Elise (ghostgurl) | 1028 comments I finished Dark Matter. It was super good and left me breathless by the end.

Switching things up now and reading The Glass Castle: A Memoir.

I enjoyed Promise of Blood. I thought I read it here but it must've been the series group.

message 53: by Margret (new)

Margret Yes Helen it was in the series group recently. I think there's only a few of us who consistently join in on that one :)

I tried so hard to read that second Abraham one but I just don't like it! I have Daughter of the forest finally and of course the series is over. I must stop signing up to all the buddy reads, I should limit it to a maximum of 5!

Yea, I've given up also. So, I diving right in.

message 56: by Joseph (new)

Joseph | 1651 comments Finished All the Birds in the Sky and, for something completely different, started Swords Against Darkness, a brand new anthology of sword & sorcery fiction edited by Paula Guran. I think it's all reprints, going back to Robert E. Howard and C.L. Moore, and ranging to Scott Lynch and Saladin Ahmed. I've read a good chunk of the stories before in other settings, and they're all first-rate stuff.

message 57: by Lára (new)

Lára | 479 comments I´ve given up on 30 books already and I´m not quite sure what´s wrong. I´ve tried reading some new literature becase I´ve been told that I´m missing a lot, but obviously I´m not.

So I´m reading Beren and Lúthien because it´s the story I know (even tho it´s quite different than the ones told before) and I´ve been rereading some older books, mostly asian. I really miss my university

Finished Un Lun Dun. Here's my review. I'm currently reading Promise of Blood (finally). This is turning out to be a really good read.

Brenda ╰☆╮ (brnda) | 1494 comments Yes!

American Gods... finally!

message 64: by Ctgt (new)

Ctgt | 142 comments Just about finished with The Rise and Fall of D.O.D.O., it's been pretty good, especially considering I'm not a huge Stephenson fan.

message 65: by Chris (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 916 comments I finished The Crimson Campaign and went right into the 3rd book, The Autumn Republic.

I also started a new audiobook: Fool's Assassin

message 66: by Heather (new)

Heather (bruyere) I just couldn't get over how weird it was that men were snorting gun powder in Promise of Blood...and spitting on the floor, and smoking. It was such a "manly" book! I can only think that the author has never been around gun powder to think of that.

Margret I loved the whole snorting gunpowder premise! And how the mages would get addicted and be all like "I'm cool man I'm cool, just a little more gunpowder I can quit anytime"

Okay, I agree that was pretty funny.

I'm going to read The Shadow of the Torturer before I start The Black Company. I finished Promise of Blood. Absolutely loved it. Probably going to give it a 5-star. Working on the review and will post it tonight or tomorrow. A lot going on at work. We had a major fire at the plant I work at and so been consumed with work.

message 73: by Heather (last edited Jun 29, 2017 10:38AM) (new)

Heather (bruyere) Yikes, major fire sounds scary. Good luck!

I just finished a YA urban fantasy The Raven Boys and really enjoyed it. I typically NEVER like urban fantasy.

message 74: by Javier (new)

Javier (salvatemarty) | 115 comments finished Stephen king's IT. finally. its like reading the Bible. I also liked it a lot.

Great news is nobody was hurt. Bad news, it's going to be a long re-building process.
