Maryam | 9 comments Hi everybody. I remember reading a historical romance that the heroine in it was genteel but had become poor because her father is gambler I think? The father doesn't love his daughter. The heroine is very kind and treats her few servants very good. I remember there being a butler/valet that is very old. I think her father loses heroin's home and the hero wins it I think and comes to the estate and slowly falls in love with heroine. I remember towards the end of the story heroin's father abducts her.
I would appreciate any help. Thanks.
P.S: Sorry for any mistakes. English is not my first language.

Maryam, what year did you read this book? This will help narrow down the search.

Can you tell us more about the hero - how he meets the heroine, rich/poor, profession/skills/interests, family/friends, etc.?

Hi Kris. I've read it last year. The hero was a man that had come back from war, recently. I thinks he was a lord or something like that and rich. But the only other thing that I can remember from the story is a scene when heroine tells the old butler/valet to be the hero's valet, and hero is going to refuse but the heroine makes him accept so the old man's feelings aren't hurt and in his room the valet is so slow and his hands are shaky that the hero asks him to just polish his boots. Heroine's home belonged to her mother before her death and It is in heroine's name, but somehow her father has taken hold of it. Sorry, that is all I can remember.

Annamariah | 292 comments This sounds vaguely familiar (especially the old servant and boot polishing part), so I might have read it, but so far I can't say for sure. Maybe you'd like to take a look at the "historical romance" shelf on my profile and see if any of the titles look familiar?

By the way, do you have any memory of the cover? I know that in all probability it is the heroine and hero embracing, but maybe the colour of her dress or something might help narrow down the search? :D

I've checked out half of your historical romance shelf, and none seems to be the one. I will check the rest out too tomorrow. Girl! you have a lot of books. : D
I think I remember that the first time they met, he came to her home in the country and they have never before.

Annamariah | 292 comments Too bad :( I've been trying to think, but while all the events you describe seem familiar, I haven't been able to identify a book where they are all combined at once. I hope someone else will know the book you are looking for!

Thank you very much. I appreciate the brain ache you conflicted on yourself to remember the book. I have serious brain injury from it. :D
