Chapter 3

I'm pretty sure Alex is the hero but it seems that he's hiding something big and got himself on the team by lying.
Why wasn't the criminal they were transporting chained? Why did he have the boots on that weren't regulation? why there is only one marshal instead of 2? (hide spoiler)]

This story reminds me of the movie Shoot to Kill with Sidney Poitier, Tom Berenger and Clancy Brown about a criminal disguised as a hiker being chased through the mountains by an FBI agent - great film!

The SAR team - (view spoiler)[I'm really not getting a positive vibe from any of them. There is way too much testosterone in that group.

Also, I think one of them is up to no good. First the GPS have been tampered with and I think Ryan may be suffering from food poisoning. (hide spoiler)]

Alex: Yes he doesn't seem nice. I'm wondering how he knew that they wouldn't be able to contact the base during the mission because if they could, the sheriff would have told them about Alex and his lies. He is 10-15 years older than Brynn , what do you think about the age difference?

Darrin: I think there'd been a plan for him to escape but the plain going down hadn't been part of it. I'm sure there are other people in on this. But why would anyone wants to set a serial killer free?!

Liam: The pregnancy thing aside, he seems that he cares about Brynn, he wants to go after even in this weather but this being a romantic suspense and Liam not being the hero , there will be a twist!
Whitenhall: He sounds like the bad guy.

The team: I liked Ryan and Jim but not Thomas. I think Thomas's gruffness is red herring though. He isn't the bad guy. Ryan ate the bar that Jim gave him so Jim could be the bad guy but I doubt that.
I think the bad guy is not on the team but someone in the base. (hide spoiler)]

Alex - (view spoiler)[I'm not sure if Brynn's estimation of Alex's age is correct. He's the same age as Jack from the last book (they were at college together). I think that he looks older than he really is because of the grief and the anxiety. (hide spoiler)]

Wow that's true. That is interesting, we are reading the sae book. A reason foe this different opinion could be the difference between listening to the audio and reading. I'm listening!
I didn't have much time today I'm in chapter 8 . Ch 7 &8 gave a good background about Alex and what happened with his brother. And I think the bad .guy is obvious now.

Alex's background - (view spoiler)[The details about Samuel's death and the connection the Darrin explain a great deal about what Alex is doing with the SAR team.

How could he have married Monica when it was obvious she couldn't care less about Samuel? Love really is blind.

I'm glad that Alex told Jim the truth - his lies did not present him in a good light at all. It doesn't help that his obsession makes him appear unstable (hide spoiler)]

Also, it seems that the plane crash might not have been an accident. Did Whitenhall deliberately sabotage the plane?

Sleeping with a reporter - now that is a big no-no. How the heck did he manage to become a US Marshal?

Surely someone other than Alex noticed all of the poor decision he was making?

I thought the same about the US Marshal service. There must have been someone else who noticed the low security on Darren.

I liked how everything went down. The suspense was good and believable. The romance wasn't really romance. It was more like a very mild HFN. I was OK with that. There's no guarantee that they would stay together, just that they are giving it try.
As for Paul whittenhal I thought he might be a relative but then thought if this was the case it would have come out during the investigation. I guess I was wrong. (hide spoiler)]

Brynn and Alex (view spoiler)[ I'm going to put them in the "lust" folder and heat of the moment category rather than romance ,HEA and love folder. This way I'm absolutely happy with what happened. Specially since they didn't say ILYs (hide spoiler)]

Finished last night and I enjoyed it but (view spoiler)[I wouldn't classify it as romantic suspense. It is definitely more of a thriller as the romance is really just lust at first sight and the emotional attachment is forced and illogical. (hide spoiler)]

Brynn - (view spoiler)[annoyed me with the mixed signals she was giving to LIam. She kissed him back and snuggled up to him when it was obvious that she wanted Alex. Not good! (hide spoiler)]

I finished Chilled earlier in the week, but haven't had a chance to stop in until tonight. I really enjoyed this book. I loved the setting and thought the suspense was well written.

I agree that this book is more thriller than romantic suspense. I didn't mind the "romance" between Alex and Brynn, but thought it could have been better. I agree that she annoyed me with her mixed signals.

Absolutely if you don't mind reading out of order. The stories are not connected. The hero had a very small part in the first book.

The romance in #1 was better than #2 but the suspense in #2 was better.
