Mari It's summer break (for most of us), what science book are you diving into?
Mari I'm currently reading The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down: A Hmong Child, Her American Doctors, and the Collision of Two Cultures.

It has been an interesting read so far. I don't know much about the Hmong culture, so I really appreciate that there is a lot of history embedded in the book. It's almost like an ethnography, but tackles the tough issue of traditional versus westernized medicine.

Gary Mcfarlane What's in Your Genes?: From the Color of Your Eyes to the Length of Your Life, a Revealing Look at Your Genetic Traits

Currently reading this. Would be good for high school - occasionally uses language that "pushes" things a bit but would not be a problem for most. Excellent explanations, humorous, funny illustrations and great analogies. She also has a useful website at http://www.beatricebiologist.com/
