Ed | 48 comments How many hours a day do you read? Does it depend on the day? And where do you like to read? Anywhere? Or a great chair, in bed, outside?

message 3: by Hannah (new)

Hannah Kelly (herfictionalfelicities) I read a lot I think, at least compared to people around me. I read a little bit pretty much every day, sometimes more sometimes less, but at the very least nearly every night before bed. I find it relaxing.

message 4: by Leshawn (new)

Leshawn | 25 comments I have different books for different places and times. I have my morning book that I read while my bunny jumps around me and tries to convince me that he is more interesting than any book. I have the book I carry in my purse or backpack (that one is always a paperback and small) and read whenever I can steal a few moments...no lunch date, waiting at the bank or store, early for a meeting. I have my car book for when I am stuck in the car for some reason and have a few minutes. I have my bed book that I read before I go to sleep. As you can imagine, some of my books take ages to read!
That said, sometimes I love a book so much that all the rules go out the door and I carry it around like Christopher Robin did Winnie the Pooh. I don't stop until I finish. Those books are my favorites! The ones I recommend to others and read again!

Sofi Collodel (sophiie91) | 3 comments I read obsessively haha

message 6: by Katie (new)

Katie | 1 comments I read about one - two hours a day. As long as I have pillows to support my knees and back, I can read anywhere, but I generally read on my couch or in my bed. I have tried to read on my lunch break, but don’t like juggling a book and food, so I stick to reruns on Netflix.

Does anyone ever worry they read too much instead of doing other things?

I do sometimes worry I read too much instead of doing other things...like my Masters work...or developing other hobbies. :)
Whoops.

Leshawn | 25 comments Kathryn,
Recent read recommendations: "Death by Toilet Paper" by Donna Gephart and "Big Little Lies" by Liane Moriarty
Recommendation that not many people have read: "Mrs. Stevens Hears the Mermaids Singing" by May Sarton
Zaniest book that I love to recommend and re-read: "Night of the Avenging Blowfish: A Novel of Covert Operations, Love and Lunch Meat" by John Welter
Have fun, LeShawn

message 10: by Mae (new)

Mae (wormsreviews) It truly does depend on the day, sometimes I can just sit in bed all day and read. The location changes also, sometimes I am in my bed, other times I am outside on the porch. I think it really all about how my mood is playing out that day, oh and the weather.

message 11: by Elizabetine (new)

Elizabetine | 1 comments if i really like a book and i don't have much going on then i will spend a few hours a day reading it. Though when i am in college its hard to fit in a leisure book.

message 12: by Becky (new)

Becky Lu (crazy4rach2) | 8 comments Tried to read 1 book/month since I do work....

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

My goal is to read 50 books a year. I usually fall short of the goal and this year I am way behind. How fast I read depends on the book. If it's something I really look forward to reading and get caught up in the story, I find that I read much faster. If the book is something that is chosen by others, such as books for a discussion group, I generally read it at a slower rate. It usually takes me from a few days to a week to read an average length novel, even if the book is awesome. Then I don't want it to end!

message 14: by Lottie (new)

Lottie | 3 comments I typically have one audio book going for the car or long walks and a hard copy book. So far this year, I've read about 50 books. Sometimes I will start a book that is just hard to get into and it will take me a month or two to get through it. Other times, I'll read one in a few days.
I have a toddler, so I don't typically get to have all the reading time I use to (and I don't count reading her books to her as me reading books, or I've read about 1000 books this year. Lol), but I make reading a priority for my mental well being.

message 15: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahz3) | 1 comments Everyday it's a perpetual likeness of reading that made me want to read more and in great quantity !

message 16: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (veronica19) | 1 comments It varies. I tend to read between 30 and 60 books per year, it depends on how the year went. Some months I read like crazy and others I barely do. It depends on the book, time available and many other things.

message 17: by Elise (new)

Elise (hey_elise) | 2 comments I like to read a couple hours before bed, in bed. If it is the summer time I like to read by the pool. Sometimes I get in slumps where I don't have as much time to read, or cannot get into anything.

message 18: by Lulufrances (new)

Lulufrances | 2 comments I try to read 50-100 pages on average per day.

message 19: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jiffetha) | 1 comments I am always reading at least three books, and keep them handy at places and times when I can take a few pre iota moments to read. I just enjoy the escape and learning and mental exercise of it.

Same.
I can't spend a day without reading.

message 24: by Maja (new)

Maja (majas_buchblog) | 2 comments I mostly read every day, but it heavily depends on the book on how much. My reading challenge are 40 books each year, so that’s my goal for every year. Sometimes I read more, but the 40 are my minimum
and my favorite reading spot is either my bed or the couch :)

ashlee! | 6 comments i try to read everyday in bed, it’s a very gd habit i must say.

message 32: by Elle (new)

Elle I try to read daily. I used to read a lot when I was younger, but now I'm finishing 12th grade so I just manage to read around a chapter or so.
But sometimes I fall into a reading slump where I don't read for weeks or I get these random bursts of motivation where I finish a book in one sitting.

message 33: by Tricia May (new)

Tricia May (lovelylittlereads) | 3 comments I read quite a lot. I am usually in the middle of multiple books at any given time and, I have them in different formats so I'm never really without one. I almost always have one audiobook, one Ebook, and one physical book that I'm reading. That way, if I'm in the car I can listen to a book, stuck waiting in line or something like that I can pull up my Ebook on my phone...etc. Sometimes it'll get a little overwhelming and I have to slow down but, this is what works for me for the most part!

message 34: by Savie (new)

Savie (sav_reads) | 2 comments currently in a reading slump but I usually read 1 - 4 books a month when I'm not in a slump. It also depends on the month and what I have going on since I'm currently a high school junior

Art hoe (obsessedhun) | 11 comments i try to read 10 books a month. that only works when I'm reading books i actually like

Emma Sedgwick | 6 comments i normally read 2 books a month when i’m busy with school!!

message 39: by est (new)

est | 19 comments I read anywhere I can: the train, home, when I’m done in class, literally wherever. This quote ” a reader lives a thousand lives before he dies, said Jojen. The man who never reads lives only one.” Gives me sooo much motivation as well

message 40: by Beatriz (new)

Beatriz Leite (beatrizleite) | 9 comments It is kind of difficult for me to read when I have classes because my major is very hardworking (in the health area) so I try to read everyday in the train :)
