You're welcome, Kiri! Thanks for yours as well!Debbicat, I have very vivid memories of that evening when we were searching for a Unicode cat! They have them, all right, but GR refuses to recognize them. When I tried to put the cat face in a message or post it would delete the entire post from that point on. Ugh, so frustrating. So it's best just to stick with the list I posted here, unless you're in the mood for some trial-and-error experimentation with Unicode images.

Yes, the last two in post #19 are tigers. Also, wow, when I switched my browser from IE to Google they all start showing up in color. How cool is that??
In Firefox all your animals and insects are in colour, too :)

BTW here is the page I've been using to run searches for these images: http://www.fileformat.info/info/unico... Type in whatever you want to search for, click on search, and then look for the results that have an image at the end of the line, under Preview. You can copy and paste that image.

I can't get the tiger one to work on my username. I'll keep playing with it, When I copy and paste it the symbols of the code display rather than the image. I tried it using chrome and firefox.

The cats work in comments and on the review section of a book. Just can't get them to work on my username.

Usernames on a website can be set up to censor certain unicode (the little codes that make up the pictures) so that it's harder for people to have unsearchable usernames (like, ones that are all in symbols, or ones that use symbols to spell out obscene stuff.) I don't know if that's why it doesn't work on GR, but it could be that.
Also, comments & reviews here handle html, so they are better equipped to handle complicated unicode than the field your name goes in.
^^ Kiri is my new GR BFF. I am impressed with the level of knowledge it took to write that post!BTW I just switched over to my iPad after dinner to check this thread, and Safari gives me the best images for Unicode yet! It's funny how the images look totally different on Safari.

I never use Safari on my ipad. I use google. I'll have to check that out tho. On my phone and ipad I almost always use the app. And you can't do much with the app. It's really annoying.

They're really easy to use, you just copy and paste the code you want into your own document (like MS Word, etc) and then copy and paste as needed, where you want them in your reviews. Alternatively, you can download the whole spreadsheet to use as you want.
This link will take you to them, to use however you want. Ratings Elements are on the first tab along the bottom, Quote Elements are on the second tab, Header Elements are on the third. The picture quality in the excel sheet isn't very good, so I've included a sample of each element below - so you can decide if you want anything. Enjoy ♥ ♥
