کر تو لیتے ہیں مگر اندر ہی اندر ان کے فطری جذبات سلگ سلگ کر راکھ بھی ہوتے رہتے ہیں۔
مسئلہ یہ ہے کہ جبلت بہت کمینی شے ہے، آپ اپنے آپ کو کامیاب انداز میں دھوکہ دے سکتے ہیں مگر اس کی چابکوں کے دیے درد کو نہ تو زیادہ دیر سہہ سکتے ہیں اور نہ ہی زخموں سے بھری پیٹھ چھپا سکتے ہیں۔
