I am currently reading Great Ladies The Forgotten Witnesses to the Lives of the Tudor Queens. It's a fascinating book about the women who who surrounded them.
I am also reading Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis The Untold Story, an interesting bio and lastly I am slogging through Kingdom Keepers with my grandson- a book he bought in Disney which is one long commercial for the theme park dressed up in Harry Potter clothing.
I just finished the Worm Whisper with him and it made me cry. (in a good way)

Heirs of Power by Kay MacLeod and it is EPIC! Great storyline and fun characters. I am halfway through and so far would recommend it as an excellent YA/fantasy read.

OOh, def gonna have to add Great Ladies to my wish list. TThat particular Jackie book is also pretty good. Afterwards you may want to read Jackie: America's Queen, to compaare notes. Lastly I once read a book about the women in Louis XIV's court and I coudln't put it down. I read it in two days!! I love your books :)

I'm re-reading The Persian Boy by Mary Renault. It's like comfort food for me although I don't know why I do this to myself because every time I finish it I walk around all weepy for a day or two, as if I didn't knoe the ending smh. Isn't insanity doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome? lol

Yes, but there is nothing like the comfort of an old friend of a book.

Did you read Margaret George's book Confessions of a Young Nero. Loved it. Just finished Enemies of Versailles which was about Louis XV daughters and their conflict with Du Barry. Great read. I bought the two earlier books, but I haven't gotten to them yet.

I just bought The Persian Boy- It is now on my TBR pile. Sounds good. I am also slowly reading Amy Licence's Catherine of Aragon. I love her books.

I should add, I have a bunch of indies I am reading, but I won't give out their names until I finish them.

Omg I'm literally watching my favorite studio documentaryThe Last Days of Anne Boleyn. This era and her story have fascinated me since I was a little girl. I have to read that book Carole!

Just finished Guarding Sierra by Aislnn Kerns. Fun read for a Friday night.

Well now I'm reading the first edition of Indie Authors Monthly. We're live!

Ooh too much good stuff here!! I also want to mention the katherine Swinsford novel...I am drawing a blank on the title and author *grrr* but it was exquisite. Great love that endures is one of my favorite themes and the fact that this was a true story makes me all goofy inside. Extremely well-written and when Prince John shows up at an unexpected part of the story let me just tell you I had to pause, squeal and collect myself before I could continue. A book that can do that is just...wow!

Funny, it's the only Seton novel I really loved. It was better than Philippa Gregory's stuff although I do like her even though she is a little more like historical fiction fast food...

Erin- I completely agree with you, none of her other books measured up to Katherine. The Seton book started me on my quest to know Gaunt's whole family and untangle the York's from the Lancaster's. I love the Chaucer connection to them.

Alex- I loved the Harry Potter series. Do you like the graphic novels better than standard ones? I've just started reading them with my grandson- he enjoys them- I bought Percy Jackson's graphic novels, and while I'll admit I like novels better, he plows through the graphic ones.

I'm not sure about HP- I think there are some, but Percy Jackson's got a bunch.

What's interesting about the Percy Jackson graphic novels is that he has the Greek demigods joining forces with Roman demigods, so now you can compare the Greek and Roman mythology.

t grabbed the GOT graphic novel on ebay for my sister, although we're still fighting over Little Finger :/

I haven't read Percy Jackson. It is one of those books on my TBR list I never got to. Been hoping to read it with my kiddos when they get older. :)

Currently reading The Circle by Dave Eggers. A previous book I read - The Blockbuster Code - rated this book the highest out of all the books they studied so you know I had to find out why!!

So far it's been pretty good; thought provoking stuff ;)

I read it a while ago. I loved the first half , but felt it lost steam in the second part. If I remember, it got way too technical. I know I didn't love it- I didn't keep the book.

I've just begun reading A Modest Genius: The Story of Darwin's Life and How His Ideas Changed Everything by Hanne Strager.

A very informative mix of Darwin biography, history and scientific background.
I'm not that strong on science and don't have much background knowledge about evolution theory.

My family all believe in creationism, when I was growing up evolution was a dirty word to my parents. My grandmother took the fire&brimstone approach to religion and had quite the violent temper when disagreed with. The name Charles Darwin risked triggering a volcanic explosion and could never even be whispered in the house.

I was raised in a fundamentalist church. I'm now a Christian who accepts Big Bang and evolutionary theory.

I'm reading Under a Dark Star by Anna Faversham; a story of smuggling and wrecking on the Isle of Wight. I read the first book One Dark Night and enjoyed it very much. I'm halfway through the sequel and it's just as enjoyable.

I just finished reading These Shallow Graves by Jennifer Donnelly. A mystery/romance set in 1890 New York. Loved it!
