Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments my brother got the beer can collection when i bolted at 17. don't know what happened to them. it was a huge collection. that was big then. a foster's lager can was a big prize. now you can buy them locally and drink them

message 102: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I remember those big Foster's cans. That stuff was really unique back in the day.

Michelle (luvrdn) | 501 comments What no Bud fans? My daddy was a loyal tall boy Budweiser drinkin, camels smokin, Dallas Cowboy lovin, guitar playin, House of New Orleans...o.k. I don't know where that came from. Love my daddy.

message 104: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) No disrespect to your daddy, Michelle ... honest ... but I can't go Budweiser. And you can't make me.

message 105: by [deleted user] (new)

No Budweiser here either, I grew up anti Bud. With Pabst, Schlitz, Blatz, Miller, Hamms, Potosi etc. who needed to support a beer from out of state.

Michelle (luvrdn) | 501 comments It's alright. It was one of those moments Larry, I don't even drink beer.I go with the hard cider myself.

Me, too!

message 109: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I've never had the pleasure. I'll look for some.

:::roots around in an imaginary refrigerator:::

Hmmm ... seems we're all out.

message 110: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (luvrdn) | 501 comments I will have to try that, I am stuck on Apple.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments There's a microbrewery in town, Fish Brewing Company, that makes pear cider, and you can get it on tap at their pub, The Fishbowl.

It's called Spire Draft Cider, and I've seen it in bottles at the grocery store, too. But, it's better on tap.

Pick me up on the way Larry.

message 114: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) You bet, Jim. Be ready to jump in on the fly as I hold the door open.

message 115: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (luvrdn) | 501 comments I will look for that while I'm out Jackie, thanks.

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments The Underground Pub has it on tap - Woodchuck Pear Cider. I don't go there often, but when I do, I almost always get at least one glass of pear cider.

In consideration of the fact that I'm only slightly a fan of certain pears (I like Red Bartletts and Bosc), it's a surprise I even bothered trying it. However, pear cider is divine - not as sweet as apple, cool, refreshing, bubbly, fragrant...

I thought you said you were going to hold the door open, not open it as I was jumping in. :-).

Timing IS everything, Jim!

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Huh. I never liked Budweiser either.

But pear cider sounds too much like a wimpy drink, like an appletini or something. Unless I visualize some old guy making the cider in a backwoods still.

message 120: by Félix (last edited Aug 05, 2009 02:29PM) (new)

Félix (habitseven) Sorry Jim.

:::drives around the block to make another pass, this time with the door open:::

message 121: by Heidi (last edited Aug 05, 2009 02:30PM) (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments Woodchuck Pear Cider's bottle will kick your bottle's butt any day. It's NOT wimpy! It's not.

It's not.

message 122: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments It looks somewhat acceptable, I must agree.

message 123: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Woodchucks are our friends, folks. Yup.

:::looks for an opener:::

OK, I got my bike helmet on this time.

message 125: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I guess I really could stop.

:::considers it:::

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments And if fella enjoys an appletini, what's wrong with that, I'd like to know!

What's in an appletini, anyways?

message 127: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments Apple flavored vodka - laaaaame.

Skyy Vanilla, on the other hand... :)

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Okay, if YOU say so, Heidi.

message 129: by Heidi (last edited Aug 05, 2009 02:44PM) (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments Absolut has the corner on the flavored vodkas market. Absolutely, they do. Skyy Vanilla is superior to all, though.

message 130: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments According to the Skyy site, an appletini is made with 2 oz Skyy vodka, 1 oz sour apple liqueur, splash of lemon-lime soda

Mix Vodka and sour apple liqueur in shaker filled with ice. Shake and serve in a cocktail glass. Add a splash of lemon lime soda and garnish with a green apple wedge.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Hey, that doesn't sound bad at all!

message 132: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments Definitely different from the apple flavored vodka...

I'm sad I missed it too.

But I'll say this: In SFO this spring I had a nice pint of pear cider. mmmmm.

message 134: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (luvrdn) | 501 comments We don't have Pear cider at our local store. I will have to settle for my Hard Apple Woodchuck, for now.
Has anyone ever tried Absinth?

message 135: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Is that the stuff that makes the heart grow fonder?

message 136: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (luvrdn) | 501 comments Very good Larry.

message 137: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments one would think....from this thread.....that this is an AA group thread

you guys just like to drink it seems. even though you may not like something you at least have already tried it. a TC party would turn into a mosh pit quickly especially if King Dinosaur was onstage
