I'm planning on reading them but not necessarily signing up for DQ questions. I don't think I'm that cerebral!

message 255: by Tori (new)

Tori Coulson I've finished at home. I'll add it to the finished thread when I get home as I can't work out links on my mobile. The book was 700 pages (please tell me listening counts too yeah. if not then I totally read it with my eyes) so I hope that's helpful with our points. if not I'm gonna move out

High Five for trying!

message 260: by K~Terror (new)

K~Terror (k-terror) | 5600 comments Third is awesome!!!

I haven't checked the status for a bit so that makes me very happy!

I do keep checking my shelf though to make sure my books are showing up since it seems 50/50 I have to go back and set the "read" date since it's not populating when I mark a book finished.

TOTALLY!!!! I'm an avid listener myself! Everything is more fun with a bud in... :D

VNerdbooks (v_nerdbooks) | 5079 comments I have a couple to add to the read thread, but one you need to add to your list K is Sawyer Bennett The Hard Truth About Sunshine, completely different to her usual smut fest books (which I was actually looking forward too lol) but it was lovely, had a bit of a sob in this one 😢

K~Terror (k-terror) | 5600 comments Emma - You rock!!!!

Just saw you out there volunteering for DQ's across the board ~
Woo Hoo!!!

message 266: by K~Terror (new)

K~Terror (k-terror) | 5600 comments I added one to the read thread for a book I finished today. There is only one edition in GR and there are no page numbers so I added a link to the 233 pages Amazon says this book has in the kindle format. Hopefully that is OK?

Those Who Lie by Diane Jeffrey

Sorry for being so completely flaky for this first couple of weeks, had a few issues IRL to deal with so I've not been on here as much.

I am back however so ready to rock and roll :o)

Emma (M) | 1777 comments I've finally gotten enough reading time to finish A Gentleman in Moscow and my gosh I just loved it. I would never in a million years have picked this book up to read so I am so grateful that it was a BOM during the TT challenge. I love finding unexpected gems like this

message 273: by TheBookishFairy (new)

TheBookishFairy (Lauren) Glad you enjoyed the book Emma. It's really nice when you pick up a book you wouldn't normally and then realise that you love it! I'm currently reading Strange the Dreamer as it is a BOTM (and I already had a copy waiting to be read) I just can keep up with the schedule though so annoyingly I can't participate in answering the DQ! Who else in the group is reading it? Are you enjoying it?

I will be starting it this week and am really looking forward to it. You can certainly take part in the DQs though, regardless of the schedule. You have a month after the start date to participate in answering the questions and you only need to answer three sets to get participation points - so if you answer a set as you read each section, you will only need to read half a book in the next few weeks to get your participation points :). People are still answering the DQs from the first BOM of the month.

message 275: by K~Terror (new)

K~Terror (k-terror) | 5600 comments I read that one, Lauren, and ended up liking it more than I expected! It looks like I'll have to keep an eye out for book two now... ;)

I'd like just to point out that it still goes by finish date. Book needs to be read within month of BOM start to earn points, not just do discussion of part of the book in that period and then finish book later.
You can't get any points until book is finished. ;)

message 277: by TheBookishFairy (new)

TheBookishFairy (Lauren) I'm still planning on finishing the book as I'm enjoying it and will certainly get it read in less than a month as I'm near enough half way through now. Was just panicking as I'm so far behind schedule. Good to know that I can answer questions after this week, it'll give me some time to actually think up answers! Thank you for the info guys!

I didn't realise that there was going to be a book coming out after Strange The Dreamer - I thought it was a stand alone!

Ghost in the Stacks ..sorry...I still shop in the kids section

Emma (M) | 1777 comments Venecia wrote: "Talking about boobs :-). I need some recommendations for sport bras for huge boobs."

Venecia, this might seem weird but Hot Milk (online) is a maternity and nursing bras company. However, even if you are not nursing or preggers their bras are really good and they go to higher sizes. I still wear mine and would continue to buy from them in the future even though I am well past that stage now. Not sure how big you need but it looks like their sports bras go to an E. I've got as high as a G from them in normal bras when pregnant. Anyway, just a thought if you can't find the right size elsewhere.

message 288: by TheBookishFairy (new)

TheBookishFairy (Lauren) I've got just under 200 pages left of Strange the Dreamer and it is really starting to pick up. But, I keep finding I need to take breaks from reading it. I'm not sure what is is but Laini Taylor's books always take me forever to read - I had the same problem with the Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy, even though I really enjoyed it. Has anyone else found they have this problem?

message 289: by Emma (M) (new)

Emma (M) | 1777 comments I'm only on the first couple of chapters so can't say yet, but she does do amazing world building, so maybe the density of her books require breaks?

message 290: by TheBookishFairy (new)

TheBookishFairy (Lauren) You're probably right Emma. Her books are just so full of information and imagery and rich language! Hope you're enjoying it though 😊

Emma (M) | 1777 comments I think A Gentleman in Moscow has been my favourite, but I've also enjoyed the several non-fiction books I've read this month
Killers of the Flower Moon by David Grann The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot The Climb Tragic Ambitions on Everest by Anatoli Boukreev
