Sönïa Dhillion | 149 comments Hi,

I seen a book in a thread but I can't remember the name. Basically it is about a guy who is a author. He writes books on horror dark, captivity, kidnapping.
But what people don't know is everything in his book has been practiced in real life by himself. Its a series book . The author kidnaps a girl and does brutal things to her she's a captive in his basement for months.

But the girl somehow escapes . She doesn't go to the police cause she doesn't want to think about it . So she just stays low. The author even cut one of her finger off.

I remember looking at the other book descriptions and reviews. From that I found out that in the second book or the one after can't remember. But basically the heroine goes back to her normal life. But one day she's watching t.v and gets furious . Because her captors getting a award on his book which to everyone else is fiction. But the heroine knows its about all the torture he did on her. She gets so mad that she wants revenge, she apparently gets it . But the author tells her that he did other horror things to other girls. But he could not forget her. In the book after that she even becomes a psychopath like him and helps him to kidnap, kill, torture girls.

P.s I haven't read any books , its just a habit I have I read descriptions , reviews if I know its a series. Which I did in the case but forgot to shelve it in my to read.

Maybe this list will help you Sonia. I do vaguely recall hearing about this book several years ago and I thought it was made into a movie. The author was known although not in the category of a S. King by any means.

Can you recall anything else?

Thanks for asking if I can think of anything else. Its jogged my memory . I remember the book being mentioned by another person on GD . They suggested it on a captive thread , a girl read Captive in the Dark then made a thread to find similar books. I had suggested Obsession: Girl Abducted that's when another user mentioned this book. Because I was ranting on how horror obsession was . The user stated that this book was worse compared to obsession.

Sönïa, I moved your request to the Unsolved folder because you're looking for a specific book.

Ayshe | 4132 comments Pushed appears to fit the first part of your description, but not the ending (from what I read on the reviews).

Maybe you can find the thread in your notifications or subscriptions? https://www.goodreads.com/notifications

Sönïa, spoilers are okay in this group. We just ask that people give us a clear warning before revealing a spoiler - and we add "spoiler" to the topic header. A great technique is using the HTML spoiler tag that looks like this: (view spoiler)

Ayshe | 4132 comments I haven't read the book itself, just people's reviews, according to one: (view spoiler)

Now that I looked at them again I noticed this one: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show... where the reviewer describes what would she have done differently and it seems like the ending you listed.

Ayshe thanks a ton hun. Your right I remember now. See the second review you mention. Thats the review I had read . But I don't know how I missed the part where the reader had said if she HAD WROTE THE BOOK . Then the ending would be this.

I was in a dark, horror, vile read mood and the readers ending stayed with me.

Since I found the ending so good . That now I think that when I think of the book.

I suppose its like the Hannibal tv series. I like the back and forth. That Will and Hannibal give eachother. But its one thing to fight back.

But it is a creepy thought on how police, FBI, detectives etc. Say that you need to think like the criminal to beat them. But what if your so broken by the criminal . That they have morphed you into vile animals like them?.

Ayshe | 4132 comments I'm glad this is solved.

It can probably be interesting plot but I no longer have "strength" for dark (or emotionally heavy) genres, "No Country for Old Men " was my last read that confirmed that :)
