It was a kind of sweet coming of age story but there was quite alot of bible content which put me off as it was very contradictory with most of the book. I only read it because I nedded an ice cream on the cover, that will teach me not to read the synopsis first! ;)

Andrea wrote: "Carrie, you're doing great! Keep up the good work, and I know you'll make it!"Thanks. Went on a 4 month hiatus too, so that has a lot to do with it. Then I got the orange cover challenge. I was like... really?! I just finished
like a week or two before that. LOL I'm gonna read
to my son.

Carrie, I understand that. I just started recently but haven't been able to fit in my second book yet because of an editing job and finishing up some other challenges. I hope you find a great rhythm again!

It happened to me too when I played. I think a month went by before I read a book that fit. That is a long time for me because I read a book a day!

Exactly! LOL
Exactly! LOL
I wish I could read a book a day. I don't have a job either. Stay-at-home mom, which of course is a tough job anyway. I have an almost 5 year old and one on the way. It takes a lot of my time, but if I'm honest, I still have a lot of time to read. But even if I took advantage of that time, I'm still too slow of a reader to do a book a day unless it's a quick read. Like the Dahl books. I could read 1-2 a day if I wanted, of course. I'm reading them out loud to my son though. Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda was a book that I read in one day, but let me tell ya... it took me all day and half the night of diligent reading with very little breaks to get it done. Same with Twilight.
Happy mothering, Carrie. That is definitely a huge job! May you have a safe delivery when the little one makes its appearance. :)

Aw, sweetie, I hear you. When I need good vibes, I look to Jeremiah 29:11-13. God has great plans in store for you.
Sometimes I think slow readers can enjoy the books more. Like when you eat slow, you can taste the food better. If you read too fast, you can't appreciate the nuances as well, and if you read too much in a too short time, the books tend to blend in together (at least, I feel that way)
Rosa wrote: "Sometimes I think slow readers can enjoy the books more. Like when you eat slow, you can taste the food better. When it comes down to it, reading a book every day, being that fast at reading, probably wouldn't be that enjoyable. But I do wish I could read a bit quicker. Just so that it wouldn't take so long to get through the books I'm excited to read. That's part of the reason I went through a slump. I'm not super slow, but I do feel like it takes forever to get through books. Especially like the two I'm reading now, Renegades & A Court of Mist & Fury. They're so LONG!
When all you young ladies get to be my age (lol), you have time for things you always wanted to do.
I remember when Cat was young, I could read or cross stitch while she played or watched TV. But when Sophia was young, I could not do anything! She wanted to be entertained. She still does and she'll be 19 in July!
I can't remember how much I read when I worked, which was off and on while the kids were growing up.
I do read fast though - and sometimes the books are not that large. It depends.

I think everyone has different abilities, and some folks are able to soak up amazing amounts of detail while still reading fast. I am not one of those people. Lol! But I know a few who are.
I wonder if it's genetic, because my dad was the same way.
I was working in the yard this after noon so I need to get back to my book!! I want to know what's going on.

I think most of it comes with practice and what age you start. If you start at a very young age and make yourself read on a daily basis, you'll get quick by the time you're a teenager. I have a feeling my little cousin will be one of these people. He'll be 10 in August and has been reading small chapter books like Goosebumps and Dahl for the past 2-3 years. His younger brother, almost 8, isn't into reading as much, so he's reading at his age level.
WOW! I never thought of that. I always had a book in my hand. I can remember going to the library during recess instead of playing outside!
