Here is a 1904 review of Sea Wolf that appeared in The Guardian:http://www.theguardian.com/books/1904...
In my judgement, no spoilers, but a perhaps a bit of foreshadowing.
The following is from an Amazon review of The Sea Wolf:" The Sea Wolf is a good book, but not a great one. Though the front half shows inklings of a masterpiece along the lines of The Call of the Wild, The Iron Heel, or Martin Eden, the disappointing ending puts it in a class with middling works like White Fang."
I don't know how well those comments do or do not jibe with other critics, but will be interested if others encounter different views.
I read this title years ago. It is memorible for the psychological verve of the encounters with Wolf in the first half, only to conclude with a very wek meandering that IMO could not have suited the story worse. Same rap as Huck Finn, but Wolf is not a great novel.
This is an interesting article about the Sea Wolf. There may be some spoilers within. http://ic.galegroup.com/ic/suic/Refer...
