This was a fun one that made me smile. The style felt reminiscent of some of the classic SF short stories plus the omnipresent Gaiman twist.
I've always liked Arthur C. Clarke's short stories, and I think I read Tales from the White Hart way back in high school although I can't remember it well. This was a nice homage with a pretty obvious ending, but still fun.
