E M M A | 1540 comments Chase kissed Lexi delicately, his head bent considerably to adjust to her height. His arms slid around her waist, the night silent beside the distsnt honking of cars and the cool fall air around them. Chase leaned her against the wall behind her, his hands absently rubbing on her sides softly. It had been so long since he had shared a kiss with someone who meant so much to him. Even though he and Lexi had met literally that morning, the connection was there, it was even stronger than him and Amanda, and suddenly she didnt seem to matter anymore. He had moved on.

Chases body naturally glowed, his eyes shut as they kissed. Lexis arms draped around his neck, before he felt her lips and tongue begin to dance on his, a soft sigh escaping Chase. He could stay here all night with Lexi, whatever she wanted. As long as he could be with her. Imagining the possibility of nt having Lexi, imagining that he had lost the entire argument to Lexi walking away from him, that sent shivers down his spine. He didnt want to think about it whatsoever. It was too upsetting, and he figured he'd just enjoy the moment.

Chases tears had dried, his blue eyes still slightly puffy from crying, and lexis shoulder damp with his tears. He withdrew himself from Lexis luscious lips, breathing softly against her cheek. "I love you, Lexi, I do," he whispered, hugging her a bit tightly. "We should get you warm," chase swallowed, his face a bit pink. He just hoped she didn't think he was a bad kisser, or her freaked out about his sudden move.

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi didnt even know what it was she was feeling. It was a warm fuzzy feeling that made her feel like she could conquer the world. However the world had seemed to have dropped away at the moment. There was nothing that mattered anymore but Chase. Her heart belonged to him. She could feel a connection between them, and it was strong. Her heart seemed to beat in time with his as he leaned her against the wall. She felt his hands like fire on her waist, and she deeoed the kiss a little, feeling their tongues dance together.

Lexi was so absorbed in the kiss that she was slightly disappointed when he broke it. She looked up at his slightly flushed face and smiled. Her heart warmed when she heard those words. She felt like she could just take off and fly. Then he talked about her getting warm and Lexi nodded reluctantly, almost wanting to just stay here and kiss him again. "I dont have anywhere to go." She admitted softly, looking down.

"The... my house.... its at the agency." She explained. Suddenly she remembered the whole thing about dying and she started to tremble again, hugging Chase for comfort and a sense of protection. She was afraid. She was afraid mostly of it not working, and losing him. She was petrified of being alone. She hid her face against him.

E M M A | 1540 comments (((Typed a wonderful post, then it crashed -__-))

Chase leaned beside Lexi on the wall, their faces still only inches apart at his reluctance to move any further. He could feel lexis soft breath puff on his neck, her shorter height even with the heels causing him the need to cram his neck. It was worth it, for Lexi. She had changed him, gave him hope that maybe he didnt have to be so miserable, that maybe... He'd actually live his life a little. That he wasnt alone, that he didnt have to hide his secrets from her.

"Come home with me," chase offered after a moment, a bit nervous. What rumors would pass around if the nurses knew. He deemed nurses the most gossipy set of women in the world. "I can keep you safe, I promise," chase vowed, squeezing her hands at their sides. "I'll make you that cup of coffee we never had, eh?" Chase joked lightly, hoping Lexi didnt take anything by it. "As long as you're with me, you'll never have to go to that- that god awful place again," chase sai firmly, his deep voice persistent.

His body naturally began to glow as his wings unfurled, the two of hem becoming invisible once again to the world. He wasnt sure if all this sudden power he's been transferrin to lexis body was actually taking any permanent affect. The alleyway was cold and dark, and in the distance he could see a shadow of a man walking ever so slowly. Just the thought gave him the creeps.

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi nodded. "Ok." She agreed, smiling a little. "That sounds lovely." She said, honestly hugging him as he unfurled his wings and took to the sky. She felt safe when she was with him - protected. And she felt appreciated, really appreciated for who she was. When she worked, she was appreciated for what she did, not herself as a person. But now that had all changed. She had someone she could be herself with. She could be afraid and it wouldn't be looked down upon. She could be quirky and bubbly and anything she wanted. It was freeing, to say the least. She felt as if her heart was soaring, and would never fall and break again.

Lexi avoided looking out on the streets as they flew. She still was afraid of heights. Instead, she looked upwards at the beautiful stars creating a glitter splattered sheet above them. Most nights the city lights blocked out all the stars, but tonight, they were in an area where most of the lights were off, and the stars looked ten times more beautiful. Lexi sighed happily and leaned her head on Chase's chest, enjoying the ride. The sound of his heartbeat calmed her, and took her mind off of the coming days.

((That's awful!))

E M M A | 1540 comments Chase took to the skies, his powerful wings gaining them altitude before they were soaring over the busy city. He had Lexi curled up to his chest, his arms wrapped secretly around her petite body. Lexi had given him so much that day, he only felt that its be right to help her out back. She was in a sticky situation, where either option she chose meant death. Chase was just glad she would choose him. The wind whistled in his ears, his blonde hair being ruffled in the pale moonlight as they crossed over te buildings, over the hospital, past a park.

The flight was silet, but thoughtful. Neither wated to interrupt the peace that they had so high above the city. At last, his apartments came into view. The building was around four stories high, with newer accommodations in the recently built building. Chase had taken up a penthouse suite, a beautiful and luxurious apartment building with spacious modernized rooms and sleek appliances outfitted throughout. "Here we are," chase murmured softly, landing on a wide fourth story balcony, two patio chairs and small table arranged neatly on the platform. His wins tucked themselves in, and lexis feet touched the floor again.

"Make yourself at home, use whatever you need," chase offered, stifling a yawn as he jiggled the balcony's lock with his keys and stepped inside. It was dark, with the exception of automated lights in the kitchen and living room. It was also exceptionally warm inside, the tip of his nose beginning to thaw out. "We should get you warmed up, don't need a cold," chase murmured, knowing very well that he could fix a cold in a matter of touching her skin anyway.

message 106: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi brushed herself off and looked at the patio. Even this one porch was nice. Really nice. "A-are you l-like a m-millionaire or something?" She stammered, as her teeth were chattering in the cold. She rubbed her arms furiously to try and warm them as he unlocked the door, and then she scooted hastily inside, sighing in relief when a wave of heat hit her. At the sight of the interior of his apartment, even in the dark, her eyes widened. "Where do you get the money for all of this?" She asked incredulously. "Seriously, this is unreal." She said, walking over to the nearest heating vent in the floor and she sat down on her hands on top of it, trying to warm them.

"Thank you. For bringing me here." She said politely. She still couldn't quite take in how nice this place was. It made her feel like she had lived in a garbage dump her whole life. Which was fine really, seeing as she wasn't there anymore. No, she was somewhere much nicer, with much nicer people.

Suddenly a vibrant rope of pain shot through her brain and Lexi screamed, collapsing to the floor. She was frozen in shock and fear. Then a voice entered her head. We've moved back the time. You have 24 hours left to live. The intruder left just as abruptly as they came and Lexi slumped, unconscious from the pain.

message 107: by E M M A (new)

E M M A | 1540 comments "A millionaire?" Chase laughed Lexi off, not admitting to anything. Angels tended to be substantially well off, benefited by some 'unknown source', the archangel looked out for the others. It was nothing Chase really had thought about before. "I don't know," chase simply shrugged, too humble to say anything about his financial situation. Alot of times, he snuck a few extra dollars in a tip at a restaurant, or in someone's paycheck at work. "Hungry?" Chase offered brightly, already brewing coffee in the coffee maker.

He saw that Lexi was situated over the heating vent, grinning. "I'll be right back," he promised, disappearing in his room and grabbing a sweatshirt of his, along with a pair of sweatpants that would probably be a few sizes too big, and some mismatched socks. That should keep her- his thoughts were interrupted by a shrill scream in the living room, his blood turning to ice. He dropped the clothing on his floor, reaching for the bat he kept hidden behind his bedroom door. With it gripped in his hands, he cautiously crept out of his room. Nobody. Lexi lay on the floor, writhing for a few moments before she slumped into a motionless state.

No.

"Lexi!" Chase screamed, his heart dropping into his stomach as he is he'd to her side. It wasnt supposed to happen so soon! She couldn't die now, he didnt have enough left in him! "Lexi, baby, please! What happened? Who did this?" Chase babbled frantically, his fingers shaking as he felt for a pulse. There was one, it was normal. He didnt understand. She had just passed out? Fainted? Was there a spider or something? Chase was deeply confused, his worry ceasing. "Lex..." Chase sighed, lifting her onto the leather couch. He tucked a pillow under her head, with a thick fuzzy blanket draped over her body.

With that, chase went about making the coffee and setting aside done for Lexi when she awoke, cleaning up what he could in his neat apartment. He didnt want Lexi thinking he was a slob, and he now needed to be mindful of his belongings. He couldn't just leave dirty underwear or socks on the bathroom floor.

message 108: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi came to about fifteen minutes later, and she immediately groaned, her hand reaching up to gingerly rub her temple. "Twenty four hours." She mumbled, look up at Chase who seemed to be cleaning the apartment. "I've got twenty four hours left to live." She said softly. She was trembling now, partially from the pain, partially from fear. She tried to get over it however, ignore the icy hand that gripped her heart.

She managed a small smile. "The coffee smells good." She said sincerely. Coffee reminded her of home. It made her feel warm and cozy. Kind of like hot chocolate in the winter time. She pulled the blanket closer to herself, cuddling with it. "Hey. Could I have some clothes?" She asked shyly. "These pants are really not comfy at all..." She said softly, blushing a little. She felt badly taking over his house, and asking for his food and clothes.

"I'm so sorry." She said. "I'm really sorry. I'm like taking over your life here. Just tell me no or stop when I cross a line ok? I don't want to intrude or anything." She said, fiddling with her hands.

message 109: by E M M A (new)

E M M A | 1540 comments Chase dropped the bundle of electronics chargers, letting them fall to his desk with a clatter. "Lexi!" He shouted across the living room, stumbling over to her side of the couch. Twenty four hours? "What? Twenty four, so another day?" Chase blurted, kneeling by her side. Could he recover properly in twenty four? It normally took three days, two was stretching it. Now that it was one, there might e some problems. Of course, he'd give it all to save Lexi once she passed away, even if it killed him completely. It would have been worth it, Lexi would be free.

Chase nuzzled lexis temple, planting soft kisses to distract himself on her forehead. "I was so worried about you, screaming like that then passing out on the floor," chase frowned, his blue eyes clouded wih concern. He smiled at her comment about the coffee, relieved she took a liking to his 'cooking'. Sometimes chase could even screw up a cup coffee. How, he didnt know. "Lets get you your mug," chase offered his hand, draping his arm around her waist- just in case. He made sure the blanket was secure on her shoulders, dragging behind her on the floor.

"Oh! Yeah, of course!" Chase agreed, seating her on a barstool at the granite counter. "I'll be right back," he promised, the ceramic clinking on the granite. He had been halfway across the living room, when he heard lexis voice call out o him. "Lexi-!" Chase laughed heartily, shaking his head at her apology. Didnt she understand? He wanted her here, he wanted her to want him. "It's fine, really... Anything you need, Lexi, anything- ask me," Chase instructed, his voice gentle. With that he winked, turning on his heel and jogging back to his bedroom to grab the clothes he had set out previously.

With the old shirt, sweatshirt, sweatpants, and socks draped over his arm, chase returned to Lexi. "These uh... Might be a little big," he murmured sheepishly, not able to remember if he ever really shared clothes with Amanda at all except for the occasional sweatshirt at night. "Hungry?" Chase offered, unable to relax without knowing that the redhead was content, happy, and warm.

message 110: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi nodded sadly. "Yes. Another day." She knew that could cause problems. Lots of problems. She was worried about him now. What if it would kill him to save her? If that was the case, she would rather that she just died, then to have him die instead of her. She knew she would never be able to live with herself knowing that she was the cause of his death. The only person she had ever loved. Even just thinking about it made her sick to her stomach.

She saw the worry in his eyes and she bit her lip. "I'm sorry. They spoke in my head. It hurts when they do that." She admitted, shivering a little. Oh she hated it when they did that alright. And they rarely used that function. But apparently this situation was important to them. Lexi stood with him and shuffled to the kitchen, sitting down where he showed her, still all swathed in the blanket. She took the cup he had placed in front of her, and just held it between her palms for a while, warming them.

She smiled and nodded. This man was an absolute angel. No pun intended. He really did care about her, her needs. She was taking over his house, and still he offered her anything. When he winked, she blushed softly, and grinned down at her coffee. When she looked up, he was back with clothes. She could tell already that they were going to be big, but that didn't always mean uncomfortable. Baggy sweatshirts and jogging pants were usually really comfy. "Thanks." She said, taking the clothes from him and wandering down the hallway to find a bathroom.

She ditched the jeans she had been wearing, exchanging them for the sweatpants. She had to pull the drawstring a lot to keep them up, but they were much nicer than the jeans. She kept his shirt on however, and just slipped the sweatshirt over top, before slipping on the socks. She felt so comfy and cozy she wanted to just cuddle up and go to sleep. She grinned at her reflection for a second before walking back into the kitchen. She looked like she was swimming in clothes, it was comical really.

She laughed softly at his inquiry about food. "Man! You're going to work yourself to the bone! And we need you to regain energy!" She said, hands on her hips in a scolding manner. She walked over to the cupboard and looked around until she found another large mug, in which she poured him some coffee. She pushed the cup into his hands, before grabbing her own cup from the counter again. Then she grabbed his wrist and steered him to the couch, pushing him down onto it. Then she climbed up beside him and got comfortable snuggled up against him, her coffee in her hands. She closed her eyes and sighed happily. "There we go. Much better."

E M M A | 1540 comments ((The feels <3))

Chase awaited lexis return by scavenging the pantry and refrigerator for something half as decent to eat, a bit embarassed having not kept up with the shopping routine. Chase didnt eat normally, choosing to eat at irregular times and normally at another place. Eating at home had always just reminded him even more how alone he was. His eyes trailed around the kitchen, falling in to deep thought. How long would this last, he and Lexi? After a seven year relationship tipped with an engagement, chase wasnt sure. Would Lexi be the one?

She remerged minutes later, her socked feet padding down the hallway. Chase turned to greet her, guffawing at her ridiculous appearance. She was drowning in those clothes! "A little big, eh?" Chase teased, looking her over. It was quite a drastic comparison, seeing as those sweatpants had been a little tight and short, and the sweatshirt was a little undersized for him. "Is it comfy enough for you? I've got other clothes..." Chase trailed off, his cheeks tinged pink. He needed to calm down, leave Lexi be.

Chase rolled his eyes, taking up his spot at the fridge again to look through it. Perhaps she liked yogurt. "I'm fine, I regain energy naturally, a little cooking wouldn't hurt," he protested, his head buried in the empty stainless steel box. He don't notice Lexi grabbing another mug until she tugged him from the refrigerator, pushing the now warm mug into his hands. "L-" he was cut off, immediately dragged off to the living room where he was sat down. "I'm fine, honest," chase laughed softly, tucking an arm around lexis shoulders. Her body was soft beside his, the comfortable fabric providing cushiony surface for him to lean his head on.

Chase could hardly bring hinself to drink his coffee, huddling beside Lexi James. Their bodies meshed together despite their size difference, with lexis head resting on his broad shoulder. Chase was still dressed in his old scrubs, but decided against changing unil later. Right now, all he was worried about was the little redhead. Eventually he had begun to take small sips of his coffee, the warm liquid draining in the back of his theoat. The hum of the refrigerator and brewing of the coffee in the kitchen were the only sounds, accompanied by the monotonous tucking of the clock over the tv.

Lexi grinned. "Yeah. The clothes are big. But they're comfy and they smell like you. Both good things. I feel safe." She said softly, being open with him. She nuzzled her head against him, letting her eyes fall closed. She only opened them occasionally to take a small sip of her coffee. Honestly, she was too tired, happy, and comfortable to think about much. Most of the time she would over think things, imagining out every possible scenario. But right now, it just seemed to perfect to think about the future. Instead, she just let herself relax and enjoy the moment.

They sat in a perfectly wonderful silence, just enjoying a warm, quiet, safe time together. Lexi listened to the reassuring beat of his heart as she drank from her coffee. When the mug was drained, she had this wonderfully warm feeling in her stomach, completing the absolutely perfect moment. She let her eyes close and sighed happily. She didn't even remember falling asleep, but soon she was out, resting silently in his arms.

She looked smaller than she really was at the moment, curled up on his lap. One petite hand had curled around a bit of his shirt as she slept, making her appear simply like a child cuddling with a blanket. To be honest, this was the best time she had had in a long time, and the most relaxing sleep ever. Most of the time she was tense and watching out for her back, but here, she had someone who could help her with that.

message 113: by E M M A (new)

E M M A | 1540 comments Chase relaxed into the comfort of the worn leather couch, his head tilted back to see the ceiling above, his eyes lost in the whirring blades of the ceiling fan. Lexi lay curled up in his lap, his hand resting comfortably on her waist and stomach, his other on her back keeping Lexi's body close to him. His coffee was sipped occasionally, the warm comfort it offered him making Chase drowsy. His and Lexi's breathing were in rhythm, their chests rising and falling in synchronization. It seemed like the perfect way to end a bittersweet day.

Chase's eyes fluttered open again at eleven PM, confusion fogging his memory until he rubbed his eyes. Lexi breathed softly on his chest, her slender fingers curled around the fabric of his work scrubs. His coffee had gone cold, the apartment dark after the automatic lights had shut off nearly an hour ago. Lexi looked so at peace, a change from the agitated stress vibe she possessed earlier in the night, before they had come home. Chase smiled softly, stretching a crick in his neck, before lying slowly on his side careful not to wake Lexi.

Her red hair was splayed on the large intracately designed pillow they shared, his back to the back of the couch and his arm draped securely around lexis waist and back. The couch was deep enough for both of them to fit comfortably, with her face nestled in his chest and their legs touching at several points. With one arm, he groggoly draped the thick blanket over them, falling asleep almost immediately.

At precisely six AM the next morning, Chase's automatic alarm clock set on his phone shrieked shrilly from the coffee table in front of the couch. Having only had seven hours of sleep, he would have normally been well rested. Today, however, he felt like absolute shit. Chases blue eyes opened, slightly bloodshot, seeing a sea of red hair below him. Lexi. He had slept with Lexi. Not sleep sleep, but sleep. Lay down. Chase blushed at the thought, smacking his lips as he stretched one arm. "Lexi..." Chase mumbled, sighing as e closed his eyes. He didnt feel the urgency to turn off the alarm, although its high pitched tones were beginning to aggravate him.

message 114: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi woke up slowly, first to a very welcome noise of a soft deep voice uttering her name. She smiled, her eyes closed, but as her senses grew more alert, the alarm became annoying, persistent, and really annoying. She groaned and covered her ears, her face scrunching up in agitation. "Oh... I really do not like that thing right now." She groaned, pulling the blanket over her head. She waited until the noise stopped, before poking her head out again, and smiling at Chase. "Hey. Morning, handsome." She said, blushing softly. "You know, you are an awesome sleeper." She said, grinning. She shifted to prop her head up on her elbow. "I hope it was ok sleeping with me? I don't kick or anything?"

((sorry its so short!))

message 115: by E M M A (new)

E M M A | 1540 comments Chase had reached over lexi to grope for his phone somewhere, placing a little weight on his red headed friend. He finally got ahold of his screeching phone, shutting it off before tossing it back on the table in its lifepriif case with a clatter. "Sorry," chase laughed softly, his voice deep and groggy from having just woken up. His blonde hair was a scruffy mess, the clean put-together appearance from the day before replaced with a sloppy one. He had an arm tucked under his head on the pillow, a hand rubbing lexis side gently. "Morning, goregous," chase greeted softly, pecking her lips.

Chase blushed at her compliment, his blue eyes sparkling in the morning light peeking through the sky scrapers outside the balcony window's thin curtains. It was a crisp morning, and the two snuggled under the blankets with their noses together. "I don't wanna get up," chase complained, his foot playing with lexis subconsciously. "You were the perfect sleeper, I didnt notice anything," chase laughed lightly, squeezing his arms around her waist. She was so perfect. Everything was peachy that morning, so perfect he had almost forgotten about the deadline. Almost.

message 116: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi smiled, resting beside him again. He was absolutely adorable when his hair was a mess like this. She caught herself staring at him and blushed profusely. "I don't want to get up either. It's warm here. Cozy." She said, smiling softly. She tucked her head against him and looked up, her eyes large and questioning, a small grin on her face.

"Thank you." She said, responding to his compliment. She felt safe in his arms. Safe and warm and protected, she scooted up a little on the couch so she could reach his face to kiss his lips gently. Sparks ignited immediately and she felt as giddy as a child again. "So is this what it feels like?" she asked hesitantly. "Love? Is that what the sparks are?" She wasn't sure if he would know, but she assumed an angel would have more knowledge in that matter than she did.

message 117: by E M M A (new)

E M M A | 1540 comments "I'll call in sick," Chase suggested aloud, his fingers twirling strands of hairs at lexis back. Of course he had never gotten sick before, so his sick days were at a max. Him and Lexi both missing from work after seen holding hands may have had some kind of rumor floating a round, but they couldn't prove anything. Besides, Lexi... She was going to die today. He figured he needed to keep off as much strain and upset away as he could. The two were deeply in love, their foreheads tilted together, his lips only inches from hers. And it all took only one day.

Chase adjusted to lexis movement, scooting back in the couch so she would have a little more room. He liked how when they kissed, there was always that excitement, the thrill. This was real love, the trust, compassion, sincerity. Chase kissed Lexi again, this time with a little more of a passion. He let her taste linger on his lips for a few moments, his eyes still closed until Lexi spoke again.

He opened them, his bright blues twinkling down on Lexi. Her question, her innocence and naivety made him smile. "Yes, Lexi," chase whispered softy, his hands sliding by her knee, giving her a squeeze. "Yes, this is love, these are the sparks," chase promised, now looking up slightly to face her after Lexi having scoot up.

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi had forgotten all about dying. Her biggest worry right now, was whether or not she had drooled during the night. She reached up a hand and frantically tried to still the crazy curls and waves that seemed to refuse to lie flat. She was embarrassed, thinking about what she might look like, but she was counting on him not caring.

She smiled then, when he answered. So this was what love felt like. It was sweeter, more exciting, and colourful some how. As if the word had gotten a whole lot brighter all of a suddenly. Lexi almost laughed, realizing how girly her thoughts were at the moment, when she was regularly not a girly girl. No, she had liked guns and climbing trees much better her whole life. Hence why she never wore heals, and very rarely wore a dress.

But right now, she honestly didn't care what happened next - who disapproved of this, and who tried to tear them apart. She knew now, that what she was feeling was a bond, a strong connection between the two of them. One that could not be broken. Lexi was right, to some extent. Except, that in her ignorance, she failed to notice that the bond was very much a physical thing as well. Her essence was half angel thanks to Chase. His energy, was now in her, and it strengthened the bond. A bond that would likely only grow stronger when Lexi died.

They lay in a thoughtful, comfy silence, his head resting in lexis chest with his eyes closed, his arms squeezed around her waist. There was no way he was going to work, getting out of bed to let something like this be ruined. Chase fell asleep again, unconscious in her arms. He felt like he couldn't live without her, that if she was somehow taken from him, her try in every way to bring her back to him, even if it meant visiting her in the heavens every minute of the day.

Chases growling stomach was what woke him up an hour or so later, the sun much brighter even through the smog of New York City. "Mm...." Chase murmured, still half asleep as he cuddled closer to Lexi, his body hunched together. "Lexi...?" Chase smacked his lips, before tossing aside the covers. He had to get up, it was now or never. "Come on, baby, lets get some breakfast," chase mumbled sleepily, propping himself on his elbow.

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments ((Its ok. It was off for me too.))

The day passed in a flash. They were doing so many things, Lexi hardly remembered all of them. She just remembered that she had a wonderful time, and there was this unshakable joy in her. Now, she was sitting at a table clothed table, picking at an expensive sallad on her plate as she talked to Chase. The table had a small drinks menu on it, along with a little tea candle, and some flowers. The restaurant they were in was lavishly furnished victorian style, with plush pillows and upholstery, and rich dark woods. There were many other people here, talking and lauging and music was playing in the background, but Lexi hardly noticed, as she was only focused on the man across from her.

"So." She said, stabbing her fork into the sallad. "Chase. I hardly know anything about you." Her hair was done up in an exquisite knot that framed her face and left soft curls floating by her cheeks. A simple but beautiful diamond necklace (one chase had given her) hung around her delicate neck. The dress she was wearing was one she had picked out with Chase, when they went shopping, and it was an elegant green that complimented her hair. It swooped in the front, being lower than anything she had worn before, but not too revealing. And the back was all but nonexistent, reaching down almost to the small of her back. And... something that Lexi had not particularily liked about this dress, it was form fitting, and only started to flare out at her knees. "Lets play a game." She offered, raising an eyebrow in challenge. "Ill ask a question and you have to answer truthfully, then you do the same back to me and we keep going." She grinned. "We'll start easy.... first question. What is your favourite colour?"

E M M A | 1540 comments Chase's day had consisted of playing hooky from work and spending time with his beloved redhead. Day 2, and they were completely in love. There was nothing that would seperate them, not even death. Literally. They had spent the morning cuddling and having breakfast at home, then they had ventured out to go shopping for Lexi. If she wasnt going back to the agency for her things, she would obviously need some clothes and personal belongings. Perhaps a little extra. As money wasnt a problem for Chase, he treated Lexi out to expensive stores, making sure she got what she wanted. The little diamond necklace was of his taste, and seemed to suit Lexi well.

Lexi was to die in a few hours, and even though he knew he could fix it all back up, it still made his heart break. The pain she'd have to bear would be immense, and he wouldn't be able to do anything about it. The kill chip had to detonate inside of her, extinguish itself so as not to happen ever again. Chase had done all he could to get his energy back, including a little prayer to his archangel that he would bless them both, so thy could make it through without incident. It certainly had helped, because chase's heart warmed and glowed inside his chest for a few moments, and left him feeling stronger. They would make it through.

Now they sat in a lavish restaurant with exquisite cuisine, the best in New York City for the one he loved. Lexi looked stunning in that green gown, how it brought out her curves and framed her body perfectly. Her red hair was wrapped up on top of her head, with loose tendrils hanging around her cheeks. The diamond necklace he had bought her hung around her neck, the perfect simple accessory to her ensemble. Chase himself had managed to pick something out of his closet, a black button down shirt with the tags still on them, a pair of black slacks, his favorite pearly white Bowtie, and a matching black jacket over the top that hugged his muscular shoulders. His silver watch rested on his wrist, a touch of cologne on his neck. His hair was neatly styled up again, his masculine face cleanly shaven.

"Yet, you came home with me and slept in my apartment," chase laughed, setting his fork down on his plate. It felt like e had known Lexi forever, yet, they knew absolutely nothing about each other. Lexi still didnt even know about Amanda. "A game?" Chase repeated, taking the challenge. It was a fairly simple concept, more like an interviewing. "I can manage that," he agreed, clearing his throat and taking a sip of his wine. Favorite color. Easy. "Truthfully, I like the color blue in all shades," chase said simply, his eyes locking with lexis. "And yours is...? Do I have to come up with a different question?" He added, confirming the rules.

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi blushed and nodded. "Yeah, I did didnt I? Im such a bad girl. My father would shoot me." She smiled a little, holding the top of her wine glass with her finger tips and delicately swirling the contents inside. "Well. As far as strange men go. Im pretty sure you're safe to go home with. Seeing as well... you're an angel." She rolled her eyes, grinning at him. "Literally. Not that thats a bad thing. I think its great. I mean. Im dating an angel. Thats a pretty sentance to put in a profile." She joked. Then she nodded at his colour choice. "Nice pick. Blue is definitely lovely." She agreed, folding her hands and resting her chin on them. "No. You can pick the same one if you want. But it might make it more interesting if you choose different ones." She shrugged.

Then she thought for a moment. "I'd have to say that I like purple best. Or violet to be specific. The kind that you can only find on pansies in the spring. The kind that is so vibrant you just want to touch it and see what the colour feels like." She shook her head, smiling sheepishly. "Sorry. That was my rant." Then she thought for a moment. "Ok. So. Where was your first home?" She asked. She want sure if he had grown up in multiple places, so she asked that instead of where had he grown up.

Her eyes wandered subconsciously to the clock behind Chase on the wall, an elegant little clock, but the sight of it caused her heart to skip a beat. Two hours. Two hours left to live. Lexi's hands grew clammy and her heart sped up. She had seen fellow agents die like she was going to, and it was not quick, nor fun. Lexi swallowed hard and forced herself to look away from the clock and back at Chase.

E M M A | 1540 comments Chase shrugged his shoulders, grinning bashfully with his perfect straight teeth. Lexi did have a point, although he didnt tell her that not very angel could be trusted. If their wings were dark, or were weight and seemed to be soiled with brown patches, they weren't any good. Those were the angels that had turned. Luckily, chase hadnt run into any, even in New York. "Angel sounds so girly, whenever I see little girls dressed up as 'angels' for Halloween, it just makes me cringe..." Chase laughed softly, shaking his head. "An angel dating an agent, isn't that something?" Chase murmured softly, his head tilted a bit to the side.

Chase nodded in understanding, thinking of different questions that would keep them both entertained yet be useful to know at the same time. At purple, chase made a series of mental notes. Lexi loves purple. And pansies. He could see her get lost in thought, babbling about the specific purple shade she loved so much. Chase bit back a smile, seeing as how serious of an answer she had given, how passionately she had replied. "No, no! It's okay, it's given me an idea of what kind of purple it is that you like," chase chuckled lightly. Mentioning of his home, chase's heart warmed.

"Lansing, Michigan," chase stated, "1433 Pine Swallow Lane." The largish house that sat in its own little woods, with pine trees surrounding them on all sides of their property. It was a winter beauty when it snowed, the way the snow coated on the evergreen branches. It was on the edge of the Michigan city, so privacy was abundant for the family. "My angel spirit was finally granted to come down to earth, and man... I was so excited," chase murmured thoughtfully. "I was born in November, to my sweet parents, and they had no idea that I was any different than any other baby," he continued, lost in the memory.

"I wasnt allowed to actually use my powers, I guess you could call it, until I matured... So when I was about.... Thirteen, I think, I could heal myself, not get sick even in the coldest winters, I could fly," he sighed, looking up from where he had been gazing down into the tablecloth. "That's why the cold doesn't bother me, I've grown up with an immunity to what it brings with it," chase shrugged, blushing when he realized he had gone off on a shpeal. "Anyway," chase frowned, noticing that Lexi had stared off behin him, her forehead creased with worry. Glancing at his watch, he understood. Two hours was all she had left.

"Hey," chase whispered, reaching across the table to take hold of lexis hand. "You'll be okay, I promise, I'll try to help as much as I can," he gave her hand a squeeze, offering a reassuring smile. "What's your family like?" He asked gently, trying to ease her mind off of what was coming. There had to be a way to numb the pain somehow. Put er to sleep? Chase didnt want to tamper with it all, just in case the chip didnt detonate properly. What people used technology for was unacceptable.

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi leaned in, listening with rapt attention as he talked about his home. It sounded lovely. Absolutely lovely. He obviously had very fond memories about his childhood. She nodded slowly when he said she would be ok, and that he would help. "Thank you." She said softly, meaning it. She managed a small smile for him, and tried to forget about what was to come. She got that chance when he asked her the next question. She swallowed, actually wishing he hadn't asked that now. But it was too late to do anything about that.

She laughed nervously. "Well... um... define family." She said softly sighing. "I grew up in an orphanage, but I ran when I was six. Growing up in the streets gave me the skill to be an agent." She shrugged, picking at the main course that had been laid before her. It was a lovely medium rare steak with tender mushrooms. "I got in a fair amount of trouble, and it turned out that the officer who brought me in, was my father." She laughed softly at the memory. "So he took me in, and helped me get my spot in the agency." She shrugged, "and I'm here now I guess."

Then she folded her hands, her brain dying with questions about angels. Not to mention her over pressing desire to touch his wings. But she figure she would get to at some point or another. "So, you like... were an incredibly smart baby then I guess, seeing as you had lived before... in um... heaven?" She asked, not entirely sure how the whole angel and heaven thing worked out. Hah, she didn't know how any of it worked at all. "And of course girls dress up as angels! Angels are sweet and gentle and graceful. Or at least what I've seen of them anyways." She said, smiling. "Unless there's some scary side of you that I'm missing?" She raised an eyebrow.

E M M A | 1540 comments Chase listened intently to Lexi's childhood, a pang of guilt stabbing him. He probably should be careful about personal questions, he thought to himself. His life seemed so much easier than Lexi's and he couldn't help but feel sympathy. He could say that the agency had become her home in sorts, had helped make Lexi who she was today. Chase imagined that to be in the agency, she had done things he would never have been able to, wether from fear or conscience. "That's pretty... Crazy, lex," chase marveled softly, his blue eyes studying Lexis expressions. She seemed a bit wistful, upset even.

Chase learned not to judge someone by their cover, that their may be something deeper to them. He had certainly thought Lexi was different when she had come to the hospital, the way she looked at the kids he helped in the hospital with such longing and fondness. It encouraged chase to be more tender with Lexi, to show that even if she didnt exactly have family around, he would be there, always. They shared that special bond that not even distance would break, that he knew. Chase was oblivious to the fac that Lexi possessed more angel than should have been allowed, same with Amanda after they had shared nights together. With each touch, each kiss, the essence inside of her grew stronger.

Lexi spoke again after a short silence, her question liftin the mood. Laughing, chase shook his head. "Incredibly smart baby? I guess," he shrugged, grinning. He had taken his knowledge from heaven with him to the earth, but he never let on what he knew. Chase back then Had been very careful with how much he exposed of himself. "Heaven, yes... Looking over people all the time hadnt been too fun," chase admitted, chewing his lip. "You know... Only two people know about my secret," he whispered, his eyes locking with lexis. "Not even my parents... I didnt know if I could trust them with such knowledge," he sighed, adjusting his seat.

Of course several times when he was young, he had tested his parents and blurted that he was an angel, and could fly. His parents only had shook their heads with laughter, ruffling his curly blonde hair. They wouldn't be able t take it well if they knew that their son had such power, they wouldn't be able to protect him from the people that would come after him. So, he didnt tell a soul. Not his best friends who grew up with him since kindergarten to high school, not his girlfriends. The only reason he told Amanda was in hopes of relieving the stress of keeping his secret to himself, as well as the fact that they were going to spend the rest of their lives, well Amanda's, together. They could see how that went down.

"So you think I'm sweet, gentle, and graceful?" Chase snorted, rolling his eyes as his cheeks flushed. It was girly, he knew it. There were no muscular angels depicted, let alone males unless it was a biblical thing. His eyebrows wiggled playfully over his blue eyes, a smirking smile on his lips. "You'll find out," he said mischievously, before laughing softly. His empty plate sat in front of him, his wine glass set between his fingers. He offered to pour Lexi another glass, before proposing a quick toast before he forgot. If Lexi was to die in less than two hours. "Two the most beautiful woman I've ever met, and that you will recover quickly tonight," chase raised his glass.

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi could understand that much. She didn't know how he controlled himself staying up in heaven that long. She would have been banging on the gates of heaven and asking to be sent down so she could straighten out the people down here. She knew she wouldn't be able to just watch while people did wrong and got away with it. That was part of the reason she had done her job so well. She had a passion for it, when the reason behind it was just.

He had told her and one other person? Really? And that other person wasn't one of his parents? Lexi's interest grew, and she raised an eyebrow. "So you had a girlfriend before me then?" She immediately assumed. She was fairly good at reading people, along with deduction. And seeing as he had told her, his girlfriend... Lexi blushed when she thought the word. It made sense that the other one would be a girlfriend as well. Her question wasn't probing, or accusing either. It was more curious.

Then Lexi laughed softly when he talked about her finding out. "Oh I will, will I?" She grinned, her curiosity spiking. She knew, though, that she would probably have to wait to see what ever he was talking about, as the time was edging closer and closer to an hour before... well... Lexi referred to it as 'the event' in her mind. Then she smiled and tapped her glass delicately with his, flushing at his compliment. She drank her wine a little quicker this time, hoping the alcohol could give her some courage she didn't posses for what was coming.

Desert was set down then, and she slowly started to eat the small cake that was in front of her. She leaned her cheek on her fist, one side of her mouth tugging up into a lazy smile. "So you can heal." she stated, taking a small bite of cake and swallowing it before she continued. "Any other powers? Or do angels just have one specific power?"

E M M A | 1540 comments At the word girlfriend, chase flinched. She had figured out to some extent, how much she knew he had no idea. "Fiancée," he murmured bitterly, tearing his eyes away from lexis. He still, after nearly eight months, couldn't let the entire situation go. Chase contine to have dreams, nemories of his happier moments with Amanda, the days they shared, the secrets they kept. They had known each other for seven years, and telling her had been difficult. But with Lexi... After saving her life, it was easy to reveal to her everything. She understood him, accepted him for what he was.

Chase didnt even know what his bad side was, if he even had one. Maybe he cheated a few times, littered once in a while, swore, but nothing serious. He was an angel. "Maybe... To be honest Lexi, I don't have a 'bad' side," he laughed softly, tryin to remember the last one he had been angry. Only after the breakup, seven months ago, he could remember. Nothing could really press his buttons, he had seen it all. Their glasses clinked softly, silence following as Chase downed the rest of the red wine. The best. He only hoped that the toast god would listen to him.

"Thank you," chase smiled pleasantly at the waitress who set down the cake slice, with rich chocolate and whipped cream among an assortment of other cake layers. "That's the prettiest cake I've ever seen," chase laughed, taking up a fork and inspecting it on his side. Absolutely perfect, with the little chocolate drizzle design on the plate. Chase looked up from the cake, biting his forkful with approval. He couldn't help but crack a smile, coughing before he choked on his cake. Humans were curious things, it was actually quite adorable how interested Lexi was in his angel side, the way she had ogled his wings when they were spread earlier.

"Nothing you don't already know... Heal, bring people from the dead, obviously, fly, be invisible, immortality, and changing my age," chase shrugged, as if it were no big deal. It wasnt, seeing as he had contained these abilities since the beginning of his existence, who knew how long ago. Somewhere in the 1800's on earth, he could guess. That made him over two hundred years old, spirit wise. Chase ate at their desert, trying o distract himself from what he would have two do to Lexi in two hours. It was a growing concern if he would make it.

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Fiance? Lexi swallowed slowly, her heart tearing for him. "I'm so sorry." She said softly. "I shouldn't have pried." She said, looking down. She felt badly for asking about something that was obviously sensitive, and the pain she saw in his eyes stabbed her heart like a sword.

The mood was lifted when he talked about the cake and Lexi grinned, nodding. "It is nice, isn't it? Tastes great too." She said, savoring another bite of the cake. She smiled as he answered the question, and then she raised an eyebrow. "Changing your age? So like, looking whatever age you want to?" She asked. "That means you're old... doesn't it?" She inquired, raising an eyebrow, a roguish smile on her face. Well, lovely wasn't that? Her father certainly wouldn't approve since he thought four years older was too old for her.

Her eyes wandered to the clock again as they finished the cake, and she chewed her lip. An hour and 15. She looked up at Chase, her heart pounding. "We should be back, at least a half hour before. There's no guarantee it will be exactly on the minute." She said softly, looking back down at her hands. They were trembling a little. Even though she willed them to stop, they refused to, so she tucked them under the table and out of sight.

E M M A | 1540 comments Chase shook his head with a sad smile, his eyes trained on the tablecloth. "It's fine... You didnt know," he murmured, not elaborating further on the painful subject. Instead, chase reached for lexis hand once again, intertwining their fingers to feel that same comfort from earlier, that he wouldn't have to suffer the same experience again. Returning that ring to the jeweler had been hella depressing, as well as embarassing.

He took one last bite, having felt that he had eaten more than his portion of the cake, and set the fork down on his empty plate. His napkin dabbed at his lips, before he flagged down their waitress for the check. "Yes, changing my age! I'm over two hundred years old, spirit wise," chase laughed softly at her astonishment. "I can't make myself older, though... So anything under 27," chase smiled. He wondered how old Lexi was, seeming as she was pretty young in her years. What if he was too old? "Old, I guess I am... I've seen alot from above," chase sighed, his fingers curling around the twblecloth and bunching it in between his fingers.

"Yes... We should definitely get home," chase murmured, his voice cracking. The check was paid along with a generous tip, and chase stood to leave. "Come on, Lexi," he said sympathetically, offering his arms to her. Lexi would have to endure such great pains, and e could tell by the way she trembled that she knew what to expect. "Would a pain medication help? Or an aesthetic? I could swing by the hospital an sneak some," he offered gently, trying to ease the anxiety of her death. He guided her from the upscale restaurant into the breezy August night, the cool air nipping at his ears.

message 130: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi immediately retreated into his arms, hugging him tightly before walking out of the restaurant with him. She felt safe in his arms, and she really needed to feel that right now. Dying was a funny thing. For most of one's life, you didn't even think about it. You just regarded it as some far off dream that would never reach you. But now that Lexi knew she was dying in a little less than an hour, it was haunting her. What worried her most, was whether or not she would be able to hold her spirit to the earth long enough for Chase to heal her, and that Chase would be able to accomplish it. The pain involved was causing her to tremble, but she knew it would not last. She knew she would only have to endure it for a while.

She shook her head slowly in response to his question as they walked out into the chilly fall air. "I'm afraid that wont help. I don't know how it works exactly, but I know the pain will be there, regardless. Its a warning I guess. They don't want too many people committing suicide, so they didn't bother adding anything that would help stop the pain." she said softly. Her lips were pressed together in a thin line as she tried to look braver than she felt inside.

As they flew back, Lexi was barely aware of what they were passing. Her mind wasn't on the present, it was dwelling on the future, and she grew more and more pale from fear as time passed. No matter how much she tried to distract herself, she knew there was no way her mind would get off of her impending future. Come on. Try to think positive. If all goes well, you'll be just fine and free, in half an hour. But somehow she knew those minutes would be living hell.

E M M A | 1540 comments The flight home was troubling, a silence fallen between the two as chase transported them home. Lexi would die in less than an hour now, and he'd have to listen to her scream and cry with the agonizing pain that came with the killing chip. Chase tried not to think about any of it, curling his face into lexis chest while flying back to the apartment. The building soon came into view, soft lights illuminating the entire buildings outside. Chase landed on the balcony once again, guiding Lexi inside the apartment wuietly, gloomy on the upcoming event.

"You should lay down, Lexi," chase suggested, shrugging off his jacket and loosening his Bowtie around his neck. He draped a blanket back over the black leather couch, resting a pillow by the arm rests for Lexi. "Here," chase sighed, his hands sliding around lexis waist. He hugged her tightly, his face buried in her shoulder as a million wishes ran through his mind. "Good luck, baby, hold on, okay?" Chase pleaded, utterly distraught. Hotel fully the kill hip failed to work or something, was damaged. Whatever. Chase pressed his lips to lexis, kissing her with a love he'd never felt before.

Chase would do anything to make sure that Lexi survived, that she made it back through and was able to function normally. Not one bit of her soul could escape, or they'd have a few problems. "When you wake up, I'll probably be passed out," chase warned her, planting soft little kisses on her cheek and nose. They didnt know when the pain would take her, and he made sure every kiss, every second, counted. "I love you," he sighed at last, seating Lexi on the couch. She looked so afraid, and he couldn't blame her. What human died twice?

message 132: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi nodded numbly when he suggested that she lie down. She moved into the apartment as if in a trance, her face pale and emotionless. She hugged him back tightly, not willing to let go. Her heart was pounding so hard she thought it would burst. She almost wished it would. It would be a quicker death than this. Lexi started to worry about him when he said he would be passed out. Passed out was better than dying though. She was just worried it would take too much of him to heal her. His kisses and words caused a small smile to briefly show. "I love you too." She said, hiding her face against his chest as she tried not to cry from the stress.

She felt herself get lowered to the couch, and her fear only grew. She clung to Chase, not willing to let him leave. "Please hold me until its over?" She asked, looking up at him with large, frightened eyes. Her hands were really trembling now, and she couldn't hide it at all. She looked over at the clock, her eyes wide. There were five minutes left technically, but it could start at any second. Lexi forced her eyes away from the clock and buried her face against Chase, as if to hide from the pain. But this time, she knew there was no where to hide.

A bolt shot through her then, making her feel like she had just been struck by lightening and every single muscle in Lexi's body tensed as tight as a bowstring, a strangled cry escaping her lips. Then a second bolt came, faster, more powerful. Gold and red spots danced before her eyes and Lexi grit her teeth, determined not to cry, her hands curling into fists. By the third, she could barely choke down a scream, and after that, she no longer could control the reactions she had. Each and every bolt that shot through her was accompanied by a searing fire that brought tears of pain to her eyes.

She was trembling hard now, but not from fear anymore. She didn't think her body could take this pain. And she was right. It was killing her. Struggling for air between shocks, she looked up at Chase, her large eyes and tear stained face could only be described as pitiful. "P-please." She begged. "Please make it stop." She screamed again, this time black spots clouded her vision. And then a bolt shot through her that was so powerful, it paralyzed her. She couldn't breathe, she couldn't move. She could only look up sadly at Chase as tears streamed down her face.

Then her body loosened. She felt herself slip, as if she had fallen down into a dark hole. Her head lolled back and her eyes closed as her whole body relaxed. A sigh escaped her lips and everything went dark.

E M M A | 1540 comments Chase sat willingly beside Lexi, his weight sinking into the couch. Despite her dress, he sat her in his lap, his arms wrapped around her waist tightly. "I'll be here, I promise," chase vowed, clutching her body desperately to him. His eyes watered, the coming aspect of her death making his heart lurch. The first time was unexpected, but it was unbearable waiting for the second. Her delicate hands shook uncontrollably, her stomach quivering at his soft touch. She was beginning to shed a few tears, her body curled up close on his lap. "I'll hold you, I've got you, shhhh..." Chase choked, glancing at the clock as one minute remained. Thirty seconds.

Then- her body jerked in his arms, her mouth thrown open in a silent scream as if something had struck her. Her body flexed, writhing in his arm as a succession of jolting occurred, her eyes distant as the pain ate at her from the inside. Chase sobbed, only able to hug her chest to his face and secure his vision from witnessing her horrific expressions. She screamed, the blood curdling shriek ringing painfully in his ears as her legs kicked, her fingernails curling around his biceps. "Lexi, come on baby, come on, please!" Chase whimpered, his body itching o help her. It tore him in to pieces to just feel her suffer.

"I-in sorry baby, I can't-" chase managed through strangled sobs, his voice shaking with each scream. She became limp in his arms, her dull eyes starin into his. Tears sparkled with the light from above, her hands still shaking subconsciously. "Oh god... Why are they so cruel...?" Chase whispered to the heavens, as Lexi completely fell away from him. He knew now what he had to do, but his mind had gone completely in shock. He couldn't bear it. "Lexi-! Lexi, Lexi," he moaned, wailing into her chest. It was unbearable, this clenching pain in his chest.

Chase for himself together after a few minutes alone, quickly remembering what he had to do. By then, blood had begun to leak from lexis ears, and he knew he was losing time. He placed his shaking palms over lexis chest, closing his eyes and taking a shuddering breath. The chants were uttered, and soon enough, his whole body was aflame. The white light engulfed him and Lexi as he felt his energy leave him, tugging at her soul as her spirit was swallowed back into lexis heart. But to fix the brain damage, it had taken alot more than chase had thought.

His mouth opened, nothing but a silence able to come from his lips. His body began to shake uncontrollably, and that's when chase knew he was in trouble. It was a terrifying feeling, one that he never thought he'd ever experience. Chase's shouts turned into heavy breathing, his body straining between staying in one piece, or vanishing with his essence. With a final prolonged scream, the light vanished, and lexi inhale sharply. Chase was sweating profusely, his weakened body slumped and slowly falling from the couch. His eyes were closed, his lips dry and his face wet both from the tears and his sweating, his wings bunched up at his back improperly.

Chase looked like a wreck, in compelte unconsciousness. He had almost vanished, if it hadnt been for that final push the archangel had provided him. Now, it would take a few days, two, or three at the least, for him to wake up again. He had hit a coma, but it wasnt like any other. He didnt need to eat, drink, get rid of waste, or breathe. In fact, to any other person, he woul have seemed dead. No pulse, no temperature, just limp. Chase had outdone himself this time, nearly giving his existence for lexis life.

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi felt herself drift from her body, slowly floating away. She fought it, and she fought hard. She worked to stay hovering above Chase and her body, watching with worry and fear, and sadness. Tears were rolling down the face of her spirit. And not because she had died, but because of the pain she saw on her lover's face. It broke what remained of her heart.

Then Chase started to chant, and the heavenly light she had seen before engulfed him and her body. Then she felt this strange tugging, and her spirit was guided back into her body. Lexi's soul was still aware however, and was still watching from inside her body. She watched as Chase's mouth suddenly opened, and a jolt of fear ran through her. Was he overdoing it!?

Chase actually looked afraid for a moment there, and then his body started to waver. If that was even possible. It looked like he was almost... fighting to stay solid. Fighting to stay here... Lexi felt icy fear clutch her, and she started to struggle furiously. Chase! No! She screamed in her mind. But of course, she could not move her body, so it was not audible.

She was forced to watch helplessly as Chase screamed. And then her eyes snapped open and she was breathing again. Lexi jerked upright, feeling perfectly fine, but her worry was not herself. She looked around for Chase and spotted him on the floor. A strangled cry escaped her lips. She jumped down beside him, wrapping her arms around him, her eyes wide. "Chase! Chase please stay with me!" She begged, shaking him. He was limp in her arms, his hair disheveled, his wings crumpled beneath him.

Lexi's facial expression changed from fear, to shock, to anger, to utter despair. "Chase!" She shrieked, shaking him harder. "Chase wake up! Don't do this to me! Wake up!" Hot tears sprang into her eyes. "Please, don't leave me here alone." She begged, the tears slipping down her cheeks. Chase didn't wake up, and his body stayed limp, and a deathly shade of white. Lexi's heart broke and a sob escaped her lips.

Her shoulders slumped in defeat and she let herself fall beside Chase, her arms wrapped around his limp form. She buried her face against his chest, her arm slowly lifting one of his limp ones and wrapping it around herself. Now it felt like he was holding her. She snuggled up against him and sobbed.

What Lexi failed to notice, was that for this whole period of time, she was glowing. Not as strongly as Chase did. Not even near. But she was glowing none the less.

E M M A | 1540 comments Chase lay limp on the couch for over 48 hours, his body unmoving and his wings molting dull white feathers all over the floor. Internally, his essence was struggling to recover, several times that nigt his body becoming transparent and flickering a pale white glow. The only thing that kept chase on earth was that he wouldn't give up on Lexi, not after saving her. They had a life to live together, happiness and sunshine to share. As the hours passed, his body ceased to flicker with uncertainty, lying on the leather couh now just motionless. No breathing, no flicking of the eyeball below the eyelid. Motionless. Dead to any human doctor, without a pulse.

Around two in the afternoon two days later, Monday, chase came to. It was a gradual thing, first coming to consiousness inside his head. It took him a while to remember who he was, what e was doing, why he was lying here. Lexi. Chase fought his eyelids, gritting his teeth with what little physical energy he had gained back after his essence had delicately been restored, still a extremely fragile. A cold would have an effect on him. His eyes opened to see the ceiling fan above, siting there in the quiet apartment. It seemed that even the city outside had been mourning.

Chase was still unable to get up as much as he strained to wiggle a finger, his eyes rolling in his head to try and catch a glimpse of his redhead girlfriend. She knelt beside the couch with her head in his side, her red curls tangled and splayed across his chest. From what he could see, she hadnt changed out of her clothes the first night, and he was still in his suit. His Bowtie was somewhere else, a few buttons undone. His skin was clammy, his skin extremely pale even for a white person.

He opened his mouth to say lexis name, his cest now slowly rising and falling. No words came out as he mouthed her name repeatedly, only a simple wheeze coming from his lips. He wanted the poor girl to look up to see that he was awake! He was here, she needn't mourn for him! He was alive, and he would get better! She needed to look up. "Le-ex-" he managed to rasp, his throat aching miserably.

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments With Chase gone from her life, Lexi had lost the will to live. She wouldn't kill herself. No, that would be rendering chase's last gift to her useless. But she didnt leave him, and she didn take care of herself either. She went to the bathroom and to get a drink once, just so that she wouldn't die. But other than that, she stayed by Chase's side, her head tucked against him. She was rail thin by the rest of the two days, and her tears had long since dried out.

It seemed like all of the light had been sucked from her world, and her heart was left shattered. The only light left was one she didnt notice. Her soft glow.

Then Lexi heard a soft, plaintive whisper and her head snapped up. She looked to Chase and saw that his chest was rising and falling. He was breathing. And his eyes were slightly open. Lexi gasped out of shock and joy and she hugged him tightly. "Chase!" She cried, kissing his cheek.then she pulled away and frowned at him. "Dont you dare scare me like that again." She said seriously, scolding him.

E M M A | 1540 comments Chase whimpered at lexis sudden embrace, grunting as he struggled to breathe aginst lexis strong grip. It felt so too to be back again, nothing holding them back now beside his physical inability to move. Chase swallowed what little saliva he could get, letting the moisture rest in the back of his throat. "Hey, babe," chase whispered, a small smile on his lips. He had slowly become a little more adjusted to being awake. "I.... I told you.... I told you... I..." Chase coughed, his body shuddering in the cold. His wings crushed beneath his weight painfully.

"Help," chase simply wheezed, lifting a shoulder and suggesting with the nudging of a wing caught under his heavy body. Once Lexi was able to assist him very slowly an painfully, his molting wings lay spread out, over the couch at half their normal size not fully extended. Seeing the feathers in piles on the floor terrified chase, made him worry. He wasnt dying, so what had happened? And why was Lexi glowing? Lexi. Lexi! She looked so ill, her body thin and fragile. The dress seemed looser than when he had last seen her, her skin as sickly as his own.

Had Lexi really neglected to care for herself while he was out? Had his passing out really done that much to hurt her? "Lex... You're sick," he managed to whisper, his voice not fully back again. It hurt to talk, but he needed to set things straight. Lexi had to take better care of herself,n regardless if he was dying or not. "Did you... E-eat?" He cleared his throat, feebly reaching a hand out to caress her face.

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments "Shhh." Lexi said, shaking her head. She didnt wish him to exert himself just by talking to her. He was alive, yes, but she could feel that he ws weak. She helped him up, hating how tattered his wings looked. Had she caused that? By having him save her? Had she caused him to loose his beautiful wings? She hoped not. She had never gotten a chance to touch them.

Lexi shook her head stubbornly. "Im just fine." She insisted. She was not, and she knew that. But she cared more about him than herself. She needed to stay with him to make sure he was alright over eating. He asked about her meals and lexi bit her lip and looked down. "No. I didn't. " she said softly. It was true. Not one morsel of food for that whole period of time. She hadn't had the heart nor the stomach to eat when he had been 'dead'.

E M M A | 1540 comments Chase frowned with disapproval, highly upset. Just because he had been passed out, Lexi had worried too much. He hadnt had a single meal, he didnt even care to personally groom herself. A girl. "Lexi... I gave... I gave you your life back-" he broke off coughing, his body shaking uncontrollably. Once e recovered, he contined speaking. "Don't waste this... Your health... Take care of it," chase pleaded, knowing he wouldn't be able to take care of her much at all for the next week or two.

"Go make something for yourself... Now," chase said firmly as e could manage, with that raspy voice of his. Lexi now was another worry he had to concern himself with, making the recovery a little longer than it had to be. He just hoped Lexi got some sense into her, and pulled herself together. His now flimsy wings lay motionless and rigid, his body the same. Chase said a silent thanks to his archangel, the one who had saved him when his body had begun to transform into his spirit, his essence, nearly disappearing from existence altogether.

Another thing that confused chase was lexis natural light. "Why are you glowing?" He whispered, party in confusion and partly in worry. What had he done to her? Chase was beginning to feet that the human had too much of an angels essence, and that her body would slowly either away from its power. He couldn't have that happen.

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi bit her lip, looking down. She felt rather guilty now, and she couldn't bring herself to look at him. When he told her to make something, she nodded weakly and forced her stiff legs to straighten. She stretched to try and regain some feeling before walking to the fridge and grabbing an apple. With her first bite crunching into the soft flesh, lexi closed her eyes, enjoying the taste before devouring the rest of the fruit. Then she grabbed another, and started eating that one as well.

Her eyes widened at Chase's glowing comment, and for the first time, she looked down at herself. Her eyes shot wide open and she stumbled backwards a bit. "W-what is that? What happened to me!?" Then she thought of something. "Am I an angel?" She asked soflty, looking over at him. She had to know. Would she be... an angel? "And your wings... are they ok?" She asked as well.

E M M A | 1540 comments Chase could rest a bit easier hearing Lexi eat in the kitchen, the crisp crunching of an apple echoing in his ears. His dull blue eyes shut, his chest rising and falling ever so slowly. His chest ached, and every breath caused his body to squeeze in protest. Chase was able to look at how pale his arms had become, a thin sheen of sweat making him clammy to the touch. He didnt feel good, at all. For someone who hadnt experience a fever or any kind of illness at all, chase was feeling quite sorry for himself as his forehead pounded in his ears.

Chases head tited to the side, observing Lexi from afar. In the shaded lighting of the apartment, her glowing body could be noticed muh better from a distance. "It's my essence, the very thing that makes me an angel," chase cleared his throat, his voice finally returning to him. "No, no Lexi... Not yet," he promised, gnawing his bottom lip on hopes he was right. If she died one more time, maybe. If he came in contact with her more often and more intimately, they would have a problem. He didnt mind sharing himself as an angel, but the question was of Lexi was okay with it.

If she refused it at all, he could simply drain her essence day by day, until there was none left and she returned to being completely human. He had had to do that for Amanda and his family members quite often, worried that they would catch on. "My wings are fine," chase murmured sadly, reaching a slow arm up to brush his fingers across a fluffy feather that was ready to fall.

((Hey Lara is it possible for you to do a little bit of longer posts >.< I get it if you can't, just wondering, it'd make it easier for me to think of things to write))

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments ((Oh yeah for sure, lol. I was half asleep and on my phone when I wrote those last couple posts XP ))

Lexi paused halfway into taking another bite out of the apple and raised an eyebrow at him. His... essence? Wouldn't that hurt him? Worry plagued Lexi's mind and she walked back over, kneeling down beside him. Her small hand slipped into one of his larger ones and held it. "You're giving away your... angel... um.... angel essence I guess..." She said, fumbling over what to call it. "You're giving it to me!?" Her brow knotted in worry and her eyes landed on his. "But wont that... doesn't that mean that you're less angel now? Will your essence like, recharge or something? Please tell me it does! I don't want you to disappear like you were doing there for a bit. You can't die for me Chase. You can't!" She cried, a note of panic in her voice. Her hand had subconsciously tightened on his, holding it like a life line.

Then Lexi frowned briefly. Not yet!? What was that supposed to mean? Was he turning her into an angel!? Lexi had to admit that that would be pretty awesome. And yet at the same time, she didn't want him to do it if it would kill him. "So I will be an angel eventually if you keep giving this stuff to me?" She asked softly, trying to get the facts straight. She thought for a minute, chewing her lip before looking back at him. "If it will kill you to keep giving me your angel stuff, then stop it. Stop it right now." She said, a certain fierceness to her voice. Then she looked down, closing her eyes and taking in one long shaky breath. "I can't lose you again Chase." She murmured.

Then she sighed slowly. "As long as you'll be fine and your essence stuff will recharge, then I'm fine with being an angel." She said decisively, knowing it was a decision that would change her life forever. Then a frown crossed her features. Chase said his wings were fine, and yet he looked so sad. He would not be sad if his wings were in fact fine. Lexi's eyes trailed over the piles of feathers around them. Her heart started to hammer. "No. Your wings aren't fine. You're not dying are you!?" her eyes were wide with fear for him. "Are you sick? Is that what's causing the feathers to fall?" Then she had a horrifying thought. "Is it because of me? Is it because I've got some of your essence?" She asked, almost begging him to tell her it wasn't so.

E M M A | 1540 comments ((Ok yeah I figured as much!!! Hahah Lexi xD il be at the beach for a few hours :3))

Chase grinned in spite of himself at the rapid fire of lexis questions, his eyes closing momentarily. The way she cared so badly for him and how concerned she was for his health was amazing. "Yes, yes I am giving it away," chase murmured thoughtfully. "I'm no less angel at the moment, I've still got my wings and a little bit of my essence, right?" Chase smiled weakly. His eyes widened at her demands, and he nodded quickly. "It does, I promise! It'll just take a few weeks to be back," chase explained softly, his hand squeezing hers weakly. "I'm not gonna die, lex," chase scoffed. "From here on out, I'll only get better," he swore.

He cringed at the face Lexi made in reaction to becoming an angel, panic striking his heart. "If I don't take any of it, yes," he mumbled. "I mean, if you don't want to be angel, I totally understand, I can fix that," his eyes flicked up nervously to Lexi. "Hey, I told you already! I'll be fine, just don't die anymore," chase teased, even thought the joke probably wasnt aporopriate. It was different, the way Lexi protected him so feircely and strongy. Her fiery red hair with a personality to match.

Chase nearly choked At lexis decision, never before imagining that shed actually say that. Being an angel was a bit of a burden sometimes. "Lexi! I will be fine, stop worrying about it, you're making me worry!" He croaked, cringing at how loud he had gotten. "Are you sure you want that? An angel?" Chase whispered slowly. "My wings are fine. I've just been basically dead the last few days, it's why they're so.. Ugly," chase pit it simply, tugging on lexis hand to pull her closer. His physical energy was regaining by the minutes, and by the end of the day, maybe he could sit up and stand. Maybe.

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments ((yeah... XD aww. Ok. I'll miss you. Have fun :) ))

Lexi listened to him and then forced herself to relax slowly. He'll be alright. His wings will be alright. So everything is ok. She told herself decisively. Then she nodded slowly. "I don't intend to die again." She said, letting a small smile show.

Then she nodded slowly, looking down. She tugged on one of the loose curls around her face. "Yeah." She said, cementing her decision. She looked up at him. "That way you wont be so lonely for eternity." She bit her lip, feeling kind of guilty for bombing him with so many questions. "I'm sorry. I over think things sometimes... I worry about you too much I guess." She said softly, shaking her head. "Its hard not to worry. I've been trained to be cautious." She explained, shrugging.

She hugged him then, laying her head on his chest when he tugged her closer. Listening to his heart calmed her, and she took a couple deep breaths, allowing the tension in her shoulders to relax. She thought about what had happened and tears sprung into her eyes. Now that she was no longer on edge, worrying that he would die, her own emotion was poking through. She was embarrassed to be crying, especially right now. She was supposed to be strong. To be full of gratitude for him saving her life. And she was. But she couldn't forget the searing pain she had felt when she thought he had died. She turned her face into his shirt as the tears silently slipped from her eyes.

E M M A | 1540 comments The fact that Lexi was willing to bear the burden of living forever struck chase in his heart, his body melting into her touch. Why? They already had the human lifetime to go through together. Wouldn't she get tired of him, of living? "But lex..." He bit his trembling lip, touched. "Thank you, thank you... You don't know how much that really means to me," he swallowed, his less muscular arms simply draped around her shoulders wih a squeeze for a hug.

Chase laughed, wiping his tears with trembling hands. "I-it's okay... Thank you for the concern," he teased, pressing his lips for a few moments against her forehead. "I love you," he whispered, adjusting with her weight on his chest. They lay there in silence for a while, the only noise being their steady breathing and the count of the kitchen clock. Finally, they had some pece to themselves.

After a while, chase cleared his throat and tilted his head to take a glimpse at lexis disheveled appearance. "Your hair is a mess, Lexi," he observed softy, his fingers tangling in the bright red locks tangled about her face. "Why don't you go have some time to yourself? I'll be okay," he promised, feeling slightly had for taking up all of lexis time the past few days. She really deserved her time to relax, get her head cleared. It would be good for her. And being his girlfriend and all, he was really concerned. It wasnt every week you met an angel and died twice. At this rate, Lexi would age into an old woman in a month.

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi smiled a little and lifted her head, wiping her tears away. "It's no problem really. You're the one who's been saving me over and over." She managed, a small half laugh half sob as she tried to control her emotions. She blushed in embarrassment at his observation of the state of her hair. She nodded slowly, glancing worriedly at him for a moment before deciding it would be alright. "Ok. Thank you. I'll only take a few minutes." She promised, getting off of him rather reluctantly.

She stretched her stiff muscles and walked slowly down the hall to his bedroom, where they had hastily dumped all of their shopping bags before heading out to dinner. Shifting through them, Lexi found a pair of dark jeggings, a tank top, and knit sweater to go on top before heading to the washroom. She turned the water on hot, before undressing and slipping into the shower. She sighed happily as the warm water poured over her, and began to rub shampoo into her scalp.

The events of the last couple days had been strange, to say the least. So much had happened, in such a short amount of time. Lexi felt like she had just met Chase, and at the same time, she felt like she had known him for forever. Time was a tricky thing when you thought about it too long. She rinsed out the shampoo and started to rub in conditioner, singing softly to herself. As the shock and pain of the last couple days started to fade into the past, that inexplicable joy and love returned again.

Lexi found herself smiling once more, and she quickly dried off and turned off the shower. Wrapping herself in a towel, she grabbed a brush and started to run it through her long dark, wet hair. It reached down to the small of her back when it was wet like this, as it looked shorter when it was curly. Slipping into her clothes, she quickly washed her face and brushed her teeth, before leaving the bathroom again, eager to rejoin Chase.

E M M A | 1540 comments Chase lay at rest on the couch, watching lexi find her way to his room, to reemerge with some clothes and duck into the bathroom. Once the shower began to run, chase closed his eyes with relief. Now alone, he felt a little afraid, the silence of the apartment feeling highly uncomfortable. The shower's soft lulling hum put chase to sleep, exhaust washing over him. He could hardly think anymore, unmotivated to even stress about his work. Surely they wouldn't fire him, right? Despite his sleepiness, chase began to fret. How was Andy? Was he going into therapy for his legs yet? What about the girl with the bloody arm? Did she go home already?

Chase was awakened from his 'sleep' by the opening and closing of a door, followed by soft footsteps on the dark wood floors. Lexi. His eyes blinked open, te pools of a weak blue scanning the living room. She approached him, all cleaned up and dressed in new clothes. He figured he must smell a little funny after three days of not washing or changing. "Hey, gorgeous," he murmured, a smile creeping on his lips.

Lexis red hair lay in wet ringlets around her shoulders, seeming alot shorter than when it had dried an been brushed out into waves. Her skin seemed refreshed, the tear stains washed away. There was some actual color in her cheeks and lips, a bit of a bounce in her step. "Come give smelly chase a hug," he pouted, his arms gingerly spreadin open to accommodate the redhead. His relatively thinner limp wings were still spread, dangling off one edge of the couch.

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi smiled back, "Hey handsome." She whispered, padding over the carpet to where he was lying on the couch. He looked so lost and alone lying there, like a scolded puppy. She smiled softly and laughed a little when he ushered her over. She hugged him, pulling herself into his arms on the couch. She was careful not to crush him or his wings. She didn't want to injure him further. Her wet hair was creating a damp circle on her sweater, but she honestly didn't care at the moment.

She reached up and kissed Chase sweetly, before lifting herself up on her elbows to smile down at him. She found herself just looking at him, taking in his perfect face, every single contour and chiseled curve, and those mesmerizing blue eyes. "You're irresistible. You know that?" She said softly, pecking his nose. Then her worry for him kicked in again, and her smile toned down a notch. "Do you need anything? Are you hungry? Thirsty? Do you want to have a bath? Do you want me to get you different clothes? Or make you coffee?" She asked, listing off all the things she thought he might want or need. She wanted to make sure he was as happy and comfortable as possible.
