Diego Montoya, the coffee baron, served a metaphorical role in the story, representing who Wyatt thought would be a more suitable life partner for Sophie. Did she do anything to contribute to Wyatt's point of view? Was there anything she should have done differently at any time?

Anita (anitanodiva) | 849 comments Why Wyatt thought Diego was a more suitable partner probably stemmed from Sophie being the daughter of wealthy diplomats and being accustomed to that life style. Even if it was no longer true. Sophie was not real forthcoming with the changes in her life and Wyatt made a lot of very wrong conclusions.

I agree, Anita. It felt as if she was unsure herself if she wanted to be with Diego. When they were at that fundraiser, Sophie knew they were both marking their territory and she did nothing to make Wyatt feel more confident. This woman drove me nuts.

Laura I got the impression that she was more into him for his job offer, and was trying to put him off for a physical relationship. She was playing everyone it seemed to me.

That, too, Laura. And she didn't seem like she believed she was playing both ends.

That is the impression I got too. She was interested in the job but not the physical relationship.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1392 comments The vibes from Diego came off as smarmy, despite his riches, and I didn't think his interest in the school or Sophie was open as a book.
Sophie, for all her background, was as dumb about men here as she was years ago.

Wyatt -- him I loved from the beginning of the story. He came flying in when she called.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 849 comments I pegged Diego for the baddie at first. Kidnap the kid, rescue her, be the hero, get the girl.

Yes, yes and yes to everything you said, Charlene.

Yep. But then I backed off because Hugh was sending me much stronger vibes.
