What happens when the keeper of your most embarrassing secrets starts dating your dad?
Sofia wonders if 14 might be the worst possible age to lose your mom. Talking with her dad about puberty and s-e-x is super-awkward (even though he is a gynecologist). And when she wants to talk about her mom, her friends don't know what to say and her dad gets sad.
When Sofia discovers Dear Kate, an advice columnist from Fifteen magazine, she’s grateful to have someone to confide in about everything from crushes to mourning—someone who is completely, wonderfully anonymous. It feels ideal—until Sofia’s dad introduces her to his new girlfriend, Katherine Baird, a.k.a., Dear Kate…
8 % (view spoiler)[It's been a while since I've read a MG-YA book and so far, I'm liking the writing style. It's easy to read. Kiki is so hilarious but she's quite a stubborn girl. I feel sorry for Sofia losing her mother early.. (hide spoiler)]
22 % (view spoiler)[ I really like Katherine Baird. She seems friendly and approachable woman. She gives great advises to teens. Sofia confiding to her helps as she griefs on her mom. She can open up to her dad, but it's different when it's girl-to-girl heart talk. (hide spoiler)]
40 % (view spoiler)[ I'm glad Sofia is getting along well with Kate now that she's dating her father. Alexa seems tactless and I wish she could take easy on Sofia. I know both aren't ready for a new change. Sofia is still uncertain about Kate replacing her mother. It's natural to feel like that. I think Kate needs to reassure her that she won't replace her mother and no matter what, Gregg's first priority will be his daughter.
Sam and Sofia are cute together. I hope Sam doesn't play with her feelings. (hide spoiler)]
Finished (view spoiler)[ I'm glad all parties accepted their new life. I really like Sofia because she's flexible. I like her innocence and honesty. So glad she and Alexa got along well. (hide spoiler)]
