And characters are generally what really makes a book for me, so that makes me really happy to hear. As long as it's well written and has great characters, I'm happy. :)

I've reached chapter 10 I'm on my phone so I won't reveal stuff happening but my god am I enjoying this I'm liking all the main characters (Suri is my fav) the setting feels right as it feels more primitive than in ryria and I'm really curious where the story goes. Also what do you guys think of the book of Brin texts I find them really interesting being like books like mistborn,Dune or assassins apprentice with the information that is revealed and I'll be interested to see how Brin is tied to this hopefully
I just finished this and really enjoyed it. It was a very quick read because you want to find out what will happen next. It has an interesting world, intriguing characters--some you'll love, others you'll despise. It's an interesting story and can't wait to see where it goes next.
I only read two chapters today, but it keeps getting more and more interesting. I'm through chapter 11 now. (view spoiler)

I really like them. They're usually very obviously relevant to the chapter or the book overall. I hate when books put some random quotation that vaguely connect.

I'm in chapter 14, definitely enjoying it. So far i have to say Arion's chapters don't grab me ad much.
I know what you mean I'm not hugely interested in those parts but it's nice to see stuff happening in the elvenlands as well as the magic I would say the magic is bigger in this world
Reading all of your comments really made me want to pick this one up. Now added to my never-ending TBR pile!
Yes, Jenna, I love that they are connected. It makes me want to know more about how they came about. The Arion chapters aren't as interesting to me either, but still enjoyable. And I'm interested to see how everything will connect.
I have just finished this morning, while I'm not going to mention anything, I will just put my conclusions in a spoiler, and just comment as everyone reads along. (view spoiler)

I've been reading your questions and of course, I'm not going to answer them, but you've got a lot of good ideas going.

Haha, good to know! This is a really good book.I can't believe it's taken me so long to read something of his!
I left the book at home so I do not recall exactly which chapter I am at but I am around 50% in.I have to say that this book is even better than the Riyria Chronicles I read. It is good since the first page, it is maybe a more "mature" book for Michael J. Sullivan and it is just perfect for me.
Also, I am growing really fond of Suri and Malcolm. They just make me smile when they are involved!
I know what you mean I like how different each of the characters are with raithe as a barbaric fighter Malcolm as a sheltered slave looking for adventure Persephone who has big shoes to fill and Suri being SuriAlso I really liked the part when they approached the waterfall and had a last word thing before jumping a bit cliche but I really like that scene for some reason
Ahdam wrote: "I know what you mean I like how different each of the characters are with raithe as a barbaric fighter Malcolm as a sheltered slave looking for adventure Persephone who has big shoes to fill and Su..."I had a long laugh when Malcolm used the rock for a second time and Raithe makes a comment to him about it. I just found it brilliantly obvious yet well planned and executed!

A good observation, hmmm we'll see. CP.

I just finished the book and I had a blast. The ending also is one of the best I have read in quite some time!
Oh man I'm still half way haven't had time to read more yet but hopefully should get it done either by tomorrow or in time to start Malice but at least I know I'll be excited for the end
I'm done. I didn't love it as Riyria but it is a very good start to a new series and considering how it ended, I believe the sequel will be great!
Samir wrote: "I'm done. In other news I have reached chapter 19 and am still continuing

There are my thoughts what a cracking series MJS has done it again for me and I haven't finished it yet
Samir and Ahdam, I agree the chemistry in Riyria, between Hadrain and Royce was fantastic. Here we had some great characters and interactions, but I think Michael is going for something more far reaching and time spanning that may not allow for that deep camaraderie .
Otherwise an excellent first book and great twist at the end.
im going to try to finish it tonight, I've been busy this week and haven't had much time. if not tonight, definitely tomorrow.
I've just finished and what a pleasure this was to read with the story characters and setting its nice to see this world in a different light as how it REALLY happened and this book has me hooked for the entire series and I can't wait how Michael will take this series to in the future I'll be posting some spoilers in the end so DO NOT READ UNTIL YOU HAVE FINISHED (view spoiler)
Man after reading this series I need to read revelations again to embrace the story with this new knowledge
I need to catch up! Trying to finish off a couple of other books, but should finish this within a few days. And then I will move straight into book two!
Just finished and I loved this! Really, I can't think of a single thing I didn't like about this book. (view spoiler)
I will most likely start that advance copy of Age of Swords in thd next day or so. I need more!
Just finished. This reminded me why I love Sullivan so much! I can't wait for the next, to find out more about all these characters.
