Do that :) Colin always helps. Always.

Andrea | 635 comments Oh for heaven's sake. Now daddy's there to meddle, too... He calls poor Nate "my groom". I really hopes he stands up to that asshole soon...

Lacey | 267 comments Andrea wrote: "Oh for heaven's sake. Now daddy's there to meddle, too... He calls poor Nate "my groom". I really hopes he stands up to that asshole soon..."

What an asshole! I hate how he treats him! he's forever trying to help and all he wants is for his father to trust him and he still doesn't after all he's done.. I really hope he stands up for himself too and that he feels better about himself because that man made him feel like shit!

Thanks! I'm still 2 chapters behind.

Exactly. He needs to get away from all those people who don't appreciate him and start to stand up for himself. Move to his own house. Find something to do for himself...

And that's what he'll probably find in Rosalind... someone who believes in him.

Andrea | 635 comments I really really hope so. And I hope we see it. I mean. He still has to figure out her secret and all. I really hope he gets enough "screen-time" to work through his issues. Rosalind just had this huge section with whatshername (see ^^ already too lazy to type "that Annie person :D), but when he was called "my groom"? Almost no time was spend on that. In the end he and his dad just went on as if nothing had happened. He didn't even think about what happened :(

Lacey | 267 comments Andrea wrote: "I really really hope so. And I hope we see it. I mean. He still has to figure out her secret and all. I really hope he gets enough "screen-time" to work through his issues. Rosalind just had this h..."

I really hope so too :( we're becoming protective of Nathaniel! :D I want to stand up for him myself! ( but I'll probaly hurt his pride 😁)
Hahaha now you're refering to her as "whatshername" by the end of the book, you'll probably just write their initals :D

Andrea | 635 comments Lacey wrote: "I really hope so too :( we're becoming protective of Nathaniel! :D I want to stand up for him myself! ( but I'll probably hurt his pride 😁) ..."

😂 but he's so precious!!! And (like Penelope) he needs someone to support him and appreciate him for who he is so he'll finally recognize his own worth. I hope Rosalind will return the favor and stand up to his family. That would be awesome!

Andrea | 635 comments Ok so I *may* have caved and read on. Sorry about that. But my poor precious baby....

So chapter 20 came and went and (view spoiler) I'm a bit mad for how they're treating my precious. There had better be some groveling from her at the end...

Lacey | 267 comments Andrea wrote: "Ok so I *may* have caved and read on. Sorry about that. But my poor precious baby....

Oh poor Nate... :( Ok I'm going to read now. I will catch up to you today.

Andrea | 635 comments Ok. I'll stay away from it until tonight. I will really try :D

Lacey | 267 comments So, I've just finished chapter 20 and now it's my turn to vent. (view spoiler)
End of venting :D I will be reading more chapters later to see what will happen. And I agree, Rosalind needs to grovel a bit at the end . Even though I think it will be Nate groveling at end... he just THAT kind of guy!

Andrea | 635 comments I know, right? I have no idea why she wouldn't confide in him. He said he'd never push her away, and so far he has done nothing to make her doubt that.
The Annie thing also bothered me. (view spoiler). Brilliant observation that she stole her life at the same time. I didn't think of it that way, but you're right. She could've just let her go, or, I don't know make her (view spoiler)
Ah. The letter. I have no idea other than for the sake of Drama. I mean. (view spoiler)

message 66: by Lacey (last edited May 10, 2017 07:57AM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Lacey | 267 comments The letter's purpose remains a mystery. I don't know why he likes to keep doubting Nate and telling him so. He just likes to be an Asshole.

did you stop at chapter 20? or did you read more?

Andrea | 635 comments I'm somewhere in the middle of 21. I had to stop when he was thinking about how she left. Without looking back... *snifs*

Andrea | 635 comments Ok, still chapter 21; why is our precious (view spoiler)

Andrea | 635 comments Wow. The woman is even worse than daddy... Chapter 22:(view spoiler) Lovely... It's about these two start standing up for themselves, this is getting a bit depressing

Andrea | 635 comments :D:D:D Ok, when you get to chapter 24, let me know. The resolution is... ridiculous. It makes no sense to me

Lacey | 267 comments Andrea wrote: "Ok, still chapter 21; why is our precious [spoilers removed]"

Yes! I read that part 2 times to make sure I haven't misread! but (view spoiler)

Lacey | 267 comments Andrea wrote: "Wow. The woman is even worse than daddy... Chapter 22:[spoilers removed] Lovely... It's about these two start standing up for themselves, this is getting a bit depressing"

Oh man.... you can't imagine how much I hate this Anne women! I wanted to slap her and then slap her some more. Especially in this scene (view spoiler)

So I finished it! and I'm about to write some spoilers because I just can't stop myself. I need to vent! So don't read it until you're done. (view spoiler)
What chapter are you on?

Lacey | 267 comments Andrea wrote: ":D:D:D Ok, when you get to chapter 24, let me know. The resolution is... ridiculous. It makes no sense to me"

The word I've been looking for to describe the resolution: Ridiculous! I've been searching for the right word :D because somehow, it seemed off to me... I was like "so that's it, huh" could have been solved earlier.

Lacey | 267 comments And Anne revealed to have been a (view spoiler) *SHOCK* 😂

Andrea | 635 comments Lacey wrote: "A bit late, but better late than never...

But somehow not really enough....

Andrea | 635 comments Lacey wrote:"Oh man.... you can't imagine how much I hate this Anne women!.."

I can... I can't believe she had the nerve.

Lacey wrote:"I mean it was kind of obvious..."

I know, RIGHT? It was so absurd...

Andrea | 635 comments Nate just (view spoiler)

Lacey | 267 comments Andrea wrote: "Lacey wrote: "A bit late, but better late than never...

yup. A bit lacking...

Yeah. Rosalind at the end was like "OMG it was you??? never suspected anything, how could I have been this stupid?" It was like this big, scary problem she had was completely absurd... That's how the resultion felt. But I'm glad there wasn't more drama, like Nathaniel being mad, I think that would have ruined it for me completely.

I agree. It conveniently tied up all the problems and no one had anything on Rosalind anymore and all. Could've been worse. There could've been last-minute abductions or something....

Lacey | 267 comments Andrea wrote: "Nate just [spoilers removed]"

To me, it was enough that they talked about their problems. I would have wanted the father to apologize more because it wasn't enough for me. but I'm okay with Nate not doing it (the telling his father off) , because it would have been against his personality. He's a carefree, sweet and caring man. It wouldn't have suited him IMO

Andrea | 635 comments ok. Finished. So what did you think overall? I liked it, but... I loved Nate, but other than that... I don't know. I'm thinking 3 stars right now. You?

Lacey | 267 comments Andrea wrote: "Lacey wrote: "Yeah. Rosalind at the end was like "OMG it was you??? never suspected anything, how could I have been this stupid?" It was like this big, scary problem she had was completely absurd....."

Oh my god! that would have been horrible! I like this ending better :D

Andrea | 635 comments Lacey wrote: "because it would have been against his personality. He's a carefree, sweet and caring man. It wouldn't have suited him IMO..."

I don't know. I wish it would've been explored more. I would like to know if moving out helps him become more independent from his family and if they finally appreciate him now that he's gone and they can't rely on him for everything...

Lacey | 267 comments Andrea wrote: "ok. Finished. So what did you think overall? I liked it, but... I loved Nate, but other than that... I don't know. I'm thinking 3 stars right now. You?"

I agree with you. It was an enjoyable read, and I absolutely loved Nate. I liked Rosalind as well, and the story was good... so I'm thinking 3.5 stars that I'll round up to 4 stars :)

Yes, that would have been nice. An epilogue would've been great.

Andrea | 635 comments Yay :) So at least we enjoyed it. That's something. I wonder about the 3rd book though, why the characters are completely unconnected. Or did I just miss them?

Andrea | 635 comments Lacey wrote: "Yes, that would have been nice. An epilogue would've been great..."

Definitely. Maybe they'll show up in the next book a little bit?

Lacey | 267 comments Andrea wrote: "Yay :) So at least we enjoyed it. That's something. I wonder about the 3rd book though, why the characters are completely unconnected. Or did I just miss them?"

I'm glad we enjoyed it! I've had so much fun reading it with you :) No, I don't think you missed them, I would have loved the characters to be connected. I'm really curious about Nate's siblings. I hope she'll write the next books about them.

Lacey | 267 comments Andrea wrote: "Lacey wrote: "Yes, that would have been nice. An epilogue would've been great..."

I hope so! I like to re meet old characters in other books.

Andrea | 635 comments Lacey wrote: "I would have loved the characters to be connected. I'm really curious about Nate's siblings. I hope she'll write the next books about them. ..."

Me too. The widowed siblings, or Bart's sisters maybe...

Andrea | 635 comments This was fun :) If you can think of another book we can read together, just let me know! It's always so much more fun to read something with other people

Lacey | 267 comments Andrea wrote: "This was fun :) If you can think of another book we can read together, just let me know! It's always so much more fun to read something with other people"

Of course :) I'll let you know!

Andrea | 635 comments Yay :) Looking forward to it!

Mariana | 2692 comments I forgot about all the drama in this book. Are you planning a BR for book 2?

Andrea | 635 comments No idea yet 😊 but probably yes. Do you want to join us if we do?

Becca Hey guys! I would definitely like to read the second one with you when it comes out. I am also hoping to read the second one in the treasure duo also (I really liked the first one...it was about a blind man and a courtesan...you think you liked Nate? This hero was fantastic!)

Anyway, glad you guys seemed to enjoy this one, although you still didn't like some of the family drama. I liked this one. There was drama, but it felt real.

Great! I'd love to :)
Wait. There's someone who's even better than Nate? adding it! I do like sweet heros.
I liked this book. I just think that Rosalind could have stood up for herself a bit earlier. She was scared for her sister which is understandable, but still...

Andrea | 635 comments What do you mean, better than our precious?? :D Which book is that?

He isn't "better" per se, but he is really lovely also and he battles blindness to boot! It is Fortune Favors the Wicked. You already have it on your list.
