Not so powerful?

Am I the only person that isn't enjoying this book? I thought a feminist, sci-fi, dystopian, Atwood approved, Baileys shortlist book would be my new favourite but I have to say halfway through, I'm finding the characters 2-dimensional, Alderman's vocabulary lazy and simply lacking power altogether.
Perhaps the 2nd half will do it for me. But I really wanted to like this!

AH I totally agree with you! Exactly what I found! I nearly put it down half way through because it annoyed me so much. When Roxy meets Allie for the first time, suddenly she's so overly British? I also really wanted to like it, I finished it but I didn't see the point in it. The characters had no sympathy for anyone. Couldn't connect at all.
