MEMORY MAN by David Baldacci was #1 on the NYTimes bestseller list on May 10, 2015.
This book was just okay for me. The crimes involved in the book were tragic. The main character, Amos Decker, was somewhat believable. However, the reason that the criminals did what they did just made no sense to me - it was very unsatisfying in that way.
Amos is a sympathetic character. He suffers a major head injury during his first year as a pro football player, which changes his mind. He can remember everything, he sees things in color, and the most interesting thing to me is the three 3's he sees at times. He looses his family in a horrific murder, and, as anyone would, sinks to rock bottom. He was a cop, and then when another crime happens in his town, he works as a consultant to the police department and then to the FBI.
The best part about this book was the characters (the good guys, anyway). They were all well developed, and the reader can step into their lives through the writing. The solving of the mystery just fell really flat for me, and I just did not enjoy it.
