3*** Very disappointed in this book. I guess that I expected it to live up to all the hype and it did until about 80% in. Then it just nose-dived for me. SIGH!

Member Choosing: I, Lisa Kay , have been a GoodReads member since June, 2009, and a participant of Happily Ever After Café since February, 2011. My mother has passed, but her younger sister, my Aunt Jean - at age 89 - is still with us. I thought I’d dedicate this May challenge to her in honor of Mother’s Day. We’ve done many a jigsaw puzzle together up at her beautiful lake home, surrounded by her hundreds & hundreds of decorative plates and abundant flowers. I hope to be there again this Mother’s Day.
COLORS: Blue
MAY THEMES: (1) 1. Mother’s Day: Read a book where the character is a mother or becomes one. (2) Mysteries or Biographies: One of my aunt’s favorite authors is Sue Grafton; she loves a good who-done-it! She also ready bios. So, read books from either of those two genres. (3) Pizza Parlor or Antique Shop: Aunt Jean’s favorite jobs where when she owned a pizza parlor and an antique shop. Read a book with a setting in either of those two places. (4) “Let me get my hat!”: Aunt Jean is always saying this when asked if she would like to go anywhere. Read a book with a hat on the cover. (5) Shoes, shoes, shoes!: Good Gravy Beans! This woman loves shoes; so much so, the family calls her “Imelda” Jean. Read a book featuring a shoe prominately on the cover. (6) Pygmalion Theme: Her favorite movie is “My Fair Lady.” Read a book with a pygmalion (make-over) theme. Listopia has a good place to start with their Ugly Duckling to Swan: Pygmalion Romance list. (7) Gardening or Gambling : Her favorite passtime is gardening. And she likes to pull a slot machine on occassion, too. Read a book where someone loves flowers. Or where someone gambles or takes a risk on something.
ITEMS: May’s Birthstone is the emerald. Flowers are the Lily-of-the-Valley. Zodiac Signs are Taurus and Gemini. Other items are kittens, birds, puzzles of any kind, hat, shoes, musical notes, lake, wind chimes, someone dancing, decorative plate, hibiscus, and salvias!
