This month's eight books are:

1. Atonement by Ian McEwan

2. The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath

3. Lord of the Flies by William Golding

4. Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck

5. Possession by A.S. Byatt

6. The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas

7. The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger

8. Watership Down by Richard Adams

I have only read one of the books on this list: The Three Musketeers. I enjoyed it immensely (and I need to go back and reread it) though I do prefer his The Count of Monte Cristo. I've see the play Of Mice and Men and thought it very sad. Though if I was going to pick a Steinbeck book to read, it would be that one. I'm actually a bit interested in The Time Traveler's Wife and Possession, which I've never head of before.

Let us know your thoughts below!

Jodie Reha I've read Atonement, Lord of the Flies and Of Mice and Men. I thought the movie version of Atonement was very good; the book was a bit of a "slogger," it took me awhile to get through it. John Steinbeck is one of my favorite 20th century authors; you must read Grapes of Wrath and East of Eden! I want to read Travel With Charlie; maybe my next book?

Marialyce I have also read Possession, Lord of the Flies,( in high school) Of Mice and Men, and The Time Traveler's Wife (which I hated btw, although I did award it two stars) I also read The Bell Jar. I have to think some time in the past I started to read, but could not get into Atonement. Someday I will have to revisit it again!

One of these day I will read The Three Musketeer and Watership Down. I know it is not on the list but if you want to really read a great book by Steinbeck, who I think to have been the best American writer of his age, read East of Eden. I have to read his Travels With Charley as I have heard it is wonderful.

Ann (ann-fracturedfiction) | 516 comments I've read Atonement, Lord of the Flies, Possession (years ago and don't remember much), and Watership Down (and started The Three Muskateers, but didn't finish- I might try again later).
