Don't Get Fined! A Library Adventure
I've been reading for as long as I can recall, but I'm still by far no speed reader, so practice hasn't helped me gain that talent. Some is simply how fast one's brain can comprehend the words one reads. My mind takes it's time to process things, but I certainly read as quickly as I can, because I want to know what happens as soon as possible.

OR I end up so bored that it takes me forever to get through a chapter. But when things are going nice and steady or really exciting, I tend to read word-for-word to get all the details I can. I have a bad memory, so I sort of have to, I think.
I always read word-for-word unless the book gets boring or has inappropriate scenes. Those are the only times I skip words or decide not to finish a book. For my personal preference, skimming isn't reading and I don't enjoy books as well that way. Like you, I want those details that would get lost if I merely skimmed the books.Great chat, y'all! It's so interesting seeing our different reading methods. Such variety!

Sometimes I think it's really a talent you have, or you have not. And I think that people who have the talent will enjoy reading more, so they will read more, so they will read faster, so they will enjoy it even more.
When I read, I don't really read the words, I look at them and they are in my head. My daughter is a non-reader, and if she wantss to know a word, she actively has to read it, which is very time-consuming if you want to read a whole text.
And this non-reading thing of her, I think it's genetic, because I and everyone she grew up with loves to read, but her father, who's not in her life, doesn't read either.

I think some kids, when they're exposed to something on a regular basis, they develop a passion for it. But some people end up with a passion for something that is nothing like what their family for generations have been interested in. I believe when it come to passions, it has to do with culture, how you're raised and just an inner calling, not so much genes. But I could 100% be wrong. LOL Just my beliefs. My parents aren't readers, and neither are my grandparents. Most of my aunts, uncles and cousins aren't readers either. Heck, most of my friends aren't! It's really hard to discuss books when nobody around me reads. Then again... the art of reading is slowly dying out. It's being replaced my games, movies, and other electronic entertainment.
for this task: Read a book with any kind of drink on the cover.
are the bottle on the table and the glass in her hand on the picture on the bottom big enough to count as "drink on the cover"?

I remember reading a lot when I was younger, but for the life of me I can't come up with very many books that I actually read. Especially in high school.
