Scout (goodreadscomscout) | 8073 comments Why, thank you, Ian, for halfway supporting my responsible law breaking :-) Doing it gives me a little rush and takes me back to the old days. Sooner or later, I'll be caught by a traffic cam which, in my opinion is too Big Brother. And I'm definitely anti-Big Brother.

Ian Miller | 1857 comments ASs for past law breaking re driving, I can remember driving home from parties, in my opinion responsibly and being careful at intersections, with alcohol levels that would not survive these days if caught. Interestingly, I was friends with a mathematician who was commissioned to do a study on this before the law was set. The statistics were clear - it began to become dangerous at 160 mg alcohol per 100 ml of blood, so the politicians set it at 80.

More recently here a Superintendent of police said that 80 was too high - he could drink 13 standard shots of whisky and still pass, and campaigned to get it down to 50 mg. When he succeeded, he came out and said anything over 2 shots was dangerous, and two might be dangerous for some, dangerous being unable to pass the test. I get really annoyed with this when authorities deliberately lie to get their way, and there is nothing the average person can do about it.

Scout (goodreadscomscout) | 8073 comments Right on, Ian! There are too many things today that the average population can do nothing about. I have the freedom to rail against stupid laws, but I can do little to change things. Very frustrating.
