☕ Lachgas ♿ (lachgas) | 9386 comments Page count from amazon isn't quite accurate on amazon on print books. WorldCat is the more precise source mostly, their system is a more GR LIKE one on how to count the pages.

David Raz (davidraz) | 13124 comments At the risk of stating the obvious, page count from book-in-hand is the most reliable source (except for Kindle where Amazon is). As long as the existing page count is from a different source (Amazon, worldcat, publisher) we will prefer book-in-hand.

The problem is what to do where the page count is already book-in-hand, i.e. same ISBN was used for two publications. If the cover is even slightly different, we will create an alternate cover edition. Otherwise, I was told not to create a new edition just for the sake of a (different publication with a) different page count. I am not aware of any solution to this.

An interesting absurd is that if there is no cover, we will create an edition per publication date.
