hm. maybe your school stockpiles febreze to combat the stench of death. dying grey matter, prollubly.

dukky i ♥ squiggles | 81 comments wow you ppl are speshal. public school rocks. the ppl that go to public school suck. 95% of the classes at public school suck. 95% of the stuff they teach you at public school sucks. you just have to take all of the college and AP courses. then you don't get stuck with the dumb potheads.

yay u recognise how speshal we iz!

message 105: by Silver (new)

Silver you know what's annoying? having to teach latin to yourself at a really fast pace. My "teacher" is not keeping up. and I'm like, "they didn't explain HOW to translate these adjectives!"

message 106: by dukky (new)

dukky i ♥ squiggles | 81 comments ouch. at least you get to learn your language at a fast pace. in my spanish class we spent like a week on the ALPHABET!!!!! what's even worse is that most kids were so stupid they STILL didn't have it memorized. like i said, public schoolers suck.

& so do the teachers. There's proof that the teachers don't know any more than the students do.
My mom read this article by a homeschooling mom who was also a substitute teacher @ a public school and a fellow teacher asked her if the sun went around the earth or the earth around the sun and if we went around the sun in a day.

dukky i ♥ squiggles | 81 comments i believe it. not in my AP courses though. my AP biology teacher knows, like, everything. well a lot more than anyone else. but then there's my egronomy teacher. i could have taught her more than she could have taught me. and the subs at my school are all jokes. they're all really stupid. so the good teachers never miss a day if they can help it.

message 111: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth | 29 comments Happy Halloween!

In Victorian times (esp. late-1800s), autumn was called "The Burnt Orange Season." That phrase has an intriguing 'imagery' to it!

What do you think?

Hmm... that's an interesting way of describing fall.

message 117: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth | 29 comments Thanks Nightshade, I'm glad you like the colorful description for Autumn.

Now...if only the Victorians had at least as colorful/descriptive tag for Spring, I could use in my upcoming Press Releases for announcing my Spring guest appearances!

Oh my Gosh, I so want to have a serious discussion about education...just not today. I haven't the depression. Well...what else is up.

Marleyyy I'm curious as to your views on education.

Marley (Marleyme95) | 848 comments Mod
That is a very broad question Miss Sara, haha. You live in the city, I think you already know we need a huge overhaul of our public schools. Granted I don't think you've ever set foot in one, and even if you did it'd be a northside one and better off then say, one...like...here. Ha. That would be due to the fact that schools are not receiving state aid as they should be in IL and are instead financed mostly by property taxes.

Now if you're talking about curriculum, that's another thing that needs to be dealt with. You see, because schools want to avoid being shut down (especially, as I mentioned on not so well off neibourhoods) and fined and having to be run with someone over their shoulder at all times, they want test scores to go up. And therefore focus solely on what's on the test,a dn don't necessarily create a good foundation for the kids to larn those things, and often dumb down lessons.

And Marley will need more specific questions in order to continue prattling on.

It sounds like Marley has similar views to Sara. :-)
she pretty much stated one of the big reasons Sara is homeschooled.
I just realized I was typing in 3rd person >.<
ANYWAY my parents wanted to make sure that I got a good education and I wasn't just along for the ride. I've never attended a public school. The one I would be going to is apparently one of the top ones in the country but that's really not saying much. I've seen their curriculum.
