I wish it were as well! I have a difficult time finding those who enjoy YA historical. That is, books that have some value, not just the typical love story. Thanks for your input.Leslie
Upside Down in a Laura Ingalls Town
YA Historical Fiction is hard to find now. The trend is for fantasy/dystopian fiction and when I do see historical fiction, it sounds rather silly. However, with the popularity of the musical Hamilton, I've seen a few books about him pop up. Maybe we'll get more Revolutionary War YA historical fiction?
I wish, QNPoohBear. But it's really, really hard to sell YA historicals to publishers. Ask my agent. :(

if you mention Jane Austen and Georgette Heyer it helps. I've seen a few Regency set YA novels pop up recently. The large majority of the YA books I've seen at the local bookstores are dystopian and contemporary think about the issues of today./designed to align with school curriculum. Fictional biographies appear once in awhile too.
The nominees for RI Teen Book award include an alternate Waterloo featuring dinosaurs (!), 2 novels set in 1970s, 2 WWII set novels, 1 post-war (1956) out of 22 nominees.
