Personally, I feel that by limiting attire to gender-specific norms, there's the potential of creating a hostile work environment from various perspectives.
I think it would definitely be hard to hop a fence in a skirt! But I guess I've never done it in work pants either ;) it would be interesting to find out just when women on the job started wearing pants and holstered on their hip as opposed to in their purse?!
But for those women who don't have a protection assignment and are in the office all day, why can't we wear a skirt or high heels and not feel guilty?
When do you suggest we have the book read by? I know everyone is busy and it's just going to get busier but I just purchased the book.
I've worn dresses a few times to the office, as long as I have my gun and can perform my job I don't see the problem in it! Protection...it's obviously not practical although it was funny in the book seeing her pictured in dresses alongside the protectees!! I think it's nice to kinda break the stereotype that being in law enforcement means you can't be feminine.
I think we agreed the book to be read by the end of the month ....is that doable?? Please feel free for those that have read the book or are deep into it, pose other questions or discussions. I think it's cool to see what's important to everyone in regards to topics in the book. On a side note, did anyone see Wonder Woman yet??!!
Good morning ladies! Hope you are well and finishing up the book! I wanted to start a discussion when/where we can meet to chat about our thoughts re: Behind the Shades. Since we're aiming to be done by the end of the month, would you like to meet the week of 4th of July to discuss? During lunch hour or happy hour, haha?!? Maybe the 6th or 7th?!
Also, let's throw out some titles for our next reading adventure!!!

I'm good for this week....during lunch as of now. Ivanka Trump wrote a book called Women Who Work. NY Times best seller. Thoughts?
Has anyone started WWW yet? I'm enjoying some of the chapters! I think we can get some healthy discussion from this one!

I figured I would get this thing started and open up the discussion with a question regarding the attire of the first female agents. Skirts? Do you ladies think this should translate into today's Service?
Coming from the military, I've always been in some type of uniform and usually pants. It is hard to function in a skirt. Although, there is a time and place for them. I think it's hard enough to be accepted into a "male dominated" career and wearing a skirt may just make it harder for us?!
What are your thoughts? No right or wrong here, just a healthy discussion to get the ball rollin' and give everyone time to join the group and start reading the book!
