Years in authors names

I came across an author with a year in his name and found others with the same issue. I started to correct these, but ran into problems that are beyond my librarian knowledge. Some of the authors have similar names to already existing ones, some can be merged and some need to have extra spaces in their names as I learned. I do not know if there is a clever way to find them, but I tried finding them with 18 or 17 as a search term in the author name section. Maybe someone can help clearing them?

The first profiles is empty. As long as there are no followers and quotes or anything left in it an automated script will delete it eventually. Unless an import script uses that name.

For the second one. If you search for "Fred Newton 1860-1931" in the Library of congress this is the result. Looking at the titles I think it is safe to merge into Fred Newton Scott. You can see on the congress page he has participated in writing books about the bible, English grammar and composition.

Just FYI - When it comes to badly imported names sometimes those may have two author names in them.

You could spend days upon days with just one date. I've been working on 1851 for about a week, which is now down to 86 pages.

I will from Time to Time. I had some issues today where I merged a profile the wrong way, so I will stick to the easier ones with less books. I will be posting questions in the issues area when I do not know how to proceed. ;)
