it's hard because I hate when movies don't stay true to the books but this is newt like he was my favourite character i cried my eyes out on page 250 and wanted to tear it out and pretend it never existed because I was that mad upset broken I don't really know the word to explain it so my answer would be yes I want him to live because it would tear me apart to have to watch Thomas pull that trigger as newt begged for death

I agree. Heart-breaking.

I want nothing more than for Newt - like all of my fave book characters - to be immortal. But that's not what Dashner wanted, so get over it y'all, he needs to die in the movie.

Please I am begging, Let Newt Live! But, if he was affected as the book said, then maybe there's no way he could live. Well actually I teared myself up when I read about his death, Newt is my favourite character, why Dashner killed him?
Maybe he should die after all, so that the movie still true to the books.

I mean, it's heartwrenching and all...but, really, it's a part of Newt. If he didn't die, I don't think his story would be as complete. If they leave it out in the movie , well... *sHrUg*. Plus, the people who only watch the movies will have NO CLUE what happens if they don't include it.

Now don't get me wrong, I love it when movies stay true to their books, it annoys the hell out of me when they don't. But think of it this way: The first movie stayed true to the book, kind of, a few differences but not much. Now Scorch Trials on the other hand, now that one is like, whats the word, TOTALLY DIFFERENT! In an interview the director and screen writers of the movie said that it was a mix of Scorch Trials and Death Cure, to keep it interesting. So what is going to happen in the Death Cure movie if they already mixed Death Cure into the Scorch Trials movie? The way the last movie ended they were going to rescue Minho, now think back to how the book ended. See my point? They haven't talked about the being immune and stuff, and Winston died, wasn't he immune in the book? I'm a very big theory maker so in short this is what i'm trying to get at: I don't believe and I don't want them to kill Newt. If the 2nd book and movie aren't the same, then why should the 3rd ones be? With the way they ended the Scorch Trials movie it would be a great deal of work to get it to the way the book ended, not to mention that it seems like the whole movie is based on saving Minho.
Also Newt is such a cute little cinnamon roll, why would anyone want him dead.

I am one of those people where the movie has to match the book EXACTLY for me to enjoy it. Otherwise I am just in pain the whole movie. So, needless to say, I hate The Maze Runner Movies. I mean honestly, if I were an author, and a director changed my story to make it "more interesting" I would be pretty offended! I thought the first movie was bad, but the second one was TERRIBLE! I love Newt. He was my favorite character by far. But if he doesn't die, I will be very upset. It just wouldn't be true to the book, which is what the movie is based off of, so why wouldn't they just do it? Having a book to base it off of honestly just makes their job easier, so I don't see why they can't just do it correctly.

The trailer just came out a few moments ago and I am reminded of the possible doom that I have to go through if the movie decides to follow events in the book (which by the looks of it, seems improbable).

I absolutely love Newt's character, but I think his death not only completes his character arc, but also adds to Thomas' and Minho's. It will shatter hearts, sure, but it also shows both Newt's and Thomas' emotional strengths being tested (*cough* that scene where he just goes "Please, Tommy, please." *cough*)

OKAY BYE I AM NOW GONNA CRY IN A CORNER FOR A BIT

I am sorry to say but I think Newt should still die in the movies. I loved hi more than life itself and cried for days when he died but its still frustrating when movies dont stay true to their books, especially a big scene like his death. it changed the whole book and i think no matter what he should turn into a crank and get shot in he head by Thomas.
I will never forget you Newt.

If they made Newt live in the movie, I will hate it, and I am pretty sure the fan rate will decline significantly. Obviously, a big number of The Maze Runner series fans are book readers, and we, as book readers, don't like the movie to drift away from the book and have major differences. For example, in Thirteen Reasons Why, the characters have their names changed in the tv series!! And that's just a small example.

ABSOLUTELY NO. I love the books and agree with most of you that Newt's death was an important part of the book, but I can't live with that. I want to see a movie where Newt doesn't die. I love Thomas Brodie Sangster and I wouldn't be able to resist you know.

Don't get me wrong, I love Newt so much. But I think he should die. I mean without Newt's death, isn't the whole immune and non-immune idea became less interesting. Just see how his death made him a more powerful character, he knows what will happen and ask to be killed.

I want he dies on the movie because I just want that the movie is totally true to the book

OMGs I am currently debating this question! It comes out on the 25th here in Singapore, and I am going to watch it as soon as possible.
I think I do want him to die though. It was a really good part of his character development, and it would be a pity if he doesn't... (Lol I sound so heartless. xD)

I think he should die. Don't get me wrong, I loved Newt but movies that don't stay true to the books are the worst. Newt's death is also part of who he was, it really completed his character.
