message 2: by Patricia (new)

Patricia Was it worth losing so many fans over Allegiant? Why did you decide to make the book about Tobias instead of Tris? Will you be upset if the screenwriters of the film series decide to change the end of your book?

message 3: by Allison (new) - added it

Allison Hi Veronica. I love the Divergent series. I just wanted to know why you chose to end Allegiant the way you did. Do you wish you'd ended it differently because it made so many fans upset? Also, how do you feel about the movie and what do you wish had been done a little differently?

message 4: by Katie (new)

Katie Finlan Clancy I had a really hard, emotional (!!) time with Tris' death. Was it a hard for you to decide to write it into Allegiant or did you know all along that the series would end with her demise?

message 5: by Katie (new)

Katie Finlan Clancy Does your new book about Tobias tell stories about his like before or after the Divergent series?

message 6: by Cloudywitha (new)

Cloudywitha Chanceofcupcakes Hi, what book did you most enjoy writing? Or if not a favourite book but perhaps favourite part? Thank you.

message 7: by Dramapuppy (new)

Dramapuppy How do you feel about the reaction you're getting to the end of Allegiant?

Is there anything you wish you could change about the series?

Do you ever go back and read your books?

Do you like the covers?

What kinds of themes are messages are hidden in Allegiant?

Why did you write the series/what inspired you?

Amanda Lowther Did anything surprise you while writing from Tobias' perspective?
Has the series taken any paths that you hadn't originally planned?
Did you come up with any other backstories for other characters from the series?
Do you plan to write anything else in the future?
Thank you! :)

message 9: by Emi (new)

Emi Are you working on writing any boks currently, and if you are can you give us a hint what its about?

If you could talk to any of the characters of divergent what would you say?

How drastically would the revolution have changed if abnegation was attacking erudite?

message 10: by Phyllis (new)

Phyllis Why did you give Tobias 2 unloving parents? He seems very strong after such a rough start in life.
Also did Tobias regret wiping Peters memory? It seemed as though Peters old personality came through anyway and he already had made progress in changing himself.
Finally I know that people always put themselves in boxes and often limit their friendships to those similar to them. Was this idea part of your thought behind the factions?
I enjoyed the books very much.

Phyllis

message 11: by Laura (new)

Laura Were you happy with how the movie came out, and if not, what would you change?

message 12: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly Rodriguez Does Tobias & Christina become a pair ? The ending was unexpected did you ever have second thoughts about having a different ending for the book ? if you could one of the five factors in divergent what would you choose ?

message 13: by Jarvis (new)

Jarvis Hey I finished Allegiant and I was wondering what happens like after the book ends? Does 4 and Christina fall in love? yes I read the epilogue btw. Just wondering. Thanx.

message 14: by Georgia (new)

Georgia Coward-smith Where did your inspiration for the story between the characters come from? I love the chemistry betwen Tobias and Christina as well as Four and Christina and it's getting me all anxious trying to figure out who will end up with who! I absolutely love your books and can't wait until the others come out!
Georgia

message 15: by emily :) (new)

emily :) How did you come up with this world and story line and all the characters and the factions? Do you have a certain inspiration? Ps I love you and all your books!!!
Emily

message 16: by Morgan (new)

Morgan Writes How did you come up with the storyline for the Divergent series? Cassie Clare said she had a friend who was a tatoo artist, and so the runes became a part of The Mortal Instruments. What was it for you?

Grace I know most of these questions are about Allegiant and here's one more:
Why didn't Peter go into the drugged room instead of Caleb as he was going to loose his memory anyway? I am sure that Peter could remember a few numbers.

Lauren Veronica,
I'm such an avid reader and am constantly finishing books where one of my favorite character dies. Because I have felt that I have bonded with that character so much I feel like, I too have dealt with the lost of a loved one. When your writing and you have to kill of one of the characters you love does it have a big effect on you? Have you ever wished to take back a death?
Lauren

Lauren Divergent is probably the best and worst thing that has happened to me, and I know there are many more people out there who like I have, feel in love fell the series. You know there are many, many people out there who love you and you have made a difference in their lives. What do you have to say to those who feel like that's what they want to do someday? They want to write something so amazing, but don't know if they are willing to follow through.

Lauren Hi Veronica,
Fist off, you don't know who I am exactly but I love you and you books. Okay, next were you ever fangirl of some sort?? And if so, tell us a story!
Thank you,
Lauren

message 21: by Ting Z. (new)

Ting Z. I know Allegiant came out less than a year ago, but do you have plans for a new book very soon? If you do, could you please tell us something about it?

message 22: by Celeste (new)

Celeste Are you going to write any new books in the future? If so, will they be dystopian / post apocalyptic like Divergent? Love your books! :)

message 23: by Elaine (new)

Elaine Roth Hi Veronica! What was the most important lesson that you learned about writing between books #1 and #2? Is there anything you would do differently? Also, did you have the entire trilogy planned before you even started writing Divergent or was each successive book a surprise? Thank you!

Zara (Foxing Pages) OH MY GOD HI VERONICA I LOVE YOU AND YOUR BOOKS SO SO SO SO MUCH. i have some qs for you:

#1 are you planning to write new books in the future? if yes will they be another dystopian series? (oh god i hope so)

#2 do you have any plan to visit indonesia? we would like to attend your book signing here omg (pls make my dreams come true i want to meet you SO bad)

THANK YOU
zara

Rabecka When I started reading divergent, I knew right away that it was different than other dystopian books. Unlike other books, the reader had so much invested in the characters outcomes. It seems like you gave a lot of your flat characters back story's and that helped us understand them. My question is, how do you fit those types of things into your books, and how is it that your writing gives us such a huge bond with the characters.

Than you,
Rabecka

message 26: by Dramapuppy (new)

Dramapuppy How do you feel about how popular the series is? Did you expect that to happen?

message 27: by Miriam (last edited Jun 12, 2014 08:45AM) (new)

Miriam Hi Veronica i love the Divirgent series but i was wondering, did you end Tris's life so that Four and Christina could become a pair or did you just want your story to be different? Did you know your novel would become the next Twilght and Hunger Games is that why you decided not to have a happy ending? If so why did you decide to end Tris's life instead of Four's i mean they're both a huge part of the book? Why Tris? Did you know your fans would react the way they did to the ending is that why you made the Four stories so that your fans understand why you killed Tris and what happens afterward?
Thank you,
Miriam

message 28: by O (new) - rated it 5 stars

O When I read the book I noticed that since it is in the future the currency is diffrent. How does the currency work with the points and all?

The BFF Book Reviewers (theigbookreviewpage) Did you know all along that you wanted to kill off Tris? I've heard you talk about this, but it still puzzles me. As a writer do you change what you were going to write in the process?

message 30: by Eva (new)

Eva When do the book of Four come out in Belgium?

message 31: by Kaitlyn (new)

Kaitlyn Alejandro Veronica,
I just first want to start off by saying you were really brave for writing the end of Allegiant the way you did and by making a big decision for the series. When the book came out did you feel like you wanted to change the ending? If so, why?

message 32: by Jodi (new)

Jodi I loved Divergent, and I'm anxiously awaiting the Four stories. I am also a young writer. I was wondering what made you end Allegiant the way you did? Have you ever wondered if it was the right choice? How do you deal with all the negative comments from fans over the way you ended your book?

message 33: by Stefani (new) - added it

Stefani Sanchez Veronica,

I loved this series. I was basically comatose for weeks after the ending of Allegiant. I understand the why (though I want to deny it), but I felt we were left to speculate the finality of everything. We had to fight through to this 'better' world (hopefully). yet we didn't get to see what the results of her sacrifice were. Is this information in Four or are we just left to our own designs? Please let us know. Needing closure.

message 34: by Maham (new)

Maham The Divergent series was very successful, Congratulations.
What's next? Do you have any other new projects in the works?

Brenda I love the Divergent trilogy so much but I was wondering: Did you write these short stories to soften the blow of Tris' death? Because it's definitely working on me ;) Also, do you plan on writing about what happens in the dystopian world after the epilogue of Allegiant?

message 36: by Dramapuppy (new)

Dramapuppy It is easier to write from Tris's perspective or Four's perspective?

Do you think you could have done what Tris did at the end of Allegiant?

message 37: by Lia (new) - rated it 3 stars

Lia I really enjoyed the whole Divergent Trilogy, and I'm excited that there will be another book kinda like a "behind the scenes" story in Tobias/Four's perspective.

Was it much easier writing Insurgent and Allegiant, compared to Divergent, since you don't have to do so much world building?

What was the purpose in writing "Four: A Collection"? Was it because you wanted to go back to the divergent world?

Thank you so much for writing these books; it has been an honor reading these stories, this world. I will treasure these books for a long time. :)

Trini I really loved the whole trillogy, so thank you so much for letting us into that amazing world you created <3
I was wondering how do you imagine Tobias in like twenty years after Tris' death. Will he have a girlfriend/wife? PLEASE ANSWER, that's all I want in my life :)
Sending you love from Argentina

Alison Dear Ms. Veronica Roth
I had a good time reading the series. I really love the whole Divergent thing. The story&character setting were just too amazing to be true. But I'm a little upset with Allegiant. Why did you let Tris and Uriah die?????? I know Tris is being selfless, but how can Caleb just give her the backpack and lets his sister die for the second time??? Isn't he suppose to be a good person in the end?? And I'm quite upset with Uriah. He is by far my favorite character because I love his optmistic view and him laughing about almost everything!!! How can he just die????
Anyways, sorry for being like this. I love your books!! Also, I'm curious about the books you're going to write about Four. Will it be in the past or future.
Still looking foward for your books!!

p.s. Forgive me if there are any grammer mistakes. I live in Taiwan and English is my second language after all.

message 40: by seidlady (new)

seidlady Dear Ms. Roth,

I really like your books, but I am curious about what happened afterward. What happened to Caleb and Cara? I would also like to know what happened to Chistina, Zeke, and Shauna. You are a great author!

message 41: by Archchenaa (new)

Archchenaa Uthayakumaran Given that the Divergent intwine both Tris' and Tobias' perspective, It is interesting that you do a side series called the "Four Collection." Why this name? On a side note, do you know the reason of Uriah not being in the movie? This takes away a sentimental value to the raid in the Alleigent. Especially to Christina. Are you planning to create a world where Four finds someone else? Or a parallel universe to the Divergent Series?

Sammy Meyerring Why did you decide to have Tris die at the end of Allegiant? And what gave you the inspiration to do so? And lastly, I was wondering if the next books you write, are going to be similar to the Divergent series? I have many questions but these are the most important to me. I have loved your writing and how detail these are! I am a great fan and I am looking forward to the future books you write! Thanks!

Alice Martins First of all, I would like to say that Divergent played a big part in my life in the book part. That is because your beautiful writing style and amazing characters got me back to reading YA and especially Dystopian novels. My question is about a character that stood out the most to me: Lynn. What inspired you to create such a strong and brave character that is LGBT in your book? Was it an outside reference? If so, who inspired you to create Lynn?
Thank you, your books hold a special place in my heart and in my bookshelf.

message 44: by T.J. (new)

T.J. Tantay Hey Veronica, how do you help yourself when you get Writer's Block? Do you read other books or ask a friend for advice? How did you come up with The Divegent Triology anyway?

message 45: by Elena (new) - added it

Elena I know in the back of Divergent you said that Four/Tobias was the easiest for you to created and write about. You explained that you could always tell what he was doing and sort of were at ease with writing with him.
Is there any character that you found very difficult to write about? One that was harder to decide his/her choices and determine his/her fate? One that didn't flow as easily into your story and you had to think loads about, one that you needed to re-edit over and over?
I'd love to know :)
I want to thank you for writing these books too. They made my day and I have read Divergent already 30 times and it has a personal spot under my pillow to read under my covers when I'm feeling down. Allegiant and Insurgent are on my night stand.
Thanks :)

message 46: by Erica (new)

Erica Hi Ms. Roth,
When I found out that a following series to divergent was coming out the ought Fours point of view I was thrilled! What inspired you to write a series through Fours point of view and were there any changes than how you originally wrote the story because of it being before he met Tris?

message 47: by Erica (new)

Erica Hi Ms. Roth, there's always something I have wondered about divergent and that was how you came up with the factions and how you decided that Tris the main character would be a part of abnegation instead of another faction? Thank you, I'm a huge fan!

message 48: by Brittany (new)

Brittany Koch How did you come up with the ideas for Tris and Tobias

message 49: by Rina (new)

Rina I really felt your characters come alive and when Tris died I sobbed like she was my best friend. Your ending was sad but beautiful and you are easily one of my favorite writers ever. My question is how did you come up with your characters and are there any tips to making them? Also if you are thinking of continuing the divergent story. I love your writing but I feel the ending was very strong and I hope you keep writing more books but I like the ending of this trilogy and kind of hope you leave it the way it is.

Kaite How did Veronica Roth know how to have Four's/Tobias personality? He is mysterious and charming at the same time. Why did you make Beatrice Prior die at the end of Allegiant. Are you planning on making other books similar to the Divergent series?
