Me too as I also have Sharp Objects on my shelf :-)
 Ann,
Ann,your books this month are just wow but I cannot decide on one (yet). Let's see if I can break a tie or have to make up my mind within the next week between LaRose and Bad Feminist :-)

That's great :) I think we could all read it together.... Sharp Objects is a short read, just around 250 pages.

When do you leave? How long will you be there? Tell us more..."
I really can't stress enough how grateful I am for even the opportunity to travel that far abroad. We are very excited. My spouse has been to Europe before but I have never been to another continent yet. Most of my travelling so far has been in Canada, the states and caribbean countries.
We are going in June for a wedding. A week in Spain and then we want to go somewhere else for a week. I know it's nuts to be this close but we haven't decided where yet. Any recommendations from you guys would be amazing. We have always wanted to go to Italy together but I have been trying to lose weight for so long that I am scared to eat our way through Italy LOL! I sound nuts but it's true. We have been recommended Berlin and of course Croatia and Greece. The only thing is I have to watch our money as it wasn't the ideal time for us to go with the economy being what it's been the last two years. But I couldn't miss one of my childhood best friends weddings. It's crazy though with our dollar. I put a deposit on something yesterday and $100 EURO is $151.69 CAD 8-( That is supposed to be a wide eyed emoji face lol I think we may have to wash dishes a lot at restaurants and maybe sleep in tents sometimes. jk
My friends are going to Paris and surprising their two little girls with Paris and Disney. They have no idea they're going and it's going to make their whole trip seeing the kids faces. I would mostly just want to see the Louvre and the landmarks there of course but we have been looking elsewhere mainly so far. We have thought about renting a car and driving the south of France though instead.
Ann...do you have recommendations? I don't think I realized you lived there. That's amazing! I love how close these groups bring us together. Goodreads, I love you so much!

Yes, Patricia! I think you must be right. It wasn't super high on my bucket list but since we have been thinking about going we have heard nothing but amazing things. A guy that works for Bill just went for two weeks not long ago and said he spent a week in Barcelona and his second week in London and if he could do it all over again he would have stayed the whole two weeks in Barcelona. That's saying something!

Thank you so much, Ann! If you get a chance and don't fall asleep reading my long winded answer to Vicki, there was a piece in there for you too! lol Thanks again so much for the tip! Locals tips are the best! I actually got to see a secret natural hot springs because of a local once. One of the best things I had ever done and saw. So grateful.

I haven't either, Dana! It will be the first time for me travelling that far. Thanks so much. And I now you will go there too sometime. Us Canadians love seeing new things and meeting new people. I wish you were coming! We could meet each other and see Europe together. How cool would that be?!
Perri wrote: "Oh my, Amy, that sounds divine! Do you go for the culture? Museums? beach? Do you speak Spanish? Do me a favor, eat tapas and think of me :)"
Perri wrote: "Oh my, Amy, that sounds divine! Do you go for the culture? Museums? beach? Do you speak Spanish? Do me a favor, eat tapas and think of me :)"Definitely the culture, museums and sites. And food of course. We are big foodies. I am all about seeing some of the wonders of the world. I have only seen one so far. Chichen Itza in Mexico. And no, sadly I have been ignorant and haven't learned Spanish yet. I keep saying I am going to and don't try and learn it. I am hoping to take a class when I move back to the city. I haven't seen one offered here.

Back to books though. I'll post my votes ASAP. Probably Saturday.
Back to books though. I'll post my votes ASAP. Probably Saturday. Also, I thought I saw somewhere that you guys might do Cinder. If it's the beginning of June I might be able to get in on that one. Someone amazing gave it to me for Christmas and said they didn't think they would be into it but absolutely loved it.
Don't apologize at all, Amy-it's fun to live through your excitement vicariously! My vote (as a virtual member of your entourage) would be for Italy, especially since you love culture, museums and food. I get your concern about gaining weight, but think of all the walking you'll be doing! If you do gain, you can always work harder when you get back. But what an opportunity!!

I was in Salou 110 odd km from Barcelona and visited Cambrils with its old 17th century watchtower by the harbour, Llarga beach is nice too. The other times I've visited the Canaries - Lanzarote, Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura.
Greece is lovely as is Turkey and Kefalonia in May is gorgeous with all the hills covered in flowers. The scenery in Rhodes is amazing with all the old whitewashed town houses and ancient ruins.

Sounds good to me for June as I have so much to catch up on at the mo.
Oh Amy I wish, that would be amazing! The furthest I am going in the near future is Chicago haha (which I am still excited about). I agree with everything Perri said, Italy would be amazing and has so much history. Although, my votes would be Germany or Greece. So jealous, I will need to see your pics :)

OK....back to books. There are so many "more" good choices, lol.

Sophie- I added more to my WTR list, lol.
Ann- Ah...I can tell you about emotional books if you ever need more, lol.
Amy in case you decide to go to Berlin I can also recommend a sidetrip to Cracovia (Polish: Kraków) in Poland (around 400 kilometers from Berlin). It was Polands second capital and got a university as second city in Europa (third in the world) with beautiful museums, great architecture, the old castle (Wawel) and so much more. It's one of the most beautiful city I've ever seen and great for holiday, students or artist - for living there not so much ;-)

 Romanticbookworm,
Romanticbookworm, can't decide between Madame Tussaud, My Sweet Revenge & Catch of the Day. I'll wait a few days and see if I can help with a tie.
Thanks for your votes all, so far it looks like The Secret of Spellshadow Manor is going to be my winner.
Thanks for your votes all, so far it looks like The Secret of Spellshadow Manor is going to be my winner. Amy- have an amazing time in Barcelona, I've been before and it's a brilliant city. If you fancy a change from the traditional Spanish places some of the Irish bars in Barca are awesome. We also visited a town about an hour outside of there called Figueres (birthplace of the artist Dali) and it was beautiful. Hope your friends have an awesome time in Paris, I'm going next weekend (June 2nd) for a hen party (think you guys across the pond call it a bachelorette?) and am trying to find a time to take my little one to Disneyland Paris. If you're looking to watch your money, I can recommend the Algarve in Portugal. My friend and I went last year to a place called Albufeira and it was soo cheap and had a great mix of traditional Portuguese culture and lively party bars.
Lisa- Glad you were able to add some more books to your TBR list. Part of what I love about PIFM is seeing other people's lists and picking up on books I might not normally have stumbled upon!

This spring we drove along the Italian coast down from Turin and back into France. We were in the Italian Alps.
The landscape was lovely all along the coast - small towns and famous places and inland scenery are lovely too - San Remo, Monte Carlo (are you a James Bond fan?) , Antibes and Aix-en-Provence which is inland.
There are great places to discover.
Let me know what you decide - I'm happy to think out some specific ideas if I can, once you've decided on an area and hey, if you make it to Montpellier - we can have a group photo !
 Oh yes, Amy,
Oh yes, Amy,I have my in-laws visiting for a long weekend, but I'll try to check in on this thread. June is coming around pretty soon for your trip.

Hi Dana!
Actually Barcelona and its region are one of my favourites - (have a great time Amy)
And I like exploring Italy - it's so beautiful- the villages and the landscapes are stunning. This Spring we went to Turin and then travelled back to France along the coast - it was lovely.
