Christopher | 11 comments Hello! :)
as the title implies, I am looking for Star Wars book suggestions!
CURRENTLY
I have read
Catalyst, Lost Stars, Bloodlines, Thrawn, and am currently reading the Thrawn (Heir to the Empire) Trilogy

I know that I plan on reading the rest of Timothy Zahns works (Thrawn Duology, Outbound Flight, Survivor's Quest, Allegiance, Choices of One.. and MAYBE Scoundrels)

Do you have any other Star Wars Book/Series suggestions?

Well I have on my book shelf the Han Solo Trilogy, Paradise Snare, The Hutt Gambit and Rebel Dawn, which I enjoyed. It's about Han before he meets up iwith Luke and Ben. I also have, by Timothy Zahn, Spectre of the Past and Vision of the Future

Amber Martingale | 264 comments I have a suggestion for three to AVOID, Christopher.

1. Death Troopers: Zombies have no place in STAR WARS
2. Red Harvest: Old Republic era prequel to Death Troopers and
3. Revan: The anagrams of the name Revan are bloody f*****g awful.

HAHA Thanks! :)
I wasn't too interested in the whole "Zombie Star Wars" thing anyways... its an interesting concoction... and obviously an acquired taste haha

Do you have any suggestions for ones I SHOULD read? :)

Jamie Hicks (jamiehicks73) | 35 comments For me "Shadows of the Empire" is my favorite. To me it has the most Star Wars "feel". If I remember correctly one reviewer back in the day said that "you can almost hear the music of John Williams". This novel bridges TESB and ROTJ the same way Rogue One goes into A New Hope. If you're a Boba Fett fan also he is awesome in this as well. Also the Timothy Zahn Trilogy that begins with "Heir to the Empire" is very cool. Here we see Luke as a highly skilled Jedi and likely at his peak since the fateful day Obi Wan gave him his father's light saber.

Shadows of the Empire even has its own music!

Shadows of the Empire is definitely one of the ones I would recommend that you read. Another one is I, Jedi since it's the only one in 1st person narration and not narrated by Luke, Han or Leia.

Jayme (jarkaruus) | 4 comments Which "shadows of the empire"? I see two authors under that title.

I assume she means the Steve Perry one

Jayme (jarkaruus) | 4 comments Okay cool ! Thank you 😊

message 11: by Jamie (new)

Jamie Hicks (jamiehicks73) | 35 comments Yes, the Steve Perry version. I didn't know there was another?

message 12: by Jayme (new)

Jayme (jarkaruus) | 4 comments Yes same title but by John Wagner ?

message 13: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale | 264 comments The Wagner one was the Jr. novelization, I think. Or he could have been involved int he graphic novel version. I'm referring to the Steve Perry original.

Checking... .Wagner was one of the people involved in the graphic novel, which I haven't read yet, so I was referring to the Steve Perry novel. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/4... is for the graphic novel and https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/9... is the original novel.

Jamie Hicks (jamiehicks73) | 35 comments Right, the comic series. It too was quite good! I even bought the figures and played the game for Nintendo N64. I totally immersed myself into it!

Amber Martingale | 264 comments My dad laughed so hard he spit his iced tea out when I told him this was one STAR WARS novel where you HAD to root for the EMPIRE to win.

Dad: "Why?"

Me: "Because if the Empire LOOSES, Dad, Prince Xizor, the STAR WARS version of Don Corleone, will kill Luke and get revenge on Darth Vader at the same time."

Mom: "How will killing Luke accomplish that?"

Me: "Vader killed all but one member of Prince Xizor's family, Mom."

Dad: "I get it. If Vader looses his son, he'll know what kind of pain he caused Prince Xizor."

Me: "BINGO!"

Jamie Hicks (jamiehicks73) | 35 comments And of course May the Force Be With You......

message 21: by Timothy (new)

Timothy Coffelt | 19 comments I haven't read any of the new books since they rebooted the timeline. I know there aren't a ton of them yet, but how do they compare to the EU books?

Just about all the new ones are better than the book about Revan and the two that mashup STAR WARS and zombies. Hell, even the Twatlight saga and FSOG are better than those three.

message 25: by Timothy (new)

Timothy Coffelt | 19 comments I didn't think Revan was as bad as The Crystal Star or Darksaber, but the zombie ones were definitely trash.

message 26: by Amber (last edited May 16, 2017 10:41AM) (new)

Amber Martingale | 264 comments The poor quality of the anagrams on Revan's name ruined the book for me, Tim. Even "Nerva" would have been a better anagram...especially since I think that's a real name from Earth history.

Checking... .

Correct. "Nerva" is a real name from Earth history and therefore one that Mr. Karphyshyn COULD have used INSTEAD of "Avner" and "Vaner." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nerva http://www.roman-empire.net/highpoint... http://www.ancient.eu/Nerva/ https://www.britannica.com/biography/... and http://www.pbs.org/empires/romans/emp... are all links to the man.

Speaking of that, has anyone else seen this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ed2AR...
