ah, Tablets (Amazon Fire is one) and computers have backlit blue light problems. Kindles (B&W) are front lit with the same LED lights that you might use in the lights in your house so it's more like a reading light shining on them.

Christine Mathieu | 583 comments I just finished reading my first and last e-book (The Book Case by Nelson DeMille) and it was pretty frustrating how often the text became black. My husband had to find me the text about 20 times this afternoon as it kept disappearing.
More than ever I prefer hardcover books.

I find a lot of the "golden age detective" stories. Not all that I seek but a lot.

There is a setting on later kindles (not sure of the version) that has a setting for this and it is called Blue Shade. Helps with the blue light issue. [ranton] Why do they not make this easy and consistent [rantoff]

For audios, several libraries do have them in their digital assets section. I was lucky and my metro area allowed apply online during the pandemic for reciprocal library cards so can now access 6 libraries. If you can, get card(s) and access Cloudlibrary, Overdrive, and Hoopla. Hoopla in particular has quite a bit of "old" material.

Christine Mathieu | 583 comments Thank you all, will check it out.

So far I was only familiar with ILL (Inter Library loan) meaning my public library here in Worcester has access to all other public libraries in MA. They even got me books from the Library of Congress in Washington, D. C., and one from Scotland.
