Dracula by Bram Stoker - Restarting October 14th 2020

There's a lot more action than I thought there'd be, but I still find that I'm reading incredibly slow! Only just started chapter 4

It's because the chapters are super long. The audibook has 16 hours @.@.

Also, his research regarding the romanian culture was not that great. It's the sort of research you get nowadays from wiki. He probably stayed there 3 days, got robbed and returned home to write this book XD. (hide spoiler)]

Depending how small that writing is.... 10 pages could take quite a while to read :P .

(view spoiler)[That creepy journal of the ship's captain was the first time I was actually frightened by this book. Those poor seamen. I think that being haunted on a ship you can't run from is the worst >.<.
I'm also annoyed by all the blood Lucy is receiving. How is that plausible? You need a certain type of blood in order for the transfusion to be successful, you can't just get blood from everybody <.<. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[And now she's dead. I'm not sure why Van Helsing didn't do anything to try and catch the vampire before he killed Lucy. All that blood transfusions and guarding her and stuff felt like such a waste of time. Really, the Lucy chapters felt like a filler. :( (hide spoiler)]

We had a readalong in Denmark a while ago (some Danish bookblogger who arranged it) and they felt like they were reading a whale encyclopedia at times xD

I'm actually liking the descriptions stop far, not sure what else might happen, I am wondering about the letters between Lucy and Mina though xD

Same. and I was being kind hearted because this was a 2 star read.

About the ending:
(view spoiler)[Jesus, this had no climax. They like killed him in a second. Quincy died as well for drama's sake, because really, there's no reason to die from a knife wound when you have 2 doctors at your side but, whatever. They didn't even try to save him, lol <.<. (hide spoiler)]

In this end, what role did Renfield play in this story? I never really got it. @.@

I loved the first 15% and I'm about a quarter the way through and I'm wondering why is any of this relevant to the story and it's just a lot of babble and rubbish. I want to get back to Jonathan.

My only issue was the ending, felt like it just ended because it had to end, their win was too convenient (view spoiler)[(except that to even it out they killed off Quincey but I didn't feel for him anyway so it's fine if he died haha) (hide spoiler)]
