E M M A | 1540 comments Chase took deep breaths. Deep breaths. He wished he could ask for advice, help, anything to figure out what in the hell the black-purple shimmer was. What was it! Disease? Was she tainted or something? What had lexi done wrong? What had caused this mishap? Chase was freaking out, paranoid that he had created a monster. This was his doing, he helped lexi form into her angel self. Well obviously, he had done something completely wrong. What was he going to do? Were the dark coloring just a simple deformity? Was it because she had been human, converted to an angel? Did she still have the same powers he and every other pure had? Chases mind spun with questions, his head aching terribly.

All was silent, except the ticking of clocks and the distant hum of traffic outside the apartment suite. Then he heard it, a sob. Lexis sob. Chases ears strained for any signs of lexi, and he could hear it again. His heart broke for her, feeling a little sorry for the fear and confusion he had when he ditched lexi in her room, right when he had sworn he'd always be there for her, he'd be with her on the way to her "angelhood". Shaking his head to clear his mind, chase stood to return to his girlfriend. "Lex...?" Chase whispered gently, knocking on her partly opened door.

There lexi sat, a mess of red hair and those pure white feathers. What bugged him again was the black tips. He couldn't stand them. Chase would never say they were hideous and unsettling to Lexis face, he wouldn't even admit it to himself. "Lexi, babe... what's wrong? I didn't mean to leave you like that, I had to uh... straighten my thoughts out, got a little overwhelmed," chase laughed nervously, tripling over his words like a fool. "Why you on the floor?" Chase cooed, kneeling beside lexi and attempting to slide her in his lap. A hand tentatively reached to stroke a feather, a soft sigh escaping his lips. Tainted or not, they were pleasing to the touch.

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi heard Chase come back and she looked up slowly, her large blue eyes watering. She bit her trembling lip, trying to gather a voice. "Why did you..." she choked down a sob. "Why did you run from me?" Her voice was plaintive and soft, like a child's. "You've never been scared of me before..." she sighed softly and curled up again, hiding her face.

She stayed limp, so that when Chase tried to gether her into his arms, she easily slid into his arms. Soft, silent tears still slid down her cheeks. He said he was just overwhelmed, but it was not stress that she had seen in his features, it was fear. Her wings ruffled a little, their first movement, and subconsciously Lexi drew them in closer to herself. She felt safe beneath her new mass of downy white curtains. They sheltered her, kept her warm and protected. Her shoulders were still shaking a little, as she was trembling from crying.

She loved Chase, and she thought he loved her, so why did he run? What was he afraid of? An icey thought suddenly struck her mind and Lexi tensed. "There's something wrong with me, isnt there?" She asked softly.

E M M A | 1540 comments Chase's stomach twisted as he knelt by lexi on the floor, his arms enveloping her fragile frame beneath the pillowy wings. She was crying. Lexis big beautiful blue eyes were watering, her red tendrils framing her fair white face. "Baby..." chase cooed, his steady Arm draped around Lexis shoulders securely, his other arm resting around her stomach. She managed a few words through choked sobs, her body trembling in his embrace. Guilt washed over chase, his face falling with regret. He knew he should have not reacted with such shock, just darted from the room like lexi had sprouted horns. "I ... I didn't run, I just ... needed air," chase swore, kissing Lexis temple tenderly. "I didn't run from you, don't cry," he pleaded, using a thumb to wipe Lexis cheek. It was a bit of a emotional stage at the moment for chase, his own girlfriend had turned into an angel within a month or two and her wings were tainted. Was it true? Could lexi be... evil?

He sighed softly into Lexis hair, closing his eyes. He could feel her wings rustle against his arm, an uneasy feeling settling around him. Lexi seemed to tensed up all of a sudden, her tone becoming icy. Oh. Oh no, he didn't like that at all. "Something wrong with you?" He scoffed, laughing uneasily. "Oh no, nothings wrong with you babe! You're an angel, you're perfect, you turned out so wonderful...!" He mused enthusiastically, kissing her cheeks. He was sincerely happy for lexi, now that she was finally an angel, but something was wrong.

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi nodded slowly. She was still uneasy, but she beleived him, so she nodded, bringing up one crooked finger to hastily wipe her eyes. She straightened slowly, one wing swinging up as she moved. Her eyes widened and she grabbed it, trying to make it still. Her face bloomed bright red. "These things have minds of their own!" She moved a bit, and as a reaction, her other wing spread out as a reflex. Lexi tried to grab that one as well, ending up spinning around, chasing her wings. She grew redder and redder by the second, trying harder and harder to catch her wings. She was spinning around over and over, quite fast. Her wings bumped into a stack of books, knocking them off the shelf.

Lexi bit her lip, trying to catch the wings which were pumping hard now as a reaction, lifting her off the floor and into a wall. She started smashing into things, her panic growing.

E M M A | 1540 comments Chase sighed with relief, seeing that lexi had bought his modification of the truth, her body relaxing again in his arms. She stood up to stretch, her legs extending in front of him. He scoot back to stand himself, his hand reaching out for Lexis when her right wing spazzed out. Chase froze, alarmed as her wings seemed to jerk about awkwardly, twitching in some places as her wings ruffled. A few gray fluffy feathers floated to the ground, her right wing now extending straight out. Then, the other wing began to drag lexi around the room. What the hell was going on? Chase had no idea what to do in this case, Lexis fragile frame being snatched away from him. "Lexi! Just stay calm! " he shouted over the noise, cringing as a glass decoration was swept off the table and shattered on the floor. Some books tumbled onto the wood floor as well, Lexis body being slammed into the wall. "Lexi!" Chase howled, getting the air knocked from his stomach ad her wing swung around to his chest. He collapsed on the floor, clutching himself trying to breathe desperately. "Lexi stop-!" He wheezed, deciding to lay low.

What was going on? Why was she freaking out, was this normal? The chaos continued for several minutes, chases arms sheilding his head as he cowered in a corner on the floor, avoiding Lexis wing wrath. The redhead came dangerously close to smashing her face into a sharp corner or wall, small cries of pain and panic escaoing her as she struggled to keep herself on the floor to avoid the ceiling fan. Finally, chase couldn't take it. Without a word, chase crept along the floor against the wind, diving for Lexis legs like a pouncing animal on its prey. It took lexi down in an instant onto her bed, his arms wrapped around her thighs as they crashed into the comforter. Chase wrestled lexi into her bed, refusing to let the tainted wings flipping wildly against the covers. "Okay?" Chase panted heavily, finall loosening his hold on Lexis waist, his body laying directly on top of Lexis. He smoothed his blonde hair with his fingers, smiling softly. "Your wings will be...tough," he sighed decidedly, unstraddling her stomach and examining Lexis wings.

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi was still flapping around in a frantic dance, the room spinning uncontrollably when something locked around her legs and she slammed into the bed. She found herself staring up at Chase, her chest rising and falling rapidly. Her eyes were wide and filled with surprise and fear, her nose flared as her lungs tried desperately to take in the extra air she needed. Her wings flapped helplessly for another couple seconds before they lay still. Lexi bit her lip. "What the heck is wrong with me!?" She panted, sitting up slowly.

She rolled her shoulders and straightened, looking to him for answers. "What is going on? Is this why you were scared?" She looked down at her limp wings and noticed something. There was another colour on them. Her wings werent just white. Lexi's face filled with confusion, and then slowly shock and fear. Her eyes raised to meet his and she swallowed slowly. "Why are my wings like that?" She grabbed his hand. "Be honest. Am I..." she bit her lip and took a deep breath. "Am I... evil?"

message 257: by E M M A (new)

E M M A | 1540 comments The two sat panting for a few moments, sweat beading on chases forehead. Wrangling a new angel was difficult, and lexi had more strength than she knew. Chase breathed heavily, sitting beside lexi on the bed, the only sounds being their breathing and the New York City night traffic. Oh, this wasn't going to end well, he could feel it in his gut. He watched lexi warily as she sat up from laying down, his hands resting on his lap. If her wings were going to have another episode, he was ready to take her down again. His expression softened at her exasperated question, a sigh escaping his lips as he scoot close to lexi. "There's nothing wrong with you, lex, did you expect to be able to control these bad boys right away?" Chase joked, grinning. He was proud of lexi for being so far along, as a normal angel transformation took a year or more and new wings would take days to be able to bring strength to. "Ill help you get them to do what you need them to... even flying," he reminded her teasingly, trying desperately to get her mind off of her strange wings.

Chase inhaled sharply then, having not expected Lexis second and third questions. What was he supposed to say? He didn't knowexactly what was supposed to happen in an angel transformation, since lexi had broken all the usual processes anyway. She hardly shed her baby feathers more than a few minutes, and her wings were tinged with black purple. "What? Er... no, its not why I was scared! I just got a little surprised, is all," chase put slowly, watching lexi carefully. "Ah- hey, why don't we-" chase tried to detract her attention from looking at her wings, but it was too late. Lexis face contorted with too many emotions at once, and it put chase on edge. Would she scream? Become angry? Cry again? He knew he couldn't handle crying, crying girls more specifically. Chase squeezed Lexis cold fingers with his warm palm, his heart sinking with Lexis soft spoken concerns.

"That's... what I freaked out about earlier," chase admitted softly, swallowing a lump ik his throat. "Listen, you're not evil. I know you're not, because youre my lexi, and you'd never be evil," he said firmly, as if his words could make it definite. "All angels start out pure, with white wings, and if they begin to turn, if their soul is dark ... white wings fade to gray, then brown, dark brown, black, then a flaming purple," chase explained slowly, biting his cheek. "I have no idea what the tipped wings mean, it could just be because you're special," chase promised, kissing her lips. "You know, maybe its just like those people with one blue one green eye, something to set you apart... remember, you've developed in two or three months, when it should take a year," he reminder her with a proud smile. He squeezed her stomach with his arms, snuggling close.

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi listened to him, and then bit her lip. He was worried about it? He was worried about the colours? Lexi listened to him and gulped. Black and purple were what her wings were, and that meant almost the most evil there was. Lexi gulped. Evil. She was evil. Chase said she wasnt, but she knew her wings spoke otherwise. "Fly? Yes! I want to learn!" She exclaimed, her wings slowly starting to flap again.

He said she was strong. That the darkness was just because of her quick growth. She wanted to believe ot so badly? But it was hard. "I want to control them." She told him, her wings pumping again, but she still hadnt noticed. That thing was stirring in her again. That strange dark magic that had tinged her wings and strengthened her. It would continued to strengthen her for her purpose. One that was set out by her missing parent.

message 259: by E M M A (new)

E M M A | 1540 comments Chase knew he had Lexi when her poor expression transformed into a beaming bright smile, her blue eyes sparkling wih hope. Her wings began to flutter restlessly, sending a slight breeze throughout the room. "Lexi," chase warned, giving her a stern look. He was much too exhausted to strangle lexis wings again, and it was best she start learning to control them from the start. "You hve to focus, if you want to learn. It's gonna be a heck of a lot of training for your wings, but at the rate tore growing... In sure you'll be flying with me by the end of the month," he confirmed, giving her hand a squeeze.

Chase couldn't help a grin at lexis determinated tone, how her lips pursed and her eyebrows scrunched together in that cute little face of hers. He took her other hand, adjusting himself so he was sitting directly across from her, legs crossed Indian style. Their knees pressed against each other, Lexi looking quite dwarfed in her cape of wings before his 6'3 muscular frame. "Oh, well that's a relief to hear," chase rolled his eyes, intertwining their fingers. "Ah-ah-!" Chase raised his eyebrows, looking pointedly at lexis fluttering wings. They were still a little fragile, but for he most part, Lexi was ready for training.

Chases eyes locked with Lexis, before his body glowed with his essence ver so faintly. His white strong wings spread from his back to their full mighrt wingspan, nearly reaching both ends of the bedroom walls. Nearly. They curled around Lexi, enveloping her body and wings with his. The simple touch made lexis feathers flutter, some essence escaping his own pure white feathers. "Whatever it takes, I'll teach you. Shall we go over some basics? Maybe it can wait, you might be a little tired..." Chase mused, picking one of his feathers for inspection. He compared it to one of Lexis, unable to help a smile. They were exactly alike, because of his transferring of his own essence to the extent he had donated, and matched in shape, contour, and color (except for the tips). Lexis feathers were slightly smaller than his, his wingspan having a few feet on lexis.

((If they do go over basics lets skip that, it'd be boring))

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Chase's wings appeared, spreading to their magnificent span, and lexi looked at them with longing. She loved his wings. She loved his wings just like she loved him. They were a symbol of safetey. When they were wrapped around her, she felt like there was nothing that could harm her in the world. She scooted closer to him, straddling his lap so that she could rest her arms around his neck and lean her forehead against his. "Teach me. But in a bit. I havent been able to just sit with you in so long."

She sighed softly, her eyes closing slowly as she let out a breath and all her tension with it. Her wings relaxed and stilled as she let go of all her worries and stress. She visibly relaxed, the worry disappearing from her features. Then she tipped her head a little to look up at him, a small smile on her lips. The question she had been dying to ask for so long just came tumbling out. "Can I touch your wings?"

message 262: by E M M A (new)

E M M A | 1540 comments Chase nodded with agreement, partially relieved that they wouldn't have to start training just then. His wings radiated warmth and an essence glow, keeping the two angels comfortable in the cold apartment. September's freezing rain showers would be rolling in soon, and he needed to keep lexis body in tip top condition. If she wanted to learn to fly and use her powers, it had to be before November. Snow and freak storms were definitely not chases best friend. He loved those months, however, because he often would spend nights at the hospital with the children, to comfort them in the gloom and make sure they were warm enough. Chases arms secured around lexis waist, his head leaned on lexis. "I love you so much... And I look forward to our life together," chase murmured, planting a deep kiss on her red lips.

Lexi had unquestionably relaxed in his lap since the wings incident, her blue eyes fluttering shut with a sigh. Chase took his. Position to an advantage, peering down lexis bck to take a peek at er wings again. Just looking at the black tips, seeming like broken polka dots across her wings, didnt sit well with him. Something was going on, and he had to find out. Lexis voice brought him back to reality, her question bringing a proud smile to his fce. He never was able to show them off before, and now that he could, he would try not to boast too much. "Of course, Lexi...!" He laughed softly, uncurling his right wing from her body and extending it for her to touch. It would be like a bodybuilder flexing his muscles, his eyes watching the observer carefully.

message 263: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi smiled happily, eagerly melting into the kiss and his arms, loving the warmth she found there. She held onto it for as long as possible before finally breaking to breathe. She smiled up at him like a giddy school girl, excited for the first day. She had the rest of her life with Chase now, which would be eternity. She didnt know how to respond to him, and she didnt want to break the perfect moment, so she just stayed quiet.

Her face lit up with delight when he said she could and she watched I awe as he uncurled the massive thing from around her. It looked so beautiful and deadly and safe at the same time. Lexi just paused, staring at it for a long couple seconds just like she always did. Then she hesitantly reached out a hand and stroked one of his feathers. A grin lit up her features and she stroked little more, both her hands wandering to his wings.

Her fingers started to delicately trace over each feather, not missing one. "So soft." She whispered, resisting the urge to just hug the wing to herself like a child might a teddy bear. She was very careful with it, almost as if she was afraid of breaking it, or harming him in anyway.

message 264: by E M M A (new)

E M M A | 1540 comments Chase allowed Lexi to touch his wings, holding his breath as er fingers floated delicately over his feathers. It sort of tickled him, a small smile on his face. Lexi was in total curiousity over his wings, causing him to sit a little straighter and puff out his chest. "You don't have to be so gentle, they're nt sensitive," chase laughed, grinning with a tease. His wing ruffed itself, lowering to the bed to rest as Lexi pet it lovingly. She reminded him of a little girl, the way she treated everything delicately and had that look of pure awe she looked down on the white wings with.

When he was sure lexi had gotten her fill of his wings, he embraced her once more, his eyes closed as he leaned his head on her chest. His wings again wrapped around Lexi, more loosely than they had before. "You hungry or anything? How do you feel...?" Chase murmured against her skin, looking up with one opened eye. Then another thought occurred to him, and chase sat straight up with a. Twinkle of excitement in his blue eyes. "Your powers, lex, you should have them by now!" Chase reminded her. "So, now, every wound or cut or sickness you get is healed in an instant!" He wanted to know if the powers had really set yet, and there was only one way to find out. "Also, you should be able to do something with your essence, something great, it's like... A ball of white light, it's the energy that can blast through things-!" Chase babbled, making absolutely no sense in his mind. He was too thrilled to be examining lexis new abilities to even comprehend.

message 265: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi smiled down at him, hugging him gently against her. She loved spending time with him. She absolutely loved just hanging out with him. She ran her hands through his sandy blonde hair, kissing the top of his head gently. "I want to spend time with you." She said, bending down and kissing his neck gently. A brave and impulsive move on her part.

Then her eyes lit up. "Powers!?" She asked, bouncing a little out of excitement. "How do I find out what they are?" She asked, bubbling over with enthusiasm. She couldnt wait to find out what she could do. And now, she could get hurt and be fine! That meant a life full of possibilities.

message 266: by E M M A (new)

E M M A | 1540 comments Chase leaned his head in lexis hands, sighing softly at the tingles that ran down his neck when she brushed lightly against his neck. His arms tightened around her waist tugging her closer in his lap. Chase naturally lifted his chin when Lexi planted her soft lips against his skin, a soft gasp escaping him. He never exactly expected that from the redhead, but came to appreciate the small gesture. Chase kissed lexis forehead in return, offering a lopsided smile. "Well, now you've got an eternity with me, love," he pouted out, laughing gently as he cradle her close, tucking his wings in and leaning back on a pillow.

Of course, mentioning powers, lexis blue eyes illuminated like any child's would. It was cute, really, and chase couldn't resist teasing her. "Geez, calm down! It's nothing crazy," he rolled his eyes nonchalantly. "First off, Im not exactly sure they're completely... Erm.... Completely there yet?" He tried, wondering how he was supposed to put his words. "Only way to know is find out, come on," chase encouraged softly, gently pushing Lexi from his lap to go out into the living room, where there'd be more space. The wings made the room seem dwarfed, a mass of white feathers. "Invisibility, healing yourself, immortality, flying, light energy," chase listed on his fingers for Lexi to see, opening the bedroom door for the redhead.

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi smiled, warmed to the core. She made a mental note to spend moretime with him later that evening. She wanted to just cuddle with the man she loved. He spoke of her powers and she nodded eenthusiastically, following him out the door. The warmth and light in the living room caused her to smile immediately and close her eyes for a moment to drink it in.

"Invisibility!?" She asked. "Flight!" She grinned, bouncing a little on the balls of her feet. Her wings spread, sending her gliding through the living room. This made her light up even more. "Fly!" She exclaimed. "I flew!!" She clapped her hands in giddy excitement.

Then suddenly, something changed. It was one of those chilling moments, like when clouds roll over the moon during a dark stormy night. Lexi stiffened and stared straight ahead, nose flared and eyes wide with fear. She could hear voices, strange voices in her head. 'Kill the angel.' One rasping, bone grating voice whispered. Lexi was stuc frozen, only shaking her head slightly. Another voice came, 'kill all humans and serve your master in hell.'

Lexi stiffened. She knew those things werent right. She shook her head. 'I wont do it." She said stubbornly. The voice in her head seemed to chuckle a dry rasping chuckle. Then an image entered her mind, one of pain, one of her being tortured. Lexi whimpered. "No no no!" She cried.

E M M A | 1540 comments Chase gave up on trying to make sure Lexi stayed calm, that she kept herself composed and well... Quiet. Watching over her the past few months had been intense, the majority of his time dedicated to the redhead. Ever since day one, it had been constant buddy time between the two. Inseperable. Chase refused to be far from his love, in fear of what she may do if left unattended. The flying, for example. Chase turned to close the bedroom door behind him, and Lexi had already run from the hallway gliding on her new tender wings. Chase was a bit baffled that it didnt take long for Lexi to learn, that she didnt even have to heal. Hell, she hardly looked tired.

A headache was throbbing in his temples, and his stomach growled inwardly. He was incredibly tired even if it was only nine PM, when he'd normally go to bed at eight to get up for work the next morning by five. Chase offered a weak smile, the kind you gave your kid when you weren't feeling up for it, but tey were just so proud. Lexis beaming smile only made chases wider, his body sinking into the comfort of the couch. Lexi was constantly glowing, her essence shining through her skin with a soft golden glow that radiated naturally, softening her features. Chase as happy for Lexi that she could already fly, but deep in his heart he felt a pang of upset. He had wanted to teach her, to have something to be proud of. It was beyond him now, so he figured he'd just let Lexi figure it all out.

He didnt even realize lexis fearful expression as he became absorbed with his phone, his head hung over his chest lazily as the screen shone on his face. The living room was dimly lit from the kitchens automatic lights, and lexis essence. He knew they should be celebrating or something, but chase simply wasnt up to it. A last goodnight text was sent to each of his sisters and his parents, before the phone was tossed to the side. "I won't do it," Lexi whispered fearfully, causing chases head to snap up. Who was she talking to? He hadnt said anything. What was going on? "Lexi?" Chase began cautiously, standing up ever so slowly form the couch. He stood in front of her, blocking whatever she had been gazing off at. "No what? Lexi? What's going on!" Chase demanded, uneasy as he tried to capture her attention,!)8: face directly in hers.

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi heard a voice, a soft friendly one and she started to drift out of the trance. She started to see the living room again just for a moment, but then she felt the gut wrenching pain shoot up and down her spine and her knees gave out. She fell heavily onto them, holding her head in her hands. "Stop!" She begged. "Please stop."

The voice laughed. 'You see what I can do to you?' It asked. 'I will stop. But you must do what I say.' It.hissed.

Lexi bit her lip, tears filling her closed eyes. "What do you want me to do?' She asked softly, her voice cracking with emotion and pain.

'First. Kill the angel.' It hissed.

Lexi shook her head violently. "No! No! Stop.telling me to kill him! I wont do it!" She said, curling up tighter.

The voice paused. 'You will suffer if you dont listen.' It warned.

Lexi tensed and cried out as fire burned her insides. "Stop!" She cried, shaking and sobbing, "stop. Please stop." She curled up in a tight ball, her wings wrapped around herself.

E M M A | 1540 comments Lexis eyes began to return to reality, snapped from a daze that hadnt been any normal daydream. Then she buckled, falling abruptly to the floor before he could catch her, crying out in pain. What the hell was happening? "Lexi! Stand up-!" He ordered, in an attempt to get her attention. She was gone again, listening to some weird voice in her head. Chase really couldn't be dealing with this at the moment, but Lexi seriously needed help before she got hurt. If a voice inside her head was making Lexi act this way, it wasnt any ordinary spirit. "Lexi, Lexi! You need to talk to me, snap out of it! HEY-!" Chase shook her shoulders, unable to get her attention at all.

She asked aloud what he wanted her to do, or so he thought, but the distant glaze over her eyes told him that she was definitely not asking him. Frustrated, afraid, and panicked at what giving her angel abilities had done to his sweet Lexi, chase groaned loudly in frustration, bordering a scream. Chase stood up, moving to the window for some fresh air. He opened the balcony doors, a cold rush of September air sweeping inside. It felt nice, but got chilly a little too quickly. He slammed them shut, his body tensed with irritation. This was beginning to go south. Maybe... Lexi couldn't be an angel, and all this was side effects. Maybe he wasnt strong enough, or too strong for her own body.

Whatever it was left his mind as soon as Lexi began to scream again, denying that she would ever kill "him". Chase knew that that "him" was him. Whoever it was was communicating through Lexi, trying to get him out of the way. It was a demon, one without a body of their own. The spirit was convincing Lexi to do its dirty work! That was the only explanation chase could think of, suddenly terrified. Shaking in his own socks. Lexi may deny it now, but whoever it was would push her. He'd torture her from the inside, probably intensify the pains until she did it, killed him. It would drive anyone nuts.

Chases first instinct was to back away, taking a tentative step backwards in disbelief. But seeing Lexi so hopeless on the floor, her tainted wings wrapped around he body, he couldn't resist. He knelt at lexis side, resting a heavy hand on her shoulder. "Lex...? Come on, baby, Lexi... Please," he whispered gently, trying to lure her out of her state. This wasnt fair. They were supposed to be happy together, without any interfering assholes.

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi covered her ears with her hands, trying to drown out the voice, which, of course, only took out chase's voice and not the one in her head. " go away. Please." She begged the voice. "Who evem are you?" She asked, her voice trembling.

There was a brisk and chilling laugh. 'I wm you. Or at least. I have become a part of you. I was planted you.'

Lexi's eyes grew wide and her heart froze. The voice was... in her? "What do you mean?" She asked, her skin as pale as a bedsheet or a peice of paper.

'I was placed inside you by someone you no longer know. I have been living in you. Now you have the ability to hear and feel me.' It explained.

Lexi bit her lip, her thin hands curling into little fists. "Fine. Well. I dont care if you're living in me. I want you out now." She insisted, glaring at nothing.

The voice chuckled. 'Well im not leaving. Now kill him or ill hurt you again.'

Lexi shook her head stubbornly, and immediately the pain started again, stronger than before, eating away at her from the inside. She screamed and collapsed, shaking. She was worried that it would never end, when she suddenly felt a hand on her. She gasped, being drawn out of her trance for a moment. She stared at Chase in shock and fear. "Helpme!" She begged. "Get it out of me!"

E M M A | 1540 comments "Get what out of you! What do you want me to do, Lexi!" Chase shouted back, extremely frustrated and tired. He needed some coffee. "I don't ven know what's going on, you have to talk to me! I don't know what the hell's going on!" Chase didnt realize he had raised his voice at Lexi until he saw that look in her eyes, immediately his body untensing again. He moved to sit on the floor instead of his knees, sighing heavily. It would never end, would it? Why couldn't they just have the happiness they deserved? He had to deal with a demon too? Couldn't they just call it a day? What would happen to Lexi when the demon began to act? What did it want? Chase now knew why her wings were tainted, but not completely darkened, but it didnt help in solving the problem.

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi bit her lip, staring in startled shock at Chase as he shouted her. Her heart felt like every word he said was a nail pounding into her heart. She had made him mad. She was a... a bother to him. She was annoying and unwanted. Or, that was how she felt. She looked down slowly, the tears in her eyes finally spilling over. "The voice." She said softly, answering his question.

She swallowed slowly. "Its ok. Im sorry." She whispered, her head reeling as she felt the demon try to regain control of her. "I... you should rest... just stay away from me so I dont hurt you." She said, wincing as the pain started to seep back into her bones. Then reality slipped and she could only hear the voice again.

'Kill the angel!' It screamed, putting her in more and more pain.

Lexi felt numbed. She shook her head. "I wont do it." She said over and over. She started to glow as she fought the force in her. She actually managed to push the voice back a bit, but not the pain.

'Im going to keep at this until you give in' the voice whispered.

Lexi froze. Not because of fear of pain, but because she knew she was not strong enough to last forever. She whimpered at the realization that she might actually end up killing Chase. "Please. What can I do to stop you from making me kill him?" She asked.

The voice paused, and then it destinctly said. 'Give me your body.'

Lexi swallowed and nodded slowly. "Give you my body?" She asked, clarifying.

E M M A | 1540 comments Chase immediately felt guilty for saying what he did, snapping at poor Lexi who coudlnt even have a day without pain of some sort. It was really all his fault she was going through this, had he not asked er out for coffee that one day at work. Had he not gotten attatched, maybe he could have spared her. But now? The demon was in her, activated, restless. "Describe the voice," he whispered coaxingly, apology in his tone. He scoot closer to her crumpled body, sliding his arms around her waist. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have yelled at you," chase sighed, kissing lexis cheek in hopes of being forgiven. It was a long day, and not even an angel could keep his cool.

"You're not going to hurt me, now tell me what's going on," chase persuaded, ruffling lexis red locks like he knew she liked. Just when he thought he was getting through to Lexi, she began speaking distantly again. To that damned voice. He grit his teeth in annoyance, wantin to strangle whatever was hurting his girl, whatever was threatening her with that conniving persuasion. He was almost convinced to throw up his hands and give up, hand Lexi a knife so she could stab him. At least she'd be freed, and Chase could find another body to inahbit with his spirit. The only way to really kill an angel was quite intricate, but it involved dark magic and demons.

"Lexi James, dammit! You are not giving your body to ANYone! Listen to me! Snap out of it!" Chase was desperate now, tilting her chin to face him. This was a no. He wouldn't let his girlfriend, eternal companion, be sold to the devil! What good would it do? This thing would surely kill him if he got into lexis body. And the worst part? The demon would convince chase that it was still his Lexi in there, then strike when the moment presented itself. Total backstab. "Don't let it take you, not after all we've been through, I can't lose you-!" Chase gazed into those empty eyes, feeling a little- alot- hopeless.

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments The voice eagerly continued. 'Yes. Yes. Just give me your body and you wont have to hurt him.'

Lexi nodded numbly, about to agree when she felt as if she was shaken awake. She blinked, finding herself looking at Chase again. She blinked a couple times and then smiled weakly, holding her hand over his against her cheek. "Hey babe." She said softly. There was a complete and total peace in her voice. "I can save you. I will save you." She said, determined.

She took his face in her hands and kissed him gently, lingering in it as long as possible, her heart reaching out to him. Finally she broke away from it. The voice was coming back, and she didnt have much time left. "I love you Chase. Always will. Because of that, I have to go." She said softly, her eyes filled with love. Her hand fell away from his face and she blinked as she felt herself slowly start to slip again.

E M M A | 1540 comments "Don't 'hey babe' me! Stop talking to that voice in your head! Just stop!" Chase howled, his voice rising in exasperation. He moved lexis hand from his cheek, only to squeeze it tightly as she kissed him lovingly. He did what he could to not let Lexi pull away from him, until he needed air. Lexi didnt understand what she was doing. What he hated most? She was pretending that she knew what was best for them. "No! You don't love me, Lexi, otherwise you wouldn't be doing this! Are you even listening to me? If you go, this demon, it will kill me!" Chase snapped angrily, standing ability from lexis arms. "You b****," chase whispered, wiping the hot tears that had gathered in his eyes. Why was she doing this? Was there any way now, to redeem what was his in the first place? Did he not love him enough to stand at his side, want to be with him forever and always? Chase began to cry, a grown man at twenty seven, nearly twenty eight. This was all too much.

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi teared up when he said she didnt love him. She was giving up her life for his, why couldnt he see that? She backed up a bit, staring at him as he continued. Her eyes were wide, displaying her shock. Why was he yelling at her for trying to save him? "Im sorry! Im sorry! What do you want me to do? Let myself kill you!?" She screamed frantically. "Im not strong enough!" She cried, wringing her hands. "Im not strong enough to fight him forever! Dont you understand that!? What do you want me to do!?" Lexi's heart was pounding and she had tears steaming down her face constantly now. Then she heard him whisper something under his breath. Even though it was soft, she still knew what he had said, and it struck her to the core. "So that's what you think of me?" She asked softly, biting her lip. She looked down, her hands trembling. She was trying to keep from crying, but she couldnt keep away the tears. She just nodded slowly, opening her mouth to say something, but then just shaking uer head. She got up slowly, and then sprinted to the bathroom, shutting the door and locking it.

E M M A | 1540 comments Chase shook his head firmly, his jaw trembled as he squared himself up defensively. Here was Lexi, yelling at him. He wasnt strong enough? That was complete nonsense. Even if she was a new angel, he knew her soul was strong. She could do this, even without his help! She could fight off this demon, figure out how to get rid of him. She could do this, yet she had no faith in herself. "Yes! Yes you can, Lexi, you can! You're stronger than this demon, you hve what it doesn't! I believe in you, and you just want to give it all up-!" Chase fired back, his tone rising again through his hot tears. "I'd rather you kill me, than he does!" He pointed out, desperate to get Lexi to see the point. To see the light, a way she could get through this. "You have to be strong, remember? Come on, baby please! You can't just give up!" Chase pleaded with Lexi, an emotional wreck.

"No... Lexi, no, that's not-" chase struggled to find the words, regretting the phrase he had used with her. Perhaps he had been a little terse, speaking only out of anger. It never worked when that happened, as even sweet chase could say whatever first came to mind. Now Lexi was crying, the tears welled up in her eyes as her chin quivered. "Can we just please, talk this over...?" Chase whispered softly, letting the hot tears roll from his bright blue eyes down his sculpted cheeks. As for an answer, he had Lexi run past him into the bathroom, her wings slamming into his shoulder as she escaped the living room.

He had done it now, really messed things up for himself. Now what would Lexi do? He figured it couldn't be much worse than giving herself up to a demon, who would use her to do its vil bidding. Who knew what Lexi would be forced to do, how many innocent lives shed be ending, how my chaos shed bring. Chase gathered his thoughts after several moments of silence, his forehead feeling feverish as he slowly turned towards the bathroom Lexi had holed up in. "Lexi?" A soft knock sounded on the bathroom door, his body pressed to the door. She could choose to open it, or he'd break the door right then and there. No more of this escaping, no more hiding and miscommunication like last time.

message 281: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments The second Lexi had locked herself inside the bathroom, she sank to the floor, sobbing softly. Her cape of red hair draped softly around her shoulders as she leaned her head weakly on her knees. As if things could not get any worse, the pain started up again as the voice came back. It was much much worse and Lexi screamed, collapsing into a shaking sobbing mess. She thought brokenly about how Chase hated her and didnt want her anymore. About how she would end up killing the one she loved.

She choked down a sob and shook her head weakly. She could never win, could she? But... Chase said she could win! Chase said she could fight the demon. And since he was a part of her, then she had to fight herself. Lexi got up weakly and walked to the sink, twisting the tap on with a shaking hand. She waited for it to fill. If she died, then the demon should dieas well, right? Well. That was what Lexi thought, as she had forgotten that she could no longer die the same way as a human. She slowly lowered herself and sucked in the water into her lungs as she tried to drown herself.

message 282: by E M M A (new)

E M M A | 1540 comments The tap turned on, the sink running for an awful long time. She want washing her hands, or splashing her face. He didnt like how Lexi was ignoring her, and he made a split second decision. His blue eyes changed, replaced by a piercing golden, his muscles tightening as he braced his hand on the doorknob. It snapped off in his hand, the other sides knob and screws falling to the tile. He pushed open the door, absolutely shocked. Lexis red hair floated about her head, her face stuck in the flooded sink. Not again. "Lexi James," his deep voice rumbled in his voices his eyes still glowing as the real angel side appeared, the wiser, older side.

His hands took her shoulders, pulling her bck from the water in hopes she wasnt dead. His warm essence energy coursed through his veins, filling lexis body. If she had managed to drown herself, her lungs had been emptied of the tap water. He turned her slowly to meet her eye to eye, a serious, serene look taking him over. What so much stress, little sleep, worry, fighting, a girlfriend, and a threatening demon could do to him. With his angel essence taking ahold of Lexis soul and keeping her from making any rash movements, the demon was strangled for the moment, silent.

"Don't do this to yourself, you are strong enough to fight it from within," chases voice was a little eerie in the dark bathroom, his eyes glowing brighter than his body. "Fight it, for the one you love," he instructed, the desperation that had once taken over diminishing. "I can not help you, as the demon is inside you, but I will be here as you struggle, at your side. Only, only if you try," chase murmured. "Don't give up, the demon is desperate, it is at disadvantage, you can win this battle. You have died three times already, you have become a full fledged angel, don't give up. For me, Lexi, if you love me," chase finished, releasing her body and te influence he had on her. It had been a while since he had been in his normal state, and he felt a little woozy.

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi felt herself start to slip as her vision darkened. All she knew was the numbness she felt, and the cold darkness. Then she saw a light. A warm fuzzy light at first she thought she was going to heaven, but then her vision cleared and she found herself choking and spluttering and staring at a glowing chase. She wanted to jerk away out of fear, but found that she couldnt move. Was chase doing this to her? How was he glowing like that?

She bit her lip, listening as he talked to her, her chest rising up and down rapidly. When he finished talking, she nodded feverishly, backing up when he let go of her. She knew who he was, she was just startled to see him like that. "I..." she stammered. "Ill try." She said, swallowing slowly. She couldnt take her eyes off of him. What was going on? She closed her eyes and focused on the demon, trying to force it out. The demon screamed and struggled, fighting back.

Lexi moaned softly, hunching over. She started to glow softly as she struggled, fighting hard to stay in control and get rid of the demon. She grit her teeth and fought hard.

E M M A | 1540 comments Chase was pleased to see that his influence had had an effect on Lexi, a sense of fear in her bright blue eyes. He had never revealed that side of him because well... It was weird. It made him remember how old his soul was, how wise and experienced he had been in his two hundred something years. Lexi, once released after much struggling, had backed up rather quickly against the sink. If she would be afraid of him, yet expel the monster inside her, he would take it any other day. He reached for the bathroom light switch, a bright glow coming from the lightbulbs over head. The bathroom became flooded with brightness, making it a little easier on Lexi to focus.

"Thank you." His intense gaze continued to watch Lexi in a reverent stance, observing her features. Her face crumpled up in focus, her fists grit at her sides. He didn't know how long it'd take, though with Lexi he didn't expect long, to get rid of her inner devil, but he'd stay with her, like he had promised. As tired as he was, Chase needed to support his girlfriend. As much as chase wanted to reach out and help her as she strained herself, he couldn't. This was lexis battle, he had done enough fighting for her. It was her turn, now, the first test of many that would come with her new form. He could sense a hesitation in lexis features as se became a little weak, leaning against the counter, an he interfered. "Come on, Lexi, fight harder," he whispered soothingly.

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi felt as if she had swallowed a wild cat that was tearing at her insides as it diedm. She cried out, gripping the counter with both hands so hard they paled. She ground her teeth against eachother, pinching her lips together. She could still feel the warmth from the new intense chase near her, and it urged her to keep working.

She shouted in frustration whrn she felt herself weaken. "Im trying!" Shr exclaimed, wringing her hands. It hurt her brain to concentrate so hard. She was slowly declining in energy, until suddenly her energy dropped alarmingly. Lexi sank down against the counter, gasping. She scrunched uer face and focused hard, using up the last bit of energy in her. Her eyes rolled back into her head as she passed out and collapsed. And then her wings slowly changed, the black dripping off of them like ink so that they were left snowy white.

message 286: by E M M A (new)

E M M A | 1540 comments Chase swallowed a lump in his throat, turning his head as Lexi gasped, her fingers curling around the sink counter until her knuckles turned white. Her face was in even more pain than when her wings had been growing in, and chase had no way to compare the way she felt with anything he had ever experienced. But he believed in Lexi James, and he needed her more than ever to believe that. Lexi meant the world to him, had brought him out of the pit Amanda had dug for him a year ago. "Well try harder!" Chase isnisted firmly, feeling awful for his stern tone. But it was the only way, being gentle would give Lexi a sense of relief. He couldn't be her buddy at the moment, he had to ensure her mind was disciplining itself.

Lexi abruptly collapsed in a heap on the floor, breathing heavily. He saw the eyes roll, his heart on an edge as he watched Lexi fiercely. He knelt beside her on the bathroom floor on one knee, his golden eyes trying to make sense of her fainting. Had she won? Or would Lexi wake up and not be Lexi anymore? "Baby?" Chase whispered, hiding the panic in his voice. Something shifted in his peripheral vision, and he saw that it was the inky black tipped wings. Slowly, lexis body began to glow, and her feather began to match the snow white color of his own. Lexi had won! Relief washed over him as he scooped his darling in lot his arms bridal style, kissing her lips tenderly. He reverted to his original self again, stepping over the broken door knob. He'd fix it later. Chase carried Lexi back to her dark room, his head pounding as his eyes changed back to their normal blue, his body's energy decreasing dramatically. "Hey, wake up," he whispered against her ear, rustling her body ever so slightly before laying her in bed.

message 287: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi stayed unconscious on the bed for a good three minutes before she let out a small wheezing moan and her eyelids fluttered. She grimaced and blinked awake, staring at the world around her. Almost immediately she jerked upright, gasping, her eyes wide. She remembered drowning and glowing Chase and a whole lot of yelling. So what was going on now? Her pupils grew in the somewhat shadowed room and her eyes locked on a certain form. Chase.

Lexi swallowed slowly, just staring at him. She wanted to ask what happened, what was wrong, if everything was ok. She also wanted to ask what was up with his eyes earlier, but she was too nervous. She just stared, trembling a little. And that voice. Was that gone as well? Where had it gone? Lexi's mind was pounding because she had just fainted, but also now because of all the questions she was being hit with.

message 288: by E M M A (new)

E M M A | 1540 comments Chase heard Lexi awaken, her hair rustling over her pillows. He had turned out the lights to let her rest, sitting instead in the rather comfy arm chair beside her bed. It was a little eerie, with his dark silhouette by the corner seat, the pale moonlight from her window peeking through in a slanted line that crossed his chest and leg. "Lexi?" Chase whispered, snapping out of his sleepy phase. She wasnt moving, only sitting straight up and staring in his general direction. "I'll get the lights," he yawned quietly, his voice back to its normal, laid back Chase. A moment later, brightness flooded the room from the ceiling fan, which began to gently spin as well.

"How're you feeling? You did it...!" Chase murmured, smiling his boyish half grin. He sunk into the mattress at lexis side, sitting against her leg on the covers and resting a hand on the other side of her legs. He leaned in for a kiss, pecking her lips tenderly. Her white wings were spread out flat beside her, pure white. Just how he liked them. Now they could match, take the skies together as real angels. Chase could only hole that nothing else would arise, that they could be left alone for the next eternity.

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi smiled weakly. "I did?" She asked, not entirely beleiving it. She didnt think she was strong enough to do something like that. Especially cast out a demon. She bit her bottom lip then, "was that... was that you? The glowing? What happened?" She asked, waiting for an answer.

Once she got one, she couldnt wait any longer. She had not been relaxed in his arms for so long. She threw herself at him, hugging him hard. She just stayed like that for a long while, breathing his scent in which helped to calm her fluttering heart. Then she pulled away and looked into his blue eyes for a second, a small smile curling at her lips. "Ive been waiting to do this since we met." She whispered, and then she drew herself closer and kissed him again, but this time with a passion she had never before shown.

E M M A | 1540 comments Chase grinned with relief, finally he had his Lexi James back. No more of whoever she had been with that ugly demon inside of her, controlling and persuading her every last action. "Better believe it, baby doll! Look!" He boasted, lifting her right wing to show off every pure white feather, the dark tips having vanished completely. "Glowing? Oh uhh- yeah," chase blushed, grimacing. "That's... That's the angel chase, the real me, don't worry you won't ever have to see it again," chase shuddered, shaking his head. It was always a bit of a shaking experience reverting to his old self now and then.

Chase grunted softy as Lexi three herself at his chest, her arms squeezing his torso stronger than he could have imagined. "Hey," chase whispered gently, rubbing her back lovingly as he returned a more gentler embrace. His eyes met hers, their foreheads tilted against each other, one of his hands cupping lexis fragile jaw. What Lexi said next sent a little chill up his spine, the good kind, and he was dragged into a rather fierce and passionate kiss. Chase hadnt kissed like this in forever, the last time being with Amanda probably a year or something ago. "I love you, I'm proud of you," chase whispered when he came up for air, a soft glow illuminating the two.

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi beamed a little, when he said he was proud. "Thank you." She said softly, panting as she was out of breath. Then she grinned, looking back at her pure white wings and then back at him. "Its ok you know. You can show that side of yourself. I dont mind it. Its just kind of... well... scary." She admitted, shrugging a little. "But I still love you." She assured. She let her arms fall so that they were wrapped loosely around his waist.

She kissed his nose gently. "We're ok now, right?" She asked hopefully. "We can just be together now. Right?" She asked. After being distant from him for so long she was craving him. Craving feeling loved by him, craving how his embrace could make her blush, craving how their kisses set her heart fluttering out of control. All of this was portrayed Iin her eyes as she looked at him longingly. She just wanted to be with him. Permanently.

E M M A | 1540 comments Chase ruffled lexis fiery red locks that seemed to have regained their natural bounce and shine, a contrast from the dull limp strands while she was recovering. He sighed with a bit of shame, wishing he didnt have to be so intimidating. Angels were always portrayed as gentle, wispy little things. In reality, they were warriors of light, defending the world from its evils. "Exactly... I knew I had to use it on you if you were ever going to listen," chase admitted with an wxhausted sigh. "I love you lots, even though the past few days have been... Trying," chase put lightly. He had had nearly no sleep at all, and sometimes Lexi had been a pain struggling with her inner soul or something.

"We're okay? I suppose so, unless anything has been bothering you or upsetting you?" Chase kissed er cheek, unable to get enough of her soft skin on his lips. "Yours... Forever," chase vowed, linking his pinky with hers. He might as well put a ring on it, but e wanted to make sure Lexi was okay with him for a while. He wouldn't e able to handle it if she changed her mind. Chases blue eyes fought sleepiness as they threatened to droop, willing himsel to focus on Lexis bright blues that were so identical to his own. He curled Lexi up by his side, sighing as e dropped into her pillows to face the ceiling. Maybe he'd sleep in the same bed as her tonight. He was much too lazy to go get ready for bed, brush his teeth, or even go get the medicine they had prescribed Lexi at the hospital. It was nearly ten PM, they could call t a night.

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi bit her lip, hearing the obvious tiredness in his voice. She had annoyed him quite a bit in the past few days and she knew it. "Sorry." She whispered, looking down. "Sorry for being a horrible girlfriend this past month." She added, so he would know exactly what she meant.

Lexi beamed, grinning when he linked their pinkys. "And I am yours. Forever and always." She promised, blushing softly, her blue grey eyes filled with joy. She let him position her, curling up against him like a small child. She snuggled her face against his chest, sighing softly. Her red hair draped around her shoulders and she let her eyes fall shut. "Love you." She whispered, letting out a small yawn, her wings stretching and then folding as she got settled. She was asleep a second later.
