Sarah | 18550 comments Excellent. Were moving along nicely. I think Marie was going to look at the weapons section so hopefully we'll fill a few there.

Laura that would be fab if you did wrench with cinder. I think that would give you bonus points for its length too. Isn't 400 pages? It would be great if you could do the kitchen tasks too. How many books are you planning on reading?

message 52: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments Laura - not sure a carnival would work unless there's a tightrope walker?!

Bonus! I'll check back later and see where the gaps are and delve into my library then :-D

message 55: by Laura (Lclwags) (new)

Laura (Lclwags) (lclwags) | 698 comments Sarah - I can definitely do 2. 3 if at least one is an audio book. I'll do the wrench and kitchen for sure. If we need a second purple one, I can re-read Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. My audio book version is the one with the almost entirely purple cover. Also it's 453 pages, so more points!

message 56: by Jannene (last edited May 31, 2017 08:31AM) (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments I have a bunch of books that fit for blue and three books fit for purple, two for green, and four red books. I have a bunch of white but Sarah said she has that covered. One book that is yellow.

Purple
Shocking Pink by Erica Spindler 554
Riot Act (Charlie Fox Thriller, #2) by Zoë Sharp 320 I will do this one
Plum Island (John Corey, #1) by Nelson DeMille 592 (name plum works, right?)

I will do revolver. I have 3 audiobooks that fit.

message 57: by Jannene (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments Does a Bed and Breakfast counts as "owner" for dagger/knife? I have September Mourn (Bed-and-Breakfast, #11) by Mary Daheim that looks like it fits. (Not enough yellow for that task.)

message 58: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Janice, if I remember correctly The Magician's Lie was more about theatres and not circus. They do travel around, just not with a circus. I think she was also the main act, not like a circus where you have all kinds of stuff.

message 59: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments I did a quick search on amazon just to be sure, and circus is not mentioned in the book at all, except once in the beginning when someone who read it compares it to the night circus.

message 60: by Annette (new)

Annette Olsen | 205 comments I am planning on doing mostly weapons. So far I have everything but the wrench... still working on it. Let me know if there's something we need more than weapons. It's not too late to switch it up for me.

message 61: by Annette (new)

Annette Olsen | 205 comments I just saw that someone is reading Cinder for the wrench... that book is on my want to read list. I didn't think of it so with that...I can ready any or all of the weapons if that's what's needed! :)

Jannene | 3124 comments The Immortal Circus: Act One is on sale today for $1.50

message 64: by Annette (new)

Annette Olsen | 205 comments Here's what I've gotten for weapons and what I intend reading (unless some other task needs filling)

Lead pipe - Pressure Head or The Legend of Kevin the Plumber

Wrench - Cinder

Candlestick - The Circus Fire: A True Story of an American Tragedy

Knife - The Lost Art of Mixing

Rope - Nights at the Circus

Revolver - Either The Gun Seller or The Vesuvius Club

I will try to keep track and see what others are doing. If there is something not being covered and one of these catagories is I will find something else. I kinda enjoy the gophering

Sarah | 18550 comments I have updated the spreadsheet. We have a few duplicates now on both the persons and the weapons but still a couple short on the rooms. We have doubled up on red, purple, blue, green and white; candlestick, revolver, rope and wrench. This is good though as we're not far off completing those sections again.

We still need someone to read something for the study though then we'd have a full sweep!

@Laura - your Harry Potter audiobook reread would work for this task as it's set in a school with very studious students! Would you be able to fit that in too or not?

message 66: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments Doing good so far. Everyone has checked in now except Amanda so hopefully she will pop in soon too.

message 67: by Laura (Lclwags) (new)

Laura (Lclwags) (lclwags) | 698 comments Sarah- Sure! I won't turn down an excuse to listen to Harry Potter. :) Actually, I can use the Order of the Phoenix, since it's over 650 pages. I'm traveling next week, so it's the perfect time for an audio book.

Perfect. And that will grab us some bonus points too. :-)

message 69: by Sam (new)

Sam (ecowitch) | 2354 comments I have a re-read for the study room with The Dragon's Eye which has not 1 but 2 studious main characters!

message 70: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments @Sam - Laura has a book for the study (i've not added it to the spreadsheet yet) but by all means read that one if you want to. We've covered all tasks now so we're doubling up on a second runthrough.

message 71: by Sam (new)

Sam (ecowitch) | 2354 comments No problem Sarah, I can prioritise my reads to suit what we need to cover. I'll make sure I still start with The Fireman given the extra points we get from the length of it and go from there :-)

message 72: by Lanelle (new)

Lanelle | 4028 comments Sarah, are you wanting me to focus on the coloured books or the weapons?

message 73: by Amanda (Mandy) (new)

Amanda (Mandy) | 762 comments Sorry everyone, but I am here. I was out of town for the holiday weekend and didn't have internet. I will get to gophering and update shortly. I will attempt to read 2-3 books for this toppler.

message 74: by Amanda (Mandy) (new)

the ones I was looking at before are unavailable. But this one's about restoring a house so it will work. And I already have it!

How many books do you think you will be able to read? Which are your preferences? I can add them to the spreadsheet.

message 79: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59972 comments I've added the link to our spreadsheet to message 2 for easy access. Please check to see that you have your desired reads indicated. X marks the spot.

We have you down for the colours. Check out the spreadsheet.

That's cool. I am unable to update it on my phone or kindle I guess because it reverts to mobile friendly site but it is fine on my laptop.

message 82: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments If anyone wants to pick up a yellow read we would complete the colour section for a second time. And knife, plumber and rope which would allow us to complete the weapons section for a second time.

Could be good if you focused on the rooms Amanda as we don't have any duplicates there. Let us know which you fancy and we can put you on the list.

message 83: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments Please check the spreadsheet and make sure you are listed and the right amount of books you are reading are right. I'm aiming for 3 so I'm listed for 3. Hopefully I can read more but I'm not committing to any more tasks as yet, we'll see what happens and I'll slot those in as and when.

I updated to show mine yesterday on the spreadsheet. I had hoped it was ok.

Janice (jamasc) | 59972 comments Jannene wrote: "I updated to show mine yesterday on the spreadsheet. I had hoped it was ok. ..."

Yes, it's okay. Just make sure that you put a message here saying that it was updated.

For example - I've switched from Blue Cover to Rope and have updated the spreadsheet.

message 87: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59972 comments I've checked the spreadsheet and I'm down for 4. I'm going to start on the rooms with

Ballroom - The Ballroom
Billiard Room - Beartown

Looks like "B" is the theme for me.

Will do. I don't see how these books aren't yellow. I checked Tineye and they aren't close enough. Are we sure it works?

Devil's Corner by Lisa Scottoline
The Innocent by Harlan Coben
Kill All Happies by Rachel Cohn green? Am I color blind?

message 89: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59972 comments I added another column to the spreadsheet with the numbers of times a task is spoken for. That way, you can easily see which tasks we need to get the bonus points.

For those of you still gophering or haven't indicated their preferences yet, I would recommend that rather than adding a third book to a task, flesh out the ones that only have one book. That way, we'll get more bonus points.

Make sure you untick the box about extracting background or something like that. Also add up all the "yellow" components as it splits it down in to types of colour. I would say all 3 of those would be fine.

Sounds like a plan!

message 92: by Jannene (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments I edited the spreadsheet to say 175-399 not "300" like it had said. I wondered what happened to the other 99 pages. :)

@Sarah, unticking that box changed everything! Thank you!

Marie, we need yellow not white. I made that same mistake. Do you have a yellow one?

You've marked yourself down for Yellow. Jannene is right. We need yellow jot white and then all the colours are covered twice.

Jannene | 3124 comments I will read Plum Pudding Murder (Hannah Swensen, #12) by Joanne Fluke

This fits many categories; yellow, dagger/knife, and kitchen. We can move around if needed.

Andrea | 3 comments Hey, I am not a team member and just stumbled upon this thread, but if you still search for yellow books and if someone is a German speaker in your group, go with books by Reclam - most of those books are classic literature and they are yellow :) And if you are still looking for a circus themed book for the rope section, why not go for Geek Love by Kathrin Dunn. Don't hope it is against the rules for an outsider and onlooker to give some ideas, but just though I mention it. If unwanted, please just delete the comment. Good luck :)

Thanks for the tips. It's always good to get a little help, from a team mate, a member of another team or someone who isn't in any of the teams. Thanks Andrea. :-)

Amanda (Mandy) | 762 comments I am on my phone so I can't link the message. Sarah I will focus on the rooms as requested. I will do the kitchen, hall, and library. They should be quick reads. If I end up going through them quicker than anticipated, then i will let you know.
