I know this movie is being released again. I cannot find many book reviews on the original book from 1966.... I'm trying to decide if I should read the book before seeing the two movie versions. Has anyone read it? Is the book worth it?

I've seen both movie versions and am currently reading the book. I think the book is worth it. You really get better insight into the characters and their motivations than what you see in the movie.

I read the book in anticipation of the new movie release. The book was not what I expected and it appears that both movies, from what I've gathered, stray pretty far from the book. With this said, I really enjoyed the book and don't feel that I need to see the movie now, as the book was much more developed than the movie appears to be.
