Excellent Biographical Tidbits

Even when you're not reading a biography, you come across the best little glittering pieces of biographical detail if the book is nonfiction. This discussion is a place to share and discuss tidbits like those. I'll start:

In The Mammoth Book of Tasteless and Outrageous Lists I learned that Salvador Dali once sent Harpo Marx a photo of a harp strung with barbed wire. Harpo mailed back a photo of himself with his fingers bandaged.

I love that little nugget -- you can just visualize those two very creative minds playing off one another!

I think that's why I love True Crime. There is lots of biographical information.

Obituaries are great sources for people that like to read biographies and in a small town like mine you can often link people to something or someone you know.

A lot of non-fiction (if not all) has biographical content. The book I just finished has a biography of Poe as it relates to a crime.
