Anyone have any thoughts for a summer challenge for the group?

I like the idea of having another challenge where we have to read books that have certain catch phrases or terms in the title.

I'd love suggestions.

The challenge will probably run from July 1st to September 30, 2014.

Do you guys have suggestions for how we should set it up? Another game challenge? We did Bingo and Word Search. How about a Crossword Puzzle?

Pam | 258 comments I have been thinking about this but i really have not come up with anything. Crossword ok. maybe we can send in phrases or something. Maybe a jeopardy style kind of a

Asterope (21tauri) | 82 comments Hm, not sure if this would work.

Okay, so my idea is a sort of title acrostic, but narrowed down by a trope/theme.

For example, I pick the trope Secret Baby
That becomes my acrostic word - SECRETBABY
I then would have to read books with titles that spell this out, only the books I read have to feature secret babies. So the books need to relate and feature the theme of your acrostic word.

This can allow people for shorter words (SHEIKHS) or longer (MARRIAGEOFCONVENIENCE).

So this is a title and theme challenge rolled into one.

People could come up with their own word or you could provide a list of possible ones. Many of the words from the crossword challenge would work too.
But words like: Royalty, secret baby, marriage of convenience, arranged marriage, revenge, mistress, Italian, Greek, etc could be used.

Edit: And on the chance that there isn't a book (at all or out of your ability/access) that fits with the needed theme and letter, perhaps defaulting to a book of the same theme/trope could be read in its place, without the matching letter.

Hope I explained this correctly!

That sounds fun, Asterope.

I was thinking I would use the Jeopardy idea, but I think your idea is good for a future challenge. Thank you for the suggestion!

I am tied up with some stuff right now, but I will try to post the summer challenge in the next week or so, but I will backdate it to 7/1.

Pam | 258 comments I thought of another challenge maybe for future. I love travel. I love maps. What about how many books from other countries could we read. Or choose a continent per challenge, or month. Like HP in Europe etc. I wonder how many countries could we find. Exotic unfamiliar places is one reason why we like our HP. What do ya'll think?

I like the idea. I'm adding it to the ideas for future challenges since I am already working on the Jeopardy challenge. Thanks, Pam!

I will include some of both of your suggestions into the Jeopardy challenge.
