ok, I'll definitely look at those dates more closely...there were already a bunch of other reviews for that one already so hopefully it's all good :) I'm going to try to ease into it slowly but of course if some good ones come up I'll take what I can get!
as for After All, I'm liking it...I'm at about 85%...it's definitely a slow burn, kind of predictable...once you're done we can compare notes, lol...I don't want to say too much until you're finished

I'm not really sure there is a set time limit. As long as you download before they are archived, I think?

Judy, I agree with your thoughts on After All. I liked it but didn't love it.
I have been hoarding Netgalley books lately. I can't seem to stop myself. I have like 30 of them that I need to read, and I keep requesting and getting more. It's a disease. Someone needs to stop me!

It is...you'd want to read the other two first and they are lengthy. I still need to read #2 but I figure this will be the nudge I need. Her writing is simply beautiful.

The Venery Series is simply stunning....grab this one and have it your back pocket.....then get reading the other two. I can't say enough good things about these books!!!

Me too, Ela - not just once. They rejected it some time ago - and just for good measure I got another decline today, even though I didn't re-request it. I guess they just wanted to rub it in!!

Ohhhh, I only mean it in the sense that it may be more intellectual than I am :) However, I'm really good at taking only what I need from a story and leaving the rest. It seems to have glowing reviews!

Lisa, LOL...I think you're quite intellectual!
Leslie, I’m not sure about DNF’s - I’ve just seen that some publishers request that you let them know if you can’t review a book for some reason.
Michele wrote: "Leslie, I’m not sure about DNF’s - I’ve just seen that some publishers request that you let them know if you can’t review a book for some reason."I assumed DNF-ing is frowned upon. Since I am Queen of DNF-land, no way am I attempting Net Galley, but I'm super curious how they handle it. It would be torture for me to finish a book I dont like.
Leslie wrote: "What happens if you DNF a net galley book?"I've DNFed one or two NetGalleys. I just try to say something positive - "This one just wasn't for me" - that kind of thing. If it's truly truly awful, irredeemable, pure torture, then I'll say something. Or, I have indicated that I wouldn't be reviewing because I couldn't make it through the book. I try really hard not to pick something I know isn't going to be to my liking.
Thanks Lisa! The whole world of net galley fascinates me. It's great that you guys get lots of free books. I see youtube videos where people are gifted free products just to review them. Super cool.
I have either not liked (too much) or refused to rate because I didn't like a book. So far I have not had problems only with one author, I didn't care for his book, it just didn't work for me, gave it 3 stars and had the author email me for an explanation... nope, not going there.

I've had that happen to me once, but not through netgalley...regarding poor ratings on netgalley, does it affect books given to you in the future if you, say, dnf one or give poor ratings?

Dudettes - this one sounds so good to me. I got an email on it. It was a "Request", but I got approved pretty darn quickhttps://www.netgalley.com/catalog/boo...
And here's the blurb - they compare it to Me Before You (but then again, doesn't everyone compare their book to that or Gone Girl??/)

Go run and request it and we can read it together........

Lisa, you are a BAD influence. I will never whittle down my Netgalley at this rate....Never I say....as I run off to request this stupid book that sounds good and has cute little seahorses on the da*# cover!

I’m seriously contemplating this one. It totally sounds like one I would enjoy. Although if I do, I probably won’t read it until sometime in April. Too many commitments this month.

Judy, Grey brought up a great point about reading & reviewing within the week of release. I do that with my new releases. The ones I have that are hanging out there on NetGalley are ones that are older that I've picked up because they sound interesting....then I'm not as pushed to read them because there isn't a "due date" since they had already released prior to me getting them. Those are the ones I'm hoping to get caught up on soon.
Also, be mindful of the guidelines that certain publishers have. Some of them don't want the books reviewed too early. That hasn't been an issue for me lately since I took way too many on but when I was in my early days, I had to watch it more closely to be sure I could post things at certain times.
How are you liking After All? I'm reading it too but had to set it aside to finish another one first. I'm enjoying it though...
