Michelle (mich2689) | 484 comments Hey guys,

Penguin Random House is having a readathon from April 17-23 (sorry I found out a little late). You can read excerpts from a collection of books, some of which haven't even been released, and then based on how many minutes you read, Penguin will donate books to Save the Children. It's a win-win. You get to try out new books and children will get books!

Here's the link.

Happy reading!

°~Amy~° (amybooksit) I started this yesterday. I have found a few new books to add to my tbr and donated a bunch of books in the process. Fun!

I know right? I get to contribute to society while reading at home. I've added a few books to my wishlist already.

Kristi Does anyone know if it somehow times you in order for it to count? Some excerpts that say 20 minutes, but it will only take 10 minutes to read and then I move on to the next one. If it doesn't time you, then what is to stop people from clicking every single book?

°~Amy~° (amybooksit) It doesnt time you. I think it is a guess of how long it will take you. The whole thing is a giant advertisement for Penguin. We read the excerpts, like the books and buy them, and/or share what we read on twitter and people there buy it because we have "recommended" it. I assume they figure the positive exposure for Penguin will be more than cover the cost of the free books, even if we dont actually read the excepts.
