(No worries, wild ride huh?:) )"Athena would be proud to see one so collected she could read. What book?" He asked curiously. He himself loved to read. Especially manuals on how things worked, or schematics and such.
((Yeah I've got an exam tomorrow on history XD so I've got so much going on XD)She smiled and showed him the cover. "Just some myths and facts about Greek,Egyptian and Norse gods." She told.
(Oooo, good luck. I have a big English exam on the 3rd and 4th. RIP us.)"Smart, I can't think of anything better to read. I'm glad I've got someone with knowledge on my side." He said. He draped his arm around her and traced hearts on her arms as he drove. When they were a half hour out he started noticing stone limbs and gears littering the desert. I guess we're in the right spot he thought.
((Haha I've got history on 2nd and 8th then psychology on 9th and 16th. Ugh I'm just hoping for it to be done with quickly.))She smiled at his touch and continued reading,sometimes reading out facts and myths to him as well. "Did you know Athena's children are born from her thoughts. That's pretty 'mind-blowing' " she laughed at her pun as they reached their destination. "Ooooh statues graveyard,very creepy.."she laughed nervously.
(Good luck! I wish you well! And feel free to message me about psychology. It's a specialty of mine:) )He laughed at her pun. "I think that's pretty interesting. Were almost there, when we arrive stay close. Machines can be unpredictable and I don't know exactly what we are walking into." He warned her. Though, he was confident, machines were his specialty.
((Really? I love psychology. Do you have any favourite topic from it?))She nodded and stayed close to him and if she wanted to explore,she'd stay in close proximity. "This place is amazing..in an odd and unusual way..I like it!"She said as she touched a statue,admiring the work.
(I find the Stanford prison experiment fascinating! Message me if you wanna talk more about it, I love psych.)"Careful, some of these statues have buttons and I don't think we should touch much. Look for the oldest statue that you can find. We want the first one cast down from the work shops." He said to Selene.
((Ooh I like that one too.))She nodded and walked around,careful not to touch any statue and accidentally set off a trap or something.
Castiel walked slowly, looking for an old and rusted statue, but he couldn't find one. Then it hit him, "it will be a Marble statue! I'm sure of it! The Greeks loved that kind of stone and my dad adores its qualities." He explained. He kept looking, stepping over parts and heads.
She heard him and started skipping all statues until she saw a marble one. "Uh cas...is this the one you're talking about?" It was a pretty tall statue and it looked old enough.
He observed the statue she had pointed out. "Hmmm, let me take a closer look. Stay here a second while I go look please." He said. Castiel picked his way across the other statues, man there were so many! When he got there, he examined the statue. It certainly looked old enough. He layer his hands on it and felt an intricate working of gears, levers, and pulleys underneath. There was a button on the boot of the statue and a lever on the back of the neck that would allow him access to the programming board. He opened the back of the statues head and set to work re routine and typing in code with his pocket encoder he had brought. When he had finished, he said a quick prayer to Hephaestus and said, "here we go" tapping the button on the boot.
Selene stood there in anticipation of what was to come, she saw Castiel work his magic on the statue and after a quick prayer he slid down. She heard some gears move,and click into place. Then the statue moved and she jumped back a little. It straightened up and stood still.
He had programmed it to obey and command the first voice it heard so he spoke quickly "obey me, Castiel, child of Hephaestus, God of the tinkerers. Gather your kin and friends and follow me, staying hidden from mortals and enemies until I tell you differently." He commanded, his voice ringing out around the grave yard. The automation stood still for a full minute then seemed to register what he said and he issued a series of clicks and whistles. And within seconds the whole grave yard came to life.
Selene tensed up a little and held Castiel's arm,moving closer to him. "This is so amazing yet so creepy at the same time." She breathed. "Also how have these statues stayed hidden from mortals for so long?" She asked.
The statues were all moving now, following his instructions, hiding. Within minutes not a statue was in sight. "Well, I guess the mist. It's a secluded spot and it feels like the mist is strong here. I think the only reason we got in was because of our marbles." He was surprised by the stealth of the statues as they walked back to the car. He didn't see a single one.
(I'm going to track now. Back in a bit.)
"This is so amazing." She remarked. "Hah nate doesnt stand a chance now!" She vrinned as they followed the statues to their truck.((Okk i might be asleep tho))
(Sleep tight) And once again they were on the road. Selene fell asleep and he drove well into the night. When he got tired, he roused Selene to take a turn driving while he slept. He hoped the statues were keeping up.
(Nvm studies got me wide awake. :/))She smiled and took the stirring wheel as he slept. She kept checking to see if the statues were following and they were. Everything seemed just fine so she kept driving.
(I feel you)He was roused by Selene letting him know they were close. He sat up groggily. "Let's find a place for you to sleep, when it comes to the final standoff, I don't want you snoozing." He joked.
"Oh believe me, I'd be anything but sleeping. I cant wait to meet nate and destroy him." She said as she stopped the car to rest for a while.
Selene got some rest while castiel put some contraptions together from spare parts. A net trap, a demigod grenade, and a special trick he literally stuffed up his sleeve. He watched Selene sleep, hoping it wouldn't be the last time he saw her so peaceful.
She dreamed about success and victory against nate and kronos. She felt the satisfaction and smiled In her sleep. When she at last woke up she had been well rested.
"Alrighty, into town we go then he said." Let's get this over with. He put the truck in gear and they rode towards LA. The prophecy told us to not expect him to show. I wonder if it means that he will shroud himself in magic. Let's have our marbles ready." he said putting his into his pocket. He then felt the necklace and picture in his other pocket. Their feel comforted him.
"Yeah let's see,Nate upto his dirty little tricks.." she muttered. As they drove closer to their destination she Keith a serious face and the urge to start exploring until she found Nate immediately. He was going to stay close to Castiel in case anything happened.
When they got to downtown LA, the sight that met them was horrifying. The mortals were mindlessly wandering around, a purple light in their eyes. "Oh gods, what the hell did Nate do?" He groaned. An entire city put under a trance. This had to be a mix of magic and kronos's time abilities. He shot a worried glance at Selene and hopped out of the car.
"Oh no...no no no." She groaned as she saw the people walk around like zombies. "What Is Nate upto?" She wondered out loud as a person nearby kept walking towards a lake. She realised he wouldn't stop and if he fell he wouldn't probably be able to swim. She ran and stopped him before he could fall in but when she glanced over,she saw a lot of bodies already at the bottom of the clear lake water. She gasped and put a hand on her mouth.
Castiel watched with a grim face. "Cmon, let's get to the center of town. I have a feeling he will be there." He said, gently taking her hand and leading her away from the grizzly scene. They had their marbles in their mouths now, ready for anything as they made their way to the center of town.
She nodded and let him drag her away from the scene. "Nate is causing so many deaths and it doesn't bother him?" She asked feeling uber disgusted by Nate.
"We don't know what Kronos has done to him. I just can't believe anyone would allow this to happen. It's so evil." And as he rounded a corner, he froze and then jumped back behind the building they just rounded, taking Selene with them. "Oh jeez, that is one big army." He said to her.
She pressed against the wall so they wouldn't be seen. "Do you think se can win?" She asked,hope in her eyes but dread in her heart. "What is something happens and the statues malfunction?"
"That's not what I'm worried about, I just need to give a command via my pocket coder. Or yell out instructions. I am worried about what kind of magic Nate will throw at us. Or even worse, if we need to face Kronos. But... I think... I think I have a plan." He said a smile creeping onto his face.
"Oh no,I know that smile." She smirked. "Whatcha upto cas?" She asked,looking at him,knowing he had a good plan forming.
"Ok, here it is, I figure the statues can take the army, easy. But the problem is taking Kronos and Nate. What If we make it seem like the magic is affecting us, like we believe it. He will think he has already won. He will be too wrapped up in the thought of victory as we run around pretending to be occupied with his magic and when we see our opportunity, we strike. He won't see it coming. It could work." Said Castiel. "He quickly assembled a wind up toy and said. "Your gonna have to trust me." And he set his wind up toy walking toward the army. When it got there it stopped and from a speaker came Castiels voice, "statues! Attack the enemy! Attack the enemies!" And with that, an army of statues flooded the avenue.
"I hope this work." She said as she looked at the battle scene unfolding in front of her eyes as the statues attacked the army. "Ok cas,I trust you,let's do this."
"Alrighty, follow me." He lead her through an ally, their weapons drawn. The battle had taken the enemy by surprise and they were floundering and trying to regroup. Castiel wanted to get behind the army so they could get to Nate and Kronos right away. "I hope you are wearing that armor shirt I gave you, it could get nasty out there" he said just before they rounded the last corner. And when they came out, there they saw Nate, but no Kronos. Then he turned, and gave them an evil smile.
She was so glad she had seen it last moment and worn it under her shirt. She nodded. "Yeah I wore it." She said as they rounded the corner and stood face to face with the evil demigod Nate. (Could u play Nate?)
(Sure) Nate opened his mouth but what came out sounded deeper than it should have. "Demigods, you are too late. Look how easy I was able to conquer a single city. And an amazing city at that. Do you know why?"
At this Castiel widened his eyes in horror. "Oh god, oh god. He's going to use the entrance to the underworld here somehow. I totally forgot about that. What are you going to do!" He screamed at Nate.
Nate laughed and replied, "I am going to unleash some of the worst monster from the underworld of course. Let the armies of hell come forth and aid in bathing olympus in blood." He said watching horror creep across the two heros faces.
Selene watched in horror as it fixed its eyes on hers and then came the visions.She heard Nates prophecy but she couldn't make sense of it. Then she saw a vision of her falling to the ground as her blood seeped into the ground,something clicked and the gates of the underworld opened. Then the vision shifted to Castiel who was crying and as his tear hit the ground,something awoke in him and he rose with a fury in his eyes and then it all went blurry,the vision started moving too fast but she saw Nate lying dead on the ground.
What she made from the vision was that her blood was needed for the gates to be opened but if a drop of Castiel's tear escaped his eyes,it would result in nates destruction. Maybe the Gods would interfere,no one knows.
She was standing there trembling as Nate grinned and the proceeded to move towards Castiel slowly. She realised what his plan was. He would kill Castiel and then kill Selene,but something told her Nate didn't know Selene knew about Castiel's vision too. He only showed her,her own vision.
Nate advanced slowly on him, then all of a sudden, there were ten nate's surrounding him. Crap. He put his marble in his mouth and the forms flickered, only one remained solid the others hazy. He sliced through some misty ones playing along with Nate. He heard him cackle. Then the real Nate raised a sword intending to slice him from the left, but Castiel moved away as he swung making it look like luck.
Selene stood there,still paralysed. She used all her will power to move and when she did she saw so many nates and then she placed the marbles in her mouth. There was only one Nate who was about to slice Castiel. She moved there and next to Castiel. "What do you want Nate?!"
"You know what I want. You know my prophecy. And I will do anything to avenge those upstart gods! Even if it means killing you!" He snarled. Hearing this Castiel felt a surge of anger and catching Nate off guard he scored a slash across his leg. "Knock it off Nate. We don't wanna do this, but believe me we will." He yelled
"You will do no such thing!" She said. "Nate I do know your prophecy and I know all of it. So killing me won't benefit you,in fact it's gonna welcome your own demise. So if sacrificing my life means your destruction I will gladly do so." She told him. "Or you could just stop all this foolishness and save yourself from possible doom."
Castiel was floored by what he was hearing. "Selene, you are not sacrificing yourself! What is going on! What are you talking about!?" He said, confusion running wild across his face.Nate didn't know what Selene had meant but he was going through with his plan no matter what. "I'm winning" and with that, he lunged for Selene with his sword, aiming for an artery on her leg.
She jumped out of his way but she did get a little scratch. "You think the Gods don't care?" She cried as she tried to dodge his knife. "They do Nate!" She tried to convince him as she caught another guy eyeing Castiel. "Cas! Jump out of the way!" She yelled just before the other guy lunged for him. "Do whatever it takes to stay alive Castiel,if you die he'll truly win." She said hoping that he would do as she said. "Just trust me!"
He was confused by what Selene had said, but he had no intentions of dying. He went off in a flurry of battle with this new demigod. He was good but. Or quick. So Castiel opted for short, fast strikes and he managed to disarm him and left a nasty wound on his chest. Before he could think about helping Selene, he engaged another enemy, taking him out in less than a minute.
Selene growled at Nate. "You're despicable you know that." She kicked him in the chest and then managed to run away from him before he caught upto her again. "I will not stop fighting you hate,you won't get away with it."
He saw Selene disengage Nate and so he fought his way through a group of demigods and statues to her. When he reached her, he yelled over the noise, "what should we do? We need a new plan! Ya got anything!?"
Selene smiled and got comfy in the seat,and started reading her book again. "I bet Athena will be happy right now,we're headed to destroy an evil demigod and a massive Titan and I'm sitting here reading a book." She laughed.
