I read this book within the last three years. The heroine i believe works with kids (i want to say social services) I dont remember what the hero does but i do remember him living with his siblings. When hero was younger her and his foster siblings escaped their foster dad who was abusive and hurt his foster sisters. The night they escaped the heros foster sister/bff Mia was beaten to death by foster dad. I feel like the social service lady that put him and the others with the foster dad was paid to look the other way. Hero and heroine meet. I remember she walked up to his door all nervous. She was alil judgy. Over time the hero and heroine become close and eventually fall in love. Hero feels like he knows her from the past. Eventually i don't remember the reason why but the foster dad comes into the picture again and reveals that the heroine is really Mia and that she was rescued by the neighbors and suffered from amnesia.
